  1. The two young ladies that are going to Tn Tech are: Mandy Medenhall of Harpeth and Jasmine White of Smyrna. The player from Clarksville High is Valerie Bronson and she is going to David Lipscomb
  2. Good points, so I'll agree to disagree.
  3. greenvillefan, Your team, your coaches, and your fans are a class act. I am a Clarksville-Northeast fan and I want to congratulate you on a great season. However, from what I witnessed this year, I have no doubt that you will be there again next year. Good luck next year.
  4. bulldawg fan, you sound as if there is no strategy in a game with a shot clock. Colleges have been doing it for years and there is plenty of strategy. The bottom line is that the shot clock favors the less talented and inferior player. You, like so many others want things to stay the same so less talented players will have equality in a sport that thrives on talent. If girls high school basketball is going to grow, then it must adapt. Why do you think so many players are attracted to AAU basketball? The speed of the game, that's why. Besides, this is the very next level to college basketball. These young ladies need to be prepared for the college game. It doesn't make sense to be this close to the college level and still not have a shot clock. That is why AAU prepares these players far better for collge b-ball than does high school. So let's stop being selfish and do what is right for the high school player. Put in the shot clock!!
  5. Why is it when a team has a lot of athleticism, they are always categorized as non-basketball players? If it's up tempo, then it's a track meet. If it's a basketball game, then Riverdale will wins. What the heck does that mean? Here's a news flash!! I will be a basketball game and quite probably a very good one. It is possible for athletic teams to be just as sound and fudamental as the SLOW AND PLODDING teams. There are obvious reasons that many people criticize athletic teams but I won't stoop that low. Even though I am rooting for Riverdale because they represent my area, Middle Tn, Memphis East is very well coached and they are just as fudamentally sound as any good team in the state. They just happen to bo loaded with a bunch of very gifted athletes. So get off of that basketball players vs athletes crap.
  6. throw it up, thanks for letting me know that I have such a tiny brain. I was wondering why I was having such a hard time figuring out why you can't accept a loss. At least now I know it's because my brain is so tiny. So now the reason you are not going to state is because of the TSSAA set-up. All the years the set-up has been the same but this year it's a problem because Northeast didn't win their region and they beat you. Antioch didn't win their region either and they are going to state also. If you would do a little checking, you will find out that Wilson Central lost in the regional championship and they went on to win the state and so did Mt. Juliet the year before. Since I'm sure, your brain is soooo much larger than mine, that we be no problem for you to check. I don't want to throw stones here. I really don't. The Brentwood girls are very good team and one that I have tremendous respect for. We were very fortunate to get past them. However, the bottom line is, that for whatever reason we did win. It's just a shame that we can't get proper respect for that. You have a right to be proud of your team and maybe if most return next year, they will be knocking on the door again but I do appreciate the well wishes for our team, whether you're sincere or not. One other thing, Dawn Evans is that good and then some but you don't have to worry about her next year, she'll be to busy playing Division I basketbll. She was 14 for 18 in free throws but I sure she would have been happy to shoot 40 though.
  7. Evans is averaging nearly 8 assists per game. That seems pretty team oriented to me. You have right to your opinion and I can respect that but you probably need to see more than a couple of her games before you make that kind of assessment. That statement implies that she is a selfish ballplayer, which could not be further from the truth. Dawn Evans has had 10 or more assists in 9 games this season and has come within 1 or 2 of having double digit assists in 12 other games. If that is not an indication of teamwork; then what is? Besides that, the time when you said she was being gaurded by 2 and 3 people, the coach instructed her to keep the ball in her hands. Being an 84% foul shooter and having the ball handling skills enable her to do that. I don't know about you but that sounds like a good coaching strategy to me. In case you were not aware of it, the game this season when she scored 53 points, she also had 12 assists. It takes an awful lot of passing to put up those kind of assists numbers. How do I know, you may ask? I keep the stats..
  8. throwitup24 One of these days someone will have enough class and respect to admit that they just got beat by the better team. Were the refs bad? Did the refs makes some horrible calls against Brentwood. Yes they did. Did they make some bad calls against Clarksville-Northeast. Yes they did. They were no better or worse than any other game. It's no secret, I am a Northeast fan. You went down at the hands of a very good team with a couple of great players. There is no shame in that. Just like the region championship game when we played Wilson Central. Could the refs have been better? You always think so when you lose. Did it cost us the game. No. We were outplayed by a very fine Wilson Central basketball team. No ifs , ands , or buts. They outplayed us, dispite a tremendous effort by Dawn Evans and the whole Northeast team and because of that, we lost in a hard-fought game. It's really just that simple. Sometimes all this whining makes me want to THROW UP!!!!
  9. I don't know what whoopin you saw. The score as I remember it was 73 - 66. A win yes, a whoopin, I think not. Oh by the way Clarksville-Northeast is in the state tournament the last I checked. You Wilson Central fans need to stop whining. Sometimes you just get beat. Central is a great team. They just simply got beat by a very good basketball team. It happens, get over it and stop making excuses every time they lose.
  10. If I may interject here, I agree with mailman on the point that in crunch time, you give the ball to your best players. Some of the best coaching comes when you put the ball on your best player's hands, allow them to make plays and get the heck out of the way. But honestly mailman, is there anything that WC doesn't have the best in the state of? It seems like every time you turn around, you have the best everything in the state. The best player, the best coach, the best fans, and now the best assistant coach. I find it absolutely amazing that those who constantly makes statements like that, have seen everyone in the state to compare them to. I see why someone posted that certain players when awards like miss basketball because of the campaining. Sometimes it's just nausiating.
  11. Sorry, but I disagree, Dawn Evans is every bit as good and then some. She just hit Wilson Central up for 37 points. After Miko Williams went down in the second quarter, Dawn Evans scored 24 points in the third quarter alone and 5 consecutive 3"s. Lanning is a great player and I am a big fan but whin people makes statements like that, I think it's just from lack of awareness . Ask the Mt, Juliet and Wilson Central faithful how good she is. They just got an up close and personal look at her talents. 27 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals against Mt. Juliet and 37 points, 7 assists, 3 steals against Wilson Central; two of top ten teams in the state ----just one person's opinion----
  12. So does Ann Marie Lanning and Alex Bivens of Riverdale, and they have no problem playing together. Personalities have nothing to do with it. Kamiko Williams is just as offensive-minded and she and Evans play extremely well toghether and compliment each other quite nicely. There are many good teams that have 2 to 3 offensive minded players that play really well together. So I really don't see what personalities have to do with anything. Maybe you were referring to the the types of games they have, rather than personalities. Evans and Williams are play makers. They both are creators that can score as well as create opportunities for their teammates. Bronson is a scorer but she doesn't create easy opportunities for her teammates. Most of the time she needs for her teammates to get her the ball. After watching many games in 10 AAA, the truth of the matter is, Bronson would be the third best player on the Clarksville-Northeast team behind Evans and Williams.
  13. fanchs, with an outlook like the one you have, it's no wonder your team never gets past the first game of the regional tournament. Unlike you, good players learn to play with other good players. Although the one you root for, is probably overated anyway.
