  1. I have a friend whose daughter wants to play travel ball in the fall.
  2. That statement is not very fair. In a broad sense, you may think you know what you are talking about. Any board or director that don't care about kids is in the wrong line of, for lack of a better word, work. Speaking individually about the board "not caring about the students" is not a fair assessment. That hits a lot closer to home for some than it does for others.

    7-AA

Sloppy game for Dekalb? LA issued 8 walks and also hit 5 Dekalb Co. hitters. LA had 10 hits to DC's 6. Home plate ump was tight on both sides but a little tighter on LA IMO. In the first 3 innings LA was hammering the ball. The last DC pitcher did a good job of shutting LA down.
  4. I am 100% in favor of a shot clock. You wouldn't see any 34-32 ballgames.
  5. The game is over and the "trash talking" is just a part of what makes Coach T an interesting website. As a rule, I normally don't trash talk because I spend most of my time trying to predict the future. IMO, this game can be spun however you want to spin it but the best team won the game. That is no disrespect to LA, but a compliment to Bolivar. They pounded the offensive and defensive boards. When I looked on the TSSAA website, I was dumbfounded to read LA was only outrebounded 38-32. #11 and #30 were rock solid guards. LA definitely did not play one of their better games, but most of that was due to what Bolivar did. 32-3 is not too shabby. For the seniors, hats off to them for their careers at LA. Just thinking about this group of kids being seniors makes me feel older than I already feel. I remember C.West from the time he was in the pitching machine league in baseball. I remember JP playing on a couple of the Outlaw teams I helped coach. I remember Ramsey in the bantam tournament and even then everybody was talking about how big he was. I remember Petey playing Jr Pro in the semifinal game against the team my kid played on. WP's team was down 1 with :07 left in the game. The opposing coaches told their team not to let Will get the ball. Well, he got the ball drove the length of the court and got fouled with :01 left. He calmly stepped to the line and knocked down both FT's giving his team the win. As for C.Dunn, believe it or not he played on an Outlaw team I helped coach and was one heck of a runningback. I also remember he was draining 3's like it was nothing when he was in the 4th grade. Chase is one extraordinarily talented player. Oh well, enough with the reminiscing. As I said, it just makes me feel OLDER. Hold your heads high seniors, you played your hearts out. As for next year's returners, work hard and get prepared and maybe another trip to Murfreesboro might be possible. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. Unfortunately, I did not make it to the game as I had another obligation to fulfill. However, I was told about the chant and that is without question classless. We all, as adults, know that most student sections are going to get a little rowdy at times. We can only hope that the students will use a little common sense when it comes to figuring out where to draw the line. If they struggle with the"drawing the line" concept, then that is where the school administrators must step in. And when I speak of administrators, I am speaking of coaches, the principal, or even members of the faculty. As for the Dekalb kids, it may be an effort to re-organize the infamous "Heada's army." Most on here are probably not old enough to remember that "crew" but believe me they were radical. If you look at their name, it shouldn't take you long to figure out the implication. All students should support their school, but do it in a way that the players, coaches, and the community can be proud. 7. OK here I go again. LA 75 DC 57 No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. OCF, it appears we have this uncontrollable urge to predict the future. I do agree that LA will play much better this time. Thus, I'm picking the Lady Cats: LA 61 SC 59 As for the other semi-final: Upperman by a bunch. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. No disrespect to the other candidates, but White Co. would be wise to hire Houser. He is an intelligent, energetic, football smart young man. He, without question, will put his heart and soul into the job. He has an enormous passion for the game. My son played for him for one year and I can assure you he thought the world of him. He will work his boys hard and by no means will he accept less than maximum effort from his players. If White Co. wants an up and comer to boost there football program, Houser will fill the bill.
  10. I agree with all this except the finals. LA by 7 in the finals. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. Glad somebody knew what I was talking about. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. I will reveal a secret that not a lot of people know about the "hairless wonder." His favorite baseball player of all-time is Hal Morris who played most of his career with the Cincinnati Reds. He also says Hal is the best hitter to ever play.
  13. Let's hire Daniel Caffey to see if we can get a change of venue. Jake Brigance failed in his attempt for a change of venue. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. I remember when Jake Brigance requested a change of venue. He was quickly turned down. But, he won anyway. Sort of what I think will happen in this scenario as well. LA wins the Region. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  15. Does anybody know the individual point totals for last night's game? The Tennessean does not have it. That's pretty weak on somebody's part for not calling it in. I don't know if that's TTU's job or not. Anyway, if anybody knows the numbers I'd like to see them. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  16. Region championship game loser plays their sub-state game on the road.
  17. OK. I know I shouldn't go off predicting the future again, but I don't want to let oldcatfan and some of my other faithful followers down. So here is my prediction on the game: Liv. Aca. 76 Upperman 68 No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> P.S. Somebody is predicting the future in the LA/Upperman girls thread but it isn't me.
  18. Gator, it's really not that hard to predict basketball games when you can predict the future like me. It is two good, well-coached teams and I think you are right in that it will be a really good game. But I am still predicting an LA win. If I'm wrong, feel free to hold my face to the flames. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. Well sometimes I need people like you to help me figure things out and I sure do appreciate it. If I'm not mistaken, and I could be, I've seen you predict several games yourself. Making predictions is all in fun for me. Gosh, I don't recall ever claiming the ability to predict the future. That would be nice though, I could probably become a rich person. I really don't know why my question struck a nerve, but I will explain my comment. I was only saying it would have been just as easy to say if Peterman and West have a big game then LA WILL win. We all assume Dunn will get his and that is why I ask the question. And I think we have come to expect Smith to play well. He has been the 2nd leading scorer all year. Ramsey had a big game Saturday and I think West had 15 when LA won the Upperman game @ Livingston. A repeat performance of that would be nice. I won't try to predict the future too much. I will only say LA wins the game. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. Any particular reason OCF why you think the game hinges on big performances from these two? Another 4 pt performance from Dunn would not be good, although he passed the ball really well. A solid performance from Peterman would be huge. And West has been shooting the 3 really well the last few games. Let's hope that continues. As I stated earlier, I underestimated Upperman. I really believe it will take good games from several for the Cats to win. Which I do think LA will win. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. White House cannot hang with LA no matter how physical they are. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  22. Sorry to burst your bubble bigpun, but there are no darkhorses in this tourney. It will be LA-Upperman in the finals. Cannon lost to Upperman/LA by a total of 121 points in 4 games. I'm sincerely doubting they have much of a chance to be a darkhorse. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. Is it a requirement when picking an all "anything" team that you have to have a point guard on the 1st team? If so, I didn't know that. No Mercy /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  24. Correct me here if I'm wrong, but wasn't the coin flip ONLY for seeding purposes. I thought LA and Upperman were Co Champs before, during, and after the flip. Winning the flip doesn't mean LA is the champion. And yes I think LA has won outright or shared the District crown for 4 years in a row. If winning the flip made LA sole champs then double congratulations for being lucky enough to win the flip. Undoubtedly, it will be LA-Upperman in the district title game. And as stated in another thread, I hope the Cats pull it off because John Jenkins puts a little fear in me. Assuming of course SC wins their District which I'm sure they will.
