  1. He retired from East after the 2020 season. He volunteered at Milligan this season. East was AAA from 1988-2009 under Dyer. Then East dropped to AA. No matter who shows up to play at WRHS, they’ll play hard and they’ll shoot a lot of 3’s! He will do great there. They needed a seasoned veteran to help make this transition as smooth as possible. Good luck Coach Dyer.
  2. In the 2000 season DC was 7-3 and made their 1st playoff appearance. They played THS at the Stone Castle and lost 45-21. Shut out against Knox West in 2013. Hope the third times a charm for the Pioneers but more than anything I hope the community sticks together and ride through this storm TOGETHER. If they do, 2018 season could see them as a 1 or 2 seed with the talent they would return.
  3. This is unbelievable. Poor Coach Lingerfelt. He was pumped and excited about taking over the baseball program. Now he's thrown smack in the middle of this. I wish him well. It's time for someone to stand up and be a leader that will begin the healing process. I pray they vote to play and realize they can be the ones that can unify the community. The adults have sure failed. I have faith that if the adults get out of the way the kids will pave the way for hope.
  4. Hate it for the DCHS community. I would like to know why GS waited until he did to start his activism. Could it have been that he was 5-2 and knew the next 3 games were games they probably were not going to win? I mean, let's be real, what's the combined record of the opponents they defeated? Who did they beat with a wining record? I think his whole antics were a diversion so that he could have an excuse as to why they ended up 5-5. Now and forever more he can say he was 5-2 and 0-3 without him Please do not confuse his tactic for caring, the care was one sided the whole time. Self promotion for his next career stop. Unfortunately for him it back fired. His only saving grace was he attacked a school system that has along track record of shadey deals and questionable ethics. That's why at first so many believed him. Or at least wanted to belive him. Now, it's a nuclear winter and no one wins and the fallout will take years to recover from.
  5. I guess I was wrong. Nevertheless, he did a great job and took the program to new heights.
  6. I bet he's got another gig somewhere else lined up. He's taken SHHS girl basketball to a level it has never seen before. Unfortunately, Riverdale has been the best team in the U.S.A.and a state championship was not to be. The Hill has a strong team coming back but not as good as the last two seasons. This was their high water mark. Congratulations to Coach Barnwell for building the best program NE Tennessee has ever seen. Good luck to him at his next stop.
  7. They could beg the TSSAA to get them out of the Big 8. They get more work out of intrasquad games than playing the conference schedule. Three games this year the starters will be out in the 1st quarter. The other 4 games will over by the half. It's bad for everyone involved. They do not get the challenge they deserve and the other teams get two or three key players banged up and worse, they carry a 50-60 point beat down with them the rest of their lives. All the programs in the conference work hard and put in the time, lift weights, and prepare non stop but DB is just a great program. They are full of class and put in the work. Total package. I would love to see them get a state championship in the modern era. Tennessee is one of the few states that care about the distance teams travel. I say travel and get the competition they deserve.
  8. Well said. We need to stop being helicopter parents and let our kids fall and get back up again on their own. Big deal the refs were bad. They are most of the time. The outcome of this summer scrimmage meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. However, due to the actions taken after the game, it does mean something now because a felony has occurred. No matter if anyone from E-Town pulled the fire alarm, the perception is still there. They (fans and coaches) acted like small children and then a fire alram is pulled. What do you think it looks like from an innocent by standard? But again, its just a dang summer scrimmage game. The juice aint worth the squeeze my friends. Your heart and blood pressure would agree.
  9. take it to the bank. everyone else will be playing for 2nd place.
  10. Honestly if they were down in 4A they would do a lot better...but they actually have more kids there than at Boone! Lots of them are not into farming and the leagues before then are just not built up...but still there is a lot of potential to make something! Size of the school helps but it is not the primary factor in the success of the school. It's the number of athletes in the school that matters. Boone has more student than Crockett. Actual numbers are 1130 at DC and 1250 at Boone. Both Green and Jenkins represented Wash Co well. They would love to have the budget and athletes that Clark, Stubbs, and Carter have year in and year out.
  11. With Crockett getting the win tonight I really dont think Norris will pitch anymore until the Region. They will win that game and he will go again in the substate. He may feel fine and would gladly pitch tomorrow in relief if they needed him because he is a competitor. However, prudent minds will prevail. Winning at all cost for the Toppers tomorrow doesnt benefit them. Especially if he does pitch and can not go in the Region game. Win or loose there is a tomorrow for both teams. The Crockett staff did a great job balancing their rotation and have put their team in a favorable position for the next round.
  12. He played at S. East and Tusculum. Hard worker and dedicated student of the game. He would be a fine replacement.
  13. Would a Motown East/West stadium work for Wash. CO. Boone/Crockett sharing a new stadium? Something needs to be done. DB's band can not fit in the seating at Crockett, most visiting bands cant fit for that matter. Both Wash Co stadiums have served their purpose but they are both approaching 40 yrs old and were not built to accomodate thousands fans. The press box at DC cant hold more than one radio station along with coaches and PA and clock operator. In the midst of all the renovations and upgrades to Wash Co schools, the football stadiums we not in the picture. With no $$$$$$ in the coffers we may have to grin and bear it for a while.
  14. I am not sure a veteran middle school coach, even with a couple years at the high school level is the right fit. There is no comparison between middle school athletics and high school athletics. It is apples to oranges. Not saying it will not work, but it will be tough. High School athletics is basically year round now. Everything is more intense. It is just a different game. Middle school sports, as it should be, is much more laid back. About a tenth the amount of pressure a HS varsity coach experiences. The dynamics are just different. I just feel a coach who had spent their career as at the middle school level would need about 5 years at the high school level to adjust to the transition. Just my thoughts. Best of luck to him. Maybe he'll prove us all wrong.
  15. Central's AD was being performing his AD duties at the District Tournament last night. Of course he could have just been a supportive fan. Interesting rumor though.
