  1. From what I saw he is the #9 rb in the nation. Didn't he verbally commit to UT? We could use him here after next we lose Houston. We'll have a good recruiting class with Crompton from NC committing to us....we're going to have to have tri-starters next year!
  2. At Clinton, you could buy tickets for football games that week in the office. It was a dollar cheaper. I had a friend that still goes there buy a ticket for me that way for the Oak Ridge game so I wouldn't have to wait in line, but don't tell the school system that. I beat the system!! Charge up to $15 for a high school football game? Are you serious? I wouldn't know if Vandy costs less because I would never go to a Vandy game. The problem with charging $20 for student activity fee in a 1,000 student school is what if only 20 kids signed up? Sure, that's $400, but then there's 980 students who probably wouldn't go to the game because they didn't sign up and they would be charged more than the 20. But if it works, go for it. I actually like the idea of an acitivites fee. I know I pay alot for that at UT. Even though people don't like the "new" "Orange Nation" because they take up all the best student section seats, I don't care. I've got row 18 seats right on the 40 yard line for the Auburn game! Go Vols!! And so I don't get in trouble with CoachT, go Dragons!!
  3. All I know is that instead of teams playing on Friday night in perfect conditions (at least around east Tennessee), a lot of teams were playing in the middle of downpour. And I was sitting in the endzone (where Wilhoit made the field goal) at Neyland in what was supposed to be like the 2002 game on Saturday. But I know the decision makers were being cautious and making sure that everybody (players and FANS) were safe in their travels. Good job.
  4. ahhh....Such youthful high school enthusiasm. Congratulations on the first win. I too kind of knows what it feels like to get the first win, but it wasn't the first in school history. Clinton got it's first win in 15 something tries last Thursday, even though it was after I graduated from there.
  5. Bring on Ivan and whoever else wants to come and rain on us. Bring back Andrew if you'd like (don't think people in Miami would like that), there's nothing that could stop me from being at Neyland. I'm expecting a record crowd despite the rain to watch the freshmen against Leak. Come rain or rain, I'll be in the 57th row of the best stadium in the country in my poncho.
  6. Knowing some of the personalities on this football team, I HIGHLY doubt the bus was quiet after the game. Especially after a 15 odd game losing streak. Especially if Shattuck was on the bus with them. Wish I could have been there. I'm glad even after we finally get a win people are still trying to bring us down.
  7. Yes, I remember what happened at RainFest 2002 in Neyland. There's one big difference. Now we have a qb that can actually run 5 yards without getting winded like duckfooted Clausen. Clausen relied on a passing game, while Schaeffer can get out there and make plays with his feet. But he might not have as much luck against Florida. The only game that interests me this week is Halls and Powell. I'll probably just sit inside out of the rain and finish homework
  8. I know these games don't quite match up to other games on here, but these are some that have been bothering people in Clinton for a while. 1) 2001 when we played at Anderson County. Our best shot to beat them in a long time and we almost did. It was a very close game, but I don't remember all the details and stats and stuff. I know we were losing 35-28 in the 4th quarter. We score and our coach decides to go for 2, even though we now have momentum and would have won in overtime. We don't make it! We get the ball back with under 2 minutes left and we drive down to attempt a 40 yard field goal. The kicker is one my best friends, he was a freshman soccer player who tried out for the team. The snap is good, the hold is good, the kick is no where near good. I felt so bad for him. 2) As someone posted before, the Oak Ridge game at home in 2003. We could have tied the game at 27 with well under a minute to go. Instead of running the ball from the 1 (which we had had success with), that same coach from the game above decided to pass. It's intercepted and they run the time out.
  9. Wow, that's something I'm not used to hearing. We have a longer winning streak than AC AND OR. I was thinking about it last night...I don't think I've ever been to a Clinton football game where they won. I was at the Homecoming game my freshman when they played West (I think) and won...but me and my friend left early so I didn't actually get to see the win. Interesting.
  10. Ollie...though I usually agree with your posts (except the ones about Lockard being cute and stuff, I'm not talking about those), I will have to disagree with you on this one. I don't know much about Anderson County, except that they've lost already this year, I can say that Oak Ridge is not overrated. When you win the first 2 games by an average of 61 points, then lose to the #1 ranked school on Coach T by 17 (it was a closer game than that score), I'd say they're good enough for the hype they've gotten. And for Oskie...we got the first win, so just wait a little while before Clinton breaks the top 30.
  11. I think girls should be able to play football. I guess it's the whole equal opportunity thing....if they wanna get hit by guys and complain about it, let them! As long as there's no special treatment (i.e. less conditioning exercises or preference come cutting time), I see no problem. There was a girl on Clinton's team last year...she might be on this year's team too...and I don't know of any distractions due to it.
  12. I was fortunate enough to see the Maryville Central game last year and I went away saying "Wow, I've never seen anything like that." Then I got to see your 4th string start against us at Clinton. Anyway, I was just wondering how Carl Stewart's doing. I haven't heard anything about him. I looked at the roster at Auburn on my NCAA 2005 game and it had a redshirt freshman on there....is that him or is he at another school? I always like to keep up with local players that go onto D1 schools. If he's still at Auburn he's got a lot of competition ahead of him with all their backs.
  13. Yes, it is a big rivalry. I work with a guy that went to Powell and he says he hates Halls. It would be like Oak Ridge to us.
  14. Man o Man. From reading these posts, it makes me wish I was there. What was I thinking, spending my friday night at the UT library? Oh well, I will definitely check out the game when DB comes back to Anderson County to play in the playoffs. Us Clinton fans have an alliance with certain DB fans from back in March in the state tournament (a lot of good that did us, huh?). Reading the play-by-play was like reading a good book, I couldn't stop and I had to know what was going to happen next when I got to the end of the page. Being a Clinton fan, I guess I'm glad that OR lost, but you always like to see a local team get a big win over a highly-ranked team. So I'm torn in that sense. Sorry to OR that we couldn't make it more of a game to get you ready for DB. I will say that OR was classier this year to us dragons. You didn't put a sign on the Clinton sign like last year's "Clinton blows more than smoke" (very creative by the way). You all had a sign at the basketball game that said "Dragons like little boys". Hopefully there wasn't any of that at the football game. I guess what I'm saying is congratulations DB on beating a great team and good luck the rest of the year. And to OR, good luck on the rest of the season. Stay classy Oak Ridge - Ron Burgundy.
  15. i think if any band plays Beatles music they should be considered a pretty good band because the Beatles are one of the best bands eva. DB might have as many people as UT's but that doesnt mean they are as good as UT. Anyways to be in UT's band you have to be selected. its not like you can pick band as a class or something 825334570[/snapback] You don't have to be a great band just to play Beatles songs. Some of the Beatles stuff is quite easy. Just because I can play some Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughn doesn't make me one of the best guitar players ever (I wish). I never was a big Beatles fan anyway. I have an idea. Let's get everybody on coacht and tell them to post that their alma mater or a school they're affiliated with and say "They have the best band ever." How many best bands are there? I think they're can only be one....maybe we should get an annual Tennessee High School Band Competition going and decided every year. We'll have it at D-B so there's no excuses why they didn't go.
