  1. To the best of your knowledge what Big 9 schools in girls AAA have made it to the state tournament?
  2. Just curious, have you coached before? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  3. I think that MVP of the Big 9 is a quality player and a player that can lead her team to wins. All of the players mentioned are good players-great student-athletes-with good stats. However, I think whichever team finishes close to the top or wins the championship will receive the award. That is why my previous post said "typically." In my opinion, votes should be based on 08-09 only. I know some will disagree but if there is a close vote then the senior should get the nod.
  4. Murr is a good player and one of the best in the conference. She also has big numbers and has helped turn the Crockett program around no doubt. Murr is also very much improved but i would be surprised if they give the most valuable player to the most improved player. Typically, the most valuable player is one that helped lead her team in the conference and not necessarily stats. If I am not mistaken Montogomery has helped lead THS to 4 straight conference championships & 4 regional appearances. Preditions MVP-Montgomery-THS First Team Murr-Crockett Frolich-DB Moody-Central Good-S. Hill Second Team-still alot of good players out there.................need to think on this one.... quote name='Surge' date='Feb 7 2009 - 09:27 AM' post='827024337'] She should be the winner - she holds the records in the conference and I believe because of her she has made Crockett the team it is. Also, of any senior in the Big 9, she is truly the most improved player. I believe you will see the Big 9 coaches giving her the award she truly deserves. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. bucdaddio-Encourage them to talk to a few people that quit anything in high school and maybe that will shed some light on their decesion. Tell them to play for the love of the sport, girls athletics, for their community and school. Passing up on the only opportunity to participate in high school athletics due to disagreements is not a reason to quit-unless they are getting physically abused. I am sure that is not the case. Most coaches that are hard on kids just want their best and really care. Programs that have these hard nosed coaches are fortunate-in my opinion. The point the kids prove by not playing is not worth it-if they have played that long they must of loved the sport. There is a huge lesson to learn for them if they can work through it and the coach will allow them to work themselves back into the program-as you know. As a former coach, I believe that the point you prove as the leader of the program by not allowing them into the program is not worth the lesson that can be taught with allowing kids to play again. Just my philiosophy-backfired on me sometimes as a coach because some did not get what they wanted out of the program However, some kids benefitied greatly from the program in the end and will keep that life lesson forever. Just my thoughts, hate to see seniors not play-maybe that is why I didnt last tooooo long as a coach, uh? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  6. Those kids will directly impact a high school program. Schools that do not have good feeder programs struggle at the high school level. So that is how i see it to be related to AAA Big Nine. Preview I guess not for 08-09.
  7. In case you were not aware-all of the prior info does relate directly to high school basketball and the preview for 08-09. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  8. I am not sure about saying this a senior award. This pick is for the best area player. Also, i am not sure what all the fuss is about. This is a pre-season pick and really doesnt mean a whole lot to players. Most of them are concnerned about having fun and the post-season run of thier team-then possible individual awards. This pick is for the fans..........and some parents. Just my two cents.
  9. Those are some serious alligations. Players today-actually-many of the parents can not take their kids being challenged when a coach is trying to get out their best. Times have changed unfortunatley. Teams that are mentally tough are slowly fading away. I am sure if she was hitting them, cussing them, or mistreating them then it would be addressed. I am sure that is not the case. Challenging players and staying on them and trying to get their best is what every coach should do. If not, the coach is short changing the players. I have personally seen Crumbley with her former players and have seen the relationship they share. I am sure that eveyone has postives and negatives about them. As the head coach, they are the person responsible for the entire program. Most of the time, their job is to be the bad cop and the job of an assistant is to be the good cop. This may be one reason for this perception that you have among the coaches. However, there may be some players that just dont connect or respond to a particular coach. Sounds like this is the case.
  10. Sounds like you have some major issues. Probably need another route of venting them besides on coach t post board. I think you missed the point about bashing crumley. It is like putting your name out on the world web, where you work and start letting people fire at your integrity. Not the way to go.......... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" I commend crumley for given her time to greeneville high school. I am not sure that i would give any more of my time and time from my family with that kind of support. However, I am sure she has a lot of favorable support as well. But if i know crumley, she isnt the type of person to allow outside sources and parents to disrupt the success of the the GHS program. She has a great staff, is a great person and a record to prove that she has what it takes. It is really not even the state tournament games, it is the journey that it took to get there. Just my 2 cents. bashes
  11. What makes a program successful starts with the administration. The administration has to be committed to supporting the girls team. This means making whatever means available to the staff that is needed to be successful. The next thing that has to be in place are the players and coaches. I believe in middle school and high school you need X and O coaches but more importantly there needs to be coaches with high morals and ethics. I believe that you have to surround yourself with good people. The players have to stive to make good choices off the court and it will carry over on the court. Obviously, players have to be committed pre-season, in-season, post-season and off-season in order to obatin to the hightest level. There are too many good players around and programs that work year around not to do this. Coaches has to find a way to make it fun for the players as much time as they put in. The above may sound like concepts that are not all skill related, however, you may have two good teams with skill but the one that has more heart and are good people will achieve more times than not. In addition to the above, there has to be cooperation between the youth teams in the community, the middle school teams, AAU organizations and the high school teams. That is what a true program is all about for the community it resides. This includes youth camps, leagues, colaboration between players and youth, and as much involvement with one another as possible. There are many teams that win ball games but to obatin a true program it takes all the above to achieve success. This is not an easy task. Sometimes, high school sports are mistaken for college level teams where winning is the number one priority. Winning will come is the other things are in place. AND it is lots of fun! Just my 2 cents. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Becky Sells-Olinger (Milligan) Carla Cantrell-(ETSU) Both from Sullivan East
  13. Courtney Watkins plays at libery university
  14. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" That is hearthbreaker. If I were guessing- the refs were the same ones that called the South Greene-THS game, where there were 3 technicals on the THS team and a bundle of charge calls. I would be interested in knowing if it was the same crew. The outcome of the game should be determined by the players on the floor and not the officials.
  15. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" What exactly has Coach Cook done to the players that may be improper besides being hard on them? Just curious what all the mess is about.
