Franklin County's Alyssa Archer displays her medals and certificates after competing in the Adidas Nationals Saturday in Independence, Missouri. Archer finished third in the girls 94.3-104.2-pound folkstyle bracket and fourth in the 98.7-106-pound freestyle division to earn All-American status in both disciplines.
Photo providedFranklin County wrestler Alyssa Archer recently competed in multiple national tournaments and came away with All-American honors in each one.
Archer, a Huntland senior who wrestles for the Franklin County High School team, traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, as part of Clarksville’s Mayhem wrestling team to compete in the Twin Rivers National Duals from April 6-7.
Wrestlers had to avoid losing more than three matches to receive individual All-American recognition at the team event with Archer making the grade with an overall record of 6-2 for the weekend.
Archer’s accolades for the tournament included six pinfall victories in the girls 100-pound division while her two losses for the weekend also came on pins.
She wrestled as part of the Mayhem Black team in the All-Star division with the team going 2-3 in pool play.
Mayhem Black picked up group victories over the Missouri Maulers by a score of 48-30 and Charlie’s Angels Pink by a 57-24 margin, but lost to the Oklahoma Super Girls, the Fightin’ Chicks and Sebolt by respective scores of 66-17, 46-33 and 58-21.
For her part, Archer went 3-2 during her pool matches as she beat Missouri’s Dallys Shaffer in 1:51, Charlie’s Angels’ Justice Milligan in 4:13 and the Fightin’ Chick’s Averie Brehm in 2:16 via pinfall, but she was pinned in turn by Oklahoma’s Dakota Harris in 4:42 and Sebolt’s Kara VeDepo in 1:49.
The 2-3 team record placed Mayhem Black in the All-Star Bronze bracket where the team beat the Iowa DC Elite by a score of 45-36 before falling to Charlie’s Angels Black 46-29 in the semifinals. Mayhem Black ended the weekend on a high note by beating the Missouri Maulers 48-30 in the consolation match to finish third in the bracket

Excellent view points. Ultimately it comes down to an informed wrestler making their best decision considering their goals and aligning their goals with the options available and the goals of the recruiting coaches.
Question gentlemen... Has Tennessee wrestling improved with new divisions/classifications?

The TSSAA Board of Control met in Hermitage on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 to address numerous items on the agenda.
The Board approved middle school championships in the sports of Wrestling and Soccer. A TMSAA Wrestling State Championship will be added for the 2024-25 school year with a target date of mid-December 2024 for the championship. TMSAA will offer two classes in wrestling and one class in girls’ wrestling and will work to have sections and areas set by the end of April 2024. A state championship in soccer will be added for the 2025-26 school year, with a girls’ championship offered in the fall and a boys’ championship offered in the spring. TMSAA will offer two classes in the sport and will work to have sections and areas set by the end of April 2024 so that member schools have one full school year to prepare for how the sport will be structured for postseason qualifying.
The Board considered a motion to lift the second year of Lipscomb Academy’s two-year restrictive probation, however, the motion failed 5-7.
Two schools, Franklin Christian Academy and Chapel Hill Christian Academy, were approved for TSSAA membership beginning with the 2025-26 school year.

I don't have to defend myself to you guys. I saw the other post was getting a lot of mixed opinions so I thought I would get in on it. NOT A CLEVELAND FAN but a WRESTLING FAN. Go check out Big Mac wrestling on IG. He was a wrestler back a few years and was in a bad car wreck and couldn't wrestle anymore he started a yt channel. He goes to a lot of highschool wrestling and records them and then post bad ref calls. He has 2 million subs on yt and 3.5 on IG. Good guy
