As I start my 31st season of following cougar basketball, I just want to wish the guys and coaching staff the best this upcoming season. I hope they continue with the pride and tradition that is cougar basketball. Go Cougars!

I'll be down there tommorrow to cheer you on. Also look forward to seeing this 36-0 Hamilton team from Memphis. They must be worth the price of admission. See ya there!!

Great game Cougars! What a battle. In my thirty plus years of following the Cougars I can't remember a team with more heart, desire and determination as this Cougar team has. I also commend the Central student section. I have never seen one that has gotten behind the team like this one has. Great effort by all! Go Cougars!

My favorite time of the year... high school basketball tournment time! Doesn't matter what your record is, if you don't come ready to play, it could be 1 and out. Hopefully, the top seeds will keep this in mind!

Tonights Sullivan Central at Sullivan North games have been posponed until Wednesday.

All I know for sure is the play-in games are Feb. 16 and the District 1 tournment is at Sullivan South. I would guess the girls quarters would be on the 17th and the boys quarters the 18 but no dates have been announced as of yet.

In following the Cougars for the last 30 years, I have found out one thing, no team can be taken for granted. With the district tournment less than two weeks away, we need to keep our focus and take care of business. We don't need to take any of these last four games lightly. Go Cougars!

We are seventh right now. If the tournment started today and the brackets are like I think they will be, we would play Science Hill in a quarterfinal game. But that could change.

I know it's not the win heard round the state, however it's good to see the lady cougars playing better. Good game A.J.

Great high school basketball game! The Dickie Warren dome was rockin last night! Both teams played with a lot of heart and desire. In the last 30 years of following Cougar basketball I've come away from losses feeling really dissapointed , but not this time. It took a super effort plus a half-court shot at the end to beat us. I really like this Cougar team heading into the tournments. Best of luck guys down the streach.

The whole team needs to play a little smarter if they expect any success in AAA this year. They play the same pace 10 up or 10 down. You just can't do that. I hope the players and coaches took note of how DB played when they got the lead, they held the ball and made us come to them. At that point the game was over. We would have just kept going down and forcing the ball up...not smart. We need to show a little more patience when teams make adjustments to our offence. We are hardly ever beaten in the first half, however, the second half is another story. We just need to make our own adjustments and we'll be allright. Just some thoughts . Go Cougars!

Was impressed with the teams play against the team from Florida yesterday. They battled a team that was bigger and more physical than any they will face in the big 9 right down to the wire. The Cougars, if they continue to improve, could surprise some people this year including me! Just heard that Central is going to honor the 1970-71 team that went 36-0 on Friday against Sullivan East. Should be interresting. Go Cougars!

Does anyone know the schedule for this weekends roundball in the hall. The Times-News preview has them in it but I've not seen anything else. The Central schedule on CoachT is all screwed up.

Here's the schedule: Cherokee vs. Boone at 5:45 p.m. and East vs. Central at 6:30 p.m. Then, after a free throw contest, Crockett and Science Hill will play at 7:15. A three-point contest will then precede a matchup between D-B and South at 8 p.m. After a slam-dunk contest, Volunteer and Tennessee High will play at 8:45 p.m. Of course jamborees are known to get behind schedule.

Just heard that the big 9 (dist.1AAA) jamboree will be this Thursday at Sullivan East starting at 5:45. Good chance to see what everybodys got. Matchups to be decided tomorrow.
