  1. Camden sweeps Creekwood 13-9 at Creekwood and 13-2 in five innings at Camden. Looks like the Camden/MC matchup may decide the district. I didn't go to Creekwood last night but even though it was a run rule tonight Creekwood just didn't have any luck. Two line drive double plays and one 6-4-3 double play got Camden out of innings when Creekwood was threatening. And a few mistakes by Creekwood's defense opened the floodgates a couple of times. Bottom of the first Camden's #2 hitter hit an opposite field hr to tie the game and all you heard from Creekwoods players was how it was a pop up on their field. It looked like it got in their heads. Next ball hit that direction was dropped by the fielder and Camden scored two more.
  2. Wow, my son graduated last year so I got on here to catch up but it is really quiet on this thread. Camden is now 5-2 after losing to Harpeth tonight. Problem is in my opinion they haven't had a quality win yet. They beat Bruceton and Waverly twice and neither team had a strong lineup. I was impressed when they beat Henry Co. but not sure how solid the HC team is this year. Camden has a lot of players who can throw the ball, they just need a few to step up and pitch. Mainly stuck with last years seniors pitching so the younger ones didn't get as much experience as you would like them to. But they have some promising arms that should be ready soon. Defense should (emphasis on should) be solid with 3rd, ss, 2nd, C, and two outfielders returning. Only problem with that is the defense was suspect at times last year. I was at my son's college game tonight so didn't go to Harpeth. Any opinions on the game?
  3. Again, don't take it so personal that I don't think you are the best. I have repeatedly said that SH was a solid team and made note that they werent weak, just that I (and I quote I) thought the other two had better lineups. I didn't say that they were not capable of winning state, I did not say that they sucked. You have flown off the handle when all I did was give an opinion. If I had said that SH was the best team that we faced all season and they had pitchers sitting in the stands that could be anybody else's #1 starter would you have gotten so offensive? Goosfaba buddy (Anger Management with Adam Sandler if you haven't seen it). And good luck. Since we are closer to Lexington and I know several of them I am rooting for them. But I also talked to several of the parents for SH and Lipscomb and enjoyed the conversations. If Lexington cannot win it I am pulling for one of you. I will listen if I can find it on a station and pull for you when you are not playing Lexington even if you want to be insulting everytime you post. Good luck and remember, Goooooooosssssssfffffaaaaaabbbbbbaaaaaaaaa!
  4. Dude, I am sorry that I don't think you are the best team. Don't take it so personal. Prove me wrong and DEAL WITH IT.
  5. Yes, our four runs were off homeruns that you can tell yourself were routine pop flys if that makes you feel better. We also left bases loaded twice and runners on almost every inning. Center fielder made a great catch to save two runs one inning. YOU got four of your seven runs off errors, not hitting. Your lineup definitely does not match up to Lexington's and I don't think it does to Lipscomb's. And again, I am not saying it is weak, it just isn't as good as the other two from what I saw. You may very well win state and score 20 runs a game but I didn't see it. There is no doubt you are a very good team and can beat anybody. BUT so are Lexington and Lipscomb.
  6. My son played for Camden and I am going by what I saw. We played Spring Hill and Lipscomb back to back and I though Lipscomb was the better team. We scored 4 on Spring Hill and left several runners on. We scored 2 against Lipscomb and didn't have much going besides that. Between Lipscomb, Spring Hill, and Lexington, Spring Hill seemed to be the weakest lineup (Not that it was weak, just not as solid as the other two). I have heard the same thing about the depth of the pitching staff for Spring Hill and that could be the thing that puts them over the top. But I don't think it will be a runaway by anybody and any of the three could win it all. As for the Milan bats I said i could be mistaken. But that was the impression I got. I listened to a few innings of the Chester Co. game and they weren't doing much with the ball (but did score several runs late). And Lexington scored 19 on them so I would say they have the edge there.
  7. We played three of the teams (Spring Hill, David Libscomb, Lexington). Lexington has the best lineup and they have faced good pitching all year, but I don't know how deep their rotation goes. Spring Hill and Libscomb were both very solid. I thought Libscomb had a better lineup and the pitcher we faced was very good. Also they brought a lefty in to pitch to one lefty batter and he came in and got the job done. Spring Hill was very poised and confident. Right now I would give the edge to Libscomb between the two. Any one of the three could be dominant. We didn't face Milan, but from what I have heard from them I don't think they have the bats that Lexington does and I think they are a long shot. That is only an impression that I have gotten from listening to some games on the radio and may not be very accurate.
  8. Great tournament. Good luck Creekwood. You played hard to make it and I was very impressed with the way the team never quit. Nice job.
  9. Camden vs. Creekwood in the championship tomorrow. I have to hand it to Creekwood. To begin with I did not think they would beat Purcell and make it to Camden. Then I didn't think they would beat Montgomery Central with the way MC was swinging the bats. THEN I thought it was over when they gave up the six runs in the inning. Very, very good job by the coaches and players. MC has nothing to hang their head about either with the way they were playing. I heard Harpeth's coach quit today. Is that a rumor or fact?
  10. There is no arguing that it is a home field advantage. I just think that the opposing teams focus on it more than they should. And we have sometimes have the opposite problem in some of the bigger parks thinking that you can just throw it up there and let them hit it as opposed to still keeping the ball down. You see lots of threads that mention Stephen Gant as a pitcher. I can tell you that Riverside's field compares to ours like we compare to Creekwood. The girl's softball team could play on their field. He still doesn't give up any runs. That shows that he not only has the speed but he keeps the ball down too. And they came to Camden and gave us a thumping. They kept the ball down and hit it up.
  11. The fences are 295' down the lines going out to 345 in center field. Plus the 10 foot fence. We looked at several ways to lengthen it and there are no cheap ways to do it. You either have to move the lights or move teh concession stand which is what we tried to do so we could get a new one. Since it is a city park it is hard to sink that much money in it. The booster club tries to add something every year like the fences, block wall, and new scoreboard, but we just cant get the kind of money you are talking about to do that.
  12. Camden wins over Creekwood 13-3 while hitting six homeruns. Creekwood spent most of their time complaining about the fence (same one they were swinging at) and got one homerun themselves. The Creekwood coach made us laugh at one point. He said something to the umpire about the short fence and one of our mom's went off on him. "It's the same fence. If it is that easy you should have 8 or 10 homeruns yourself. Your team has the same fence to swing at!!!" He looked at her just as calm as possible and told her " You are very observant and completely correct". When he agreed with her it just kind of took the wind out of her sails. She was all set to give him a hard time, but how do you do that when he agrees with you? I was really surprised at the second game. Both teams hit the ball and Harpeth didn't make several plays that they should have. Presley was leaving the ball up and Mont Central was hitting it. Did he pitch Friday and then come back again Monday? And the homerun that was called an out for the illegal bat was a bomb! It got out in a hurry. While I don't think it would have gone out if he was using a broomstick like some of the fans suggested, it was going to go out with any normal bat.
  13. We are very excited to be hosting at Camden this week. We cannot remember when (or if) the last time that Camden Baseball won the district and we are going to do our best to try to make everybody feel as welcome as possible. If there is anything that is needed or you would like to talk I usually end up down the third baseline taking videos and pictures. Hope you have a safe trip down.
  14. Camden wins both against Stewart Co. 11-0 and 10-0. How did the other games fall out?
  15. I heard that this week's games are all called off and the coaches are meeting tomorrow to determine seeding for the tournament. I think 1 and 2 are set. How are 3-4-5 going to fall?
