  1. Laz, I have not been on this forum in a while, get me up to speed. You are saying that even with the multiplier in effect, the privates are beating the publics 30-17? WOW, I guess the multiplier was not large enough. Maybe moving the privates up TWO classes would make more competitive games. RHSfan
  2. Hey kayjewells, there is a nice picture of Marcus tagging out a runner at home in the Cookeville game in the (Cookeville?) Herald-Citizen. Check it out at Rockwood Article . Out at the Plate RHSfan
  3. I think this will be the year that Harriman makes it. They probably don't have enough depth in the pitching to make a run in the tournament if they get in the looser's bracket right away, but their bats will take them a long way. RHSfan
  4. I wasn't at today's game, but the report I got was: Rockwood 8, Wartburg 0 Corey Payne pitches no hitter with 13 K's. RHSfan
  5. magic, I worked on the roster, but had to guesstimate some of the heights and weights. I didn't have a copy of the roster to go by. If anyone sees any major mistakes, let me know and I will correct them. RHSfan
  6. Lebanon area basketball fans, I just saw that Jeremy Lunn (Wilson Central, 2004) scored a career high 17 points for Faulkner University in a win over Shorter College.

Go ahead. Check it out! Faulkner is a top notch NAIA program. Faulkner won the NCCAA World Series in 2001, and since that time has become the winningest program in Alabama among 4 year colleges with a 68% winning percentage. They have posted a 142-68 record in the past 3 years. In addition to that, they have WARM baseball weather!!!! RHSfan

For the first time, Faulkner University will host a Pre-Season showcase on its campus at Harrison Field in Montgomery, Alabama. The showcase, being held on January 3, 2005, at 12 PM is an excellent opportunity for high school aged players to exhibit their skills in front of many different college coaches and professional scouts. The fee for the showcase is $30 and registration may be completed online or by mail. Register here, online Faulkner Showcase If you have any questions, Coach Brent Barker can be reached @ 334-799-3112
  9. Loco, I'm gonna miss you on the baseball forum, especially since you have been on your best behavior and havn't gotten our Rockwood threads locked up recently! Take care and good luck. RHSfan
  10. SuperSteve, here is the difference: 6. Cory Herbert-came to GHS in 10th grade from another private school(DCA) to play for a better program.(copied from the Baseball Forum 'Mt.Pleasant vs. Goodpasture, Class A Championchip Game' thread) RHSfan Are you implying that this has never happened in the public school sector or with private school kids going to public schools? SuperSteve, it doesn't happen very often in the rural single A publics. RHSfan

  12. At some ballparks, such as Busch Stadium, ushers are the ones responsible for foul balls down the lines. Are you seriously suggesting that the game balls be thrown over a fence to the umpire? They aren't supervising the strike zone, they're watching for positioning. You can't teach judgment, you can teach being in the right position to make a judgment call. Opperman. no offense, but I would think those things would be taught and learned well before an umpire gets to officiate a state tournament game. In the games I observed, these two men did nothing much more than watch the game and in one game in particular, their seating was left in the way of a player trying to make a play (dangerous in my opinion). I really can't think of anything regarding a baseball game that is so important that supervisors must sit on the field of play to do their job. There are less conspicuous places to be rather than on the field of play. MHO. RHSfan
  13. In the state single A baseball tournament, 3 games out of 13 resulted in a public school being victorious over a private. Lucky there were 4 public schools in the tournament or the publics wouldn't have faired as well as they did. I still consider that domination. BTW, who took home the gold ball? Public or Private???????????? RHSfan
  14. Hey magicrooster, you're TOO old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RHSfan

In addition to Matt Goddard having the highest batting average in the single A tournament, he had the highest batting average in all classes in the entire tournament. Good job Matt. RHSfan By the way Matt, you can pay your commission on the towel bat anytime!!!!!!
