  1. Now that four classes are official and they voted to continue to send 8 teams to state tournament, I will resurrect this thread and see how you'd like to have it organized.
  2. https://tssaa.org/article/2018-mid-cycle-enrollments Mid-cycle enrollment numbers. They are now two years old.
  3. Projections I did from most recent enrollments available were: Class A under 400 AA under 720 AAA under 1164 I'm sure there have been fluctuations in enrollment, opening/closing of charter schools, and some other new schools. Each class should have a number in the low-mid 80's.

  5. Boys assistant Antawn Coby is new girls coach.
  6. Timing coincided with David Russell's decision to retire. Think Willie would've been Kevin's top choice whenever it opened. He will fit in well working with & replacing former Gibson Co. state championship coaches.
  7. As i said earlier, Kevin McMillan & Willie Trevathan have been good friends since early in Willie's career. I ASSURE you Chloe and Tess did NOT get him this job. Anyone that thinks so is an outsider speculating. It also has nothing to do with "his stock." Kevin McMillan knows a little about coaching basketball and who to surround himself with.
  8. Coach Trevathan will replace the legendary David Russell on Kevin McMillan's bench. Coach Russell is retiring. Willie Trevathan and Kevin McMillan have been good friends for many years. Should be a seamless transition. Who might be interested in the Lady Jackets? https://www.thunderboltradio.com/willie-trevathan-accepts-assistant-coaching-position-with-ut-martin-womens-basketball/

  10. Looks like Chloe has chosen to be an Indiana Hoosier. https://www.jacksonsun.com/story/sports/high-school/2020/04/10/chloe-moore-mcneil-commits-to-indiana-basketball/5132018002/?fbclid=IwAR2z8AauaFgaj4wntqB9VitGPigaBueCHEOGrX3acdcsK-wp0RCBDbj-Qd0
  11. I would be OK with four classes in all sports too if we could have same school's playing each other in ALL sports. Divide football-playing schools by four, then plug in non-football school's where their enrollment falls. As far as the NC model, I like some of it, dislike other parts. Don't think we'll see anything new develop that could potentially cut post-season revenue.
  12. Other parts of the state might not be so happy but four class basketball would benefit several schools across West Tn. and could be very competitive if numbers hold true through this Fall.
  13. In my projections based on last enrollment figures the school's you refer to would be in 14AA in a four-class system. They'd be joined by Madison & maybe Bolivar who could be on "the bubble." Rest of Region 7 would be Westview, Milan, Union City, Gibson Co., & Halls.
  14. I would've been for Urban/Rural split before Public/Private split. Probably won't happen now, not as practical with privates gone but still something to look at.
  15. Always thought Urban/Rural was best way to split but it must've never got very far. Don't think it's on the table this cycle but maybe next. Truly think basketball will be four classes next time. TSSAA will decide at June meeting.
  16. Thanks for some input. Only post on either board that has an idea other than "we don't need four classes" "let's give everyone a trophy" etc. Very good chance it's going to happen. So how do they organize it?
  17. Yes I have read it and just re-read! The only use of juggernaut was people describing Macon. Greenfieldfan made a reference to Westview winning the Gold Ball and that's the only mention of Westview in a confident vane. I presented facts to answer your claim about their "mediocre loss" and you go off defending Macon's loss again. I have voted Macon Co. #1 in the AP Poll all season and they looked it Thursday. The few Westview posters on here have made no claims they were going to steamroll anyone. If another thread has made you believe that, they were from elsewhere trying to elicit just that type of response.
  18. Don't think anyone claims Westview is an unbeatable juggernaut. For the record, the so-called mediocre Single A was Union City by 2 in overtime without UNA signee Alexis Callins. Union City had Final 4 participant Gibson Co. beat in the region semis on GC floor late in the 4th. Union City was NOT mediocre this year.
  19. Whether we like it or not there's a good chance it's coming. Would like to hear some opinions on the tournament format. TSSAA is set to look at options soon and whether they would be feasible.
  20. Since there’s nothing we can do about the present lets turn our attention to the future. The TSSAA is set to consider going to four classes in basketball and from all indications this has some serious traction. Would love to hear input on how the state tournament should be done. I’m going to throw out three options. If you have another idea put it out there. #1 Basically the current schedule but would require 8 games Wed-Fri. Play 2 class of quarters the first two days, 8 semifinals on Friday, & 4 championships on Saturday. Downside:This would make for long days TSSAA staff. #2 Use two different venues concurrently, for example A/AA one place & AAA/AAAA at another. One class would play Wednesday, other on Thursday, all semis on Friday, & championships on Saturday. Downside: Everyone would not be together but hopefully they’d be close enough people could attend both easily. Also double the staffing required. #3 Add a “Super-Sectional” game pitting Sectional winners at a larger venue in each of the four sections of state and send only four teams to Murfreesboro in each class. Play four semifinals Wednesday & four Thursday. Two championships Friday & two Saturday. Downside: Fewer teams make "State."

  22. It was actually a player from Obion Central whose team was eliminated by Westview in the Semis.
  23. Everyone has their opinions on here but here are some facts and numbers to help formulate them. Covington is #2 in defense in the state, giving up 33.8 ppg. Westview is 3rd, allowing 34.2. Could be a low scoring affair. Covington had won 12 straight before Wednesday's loss to Melrose. They won four of those games without PG Kalynn Howard. She has been back in postseason. Westview has won 15 consecutive games and held their opponents during that time to 29.1 ppg. Common Opponents: Fayette-Ware: WV won on road 54-27, Cov won 51-31 on road & 52-33 at home Union City: WV won 50-25 at home & lost 54-52 on road. Cov won 49-46 at home & lost 42-34 on road Gibson Co.: WV lost 45-36 at home, Cov won 48-40 on road. Both Westview losses above were without Alexis Callins. They are unbeaten with her playing.
