  1. Let me just say that today, whatever respect I had for the Preds was lost, when they were holding a "ticket-thon" on 104.5 to boost the sales of tickets. I almost wrecked from laughing when they were interviewing the owner on my drive home today. The only funnier part was him trying to spin going from ESPN to OLN as a good thing. You want me to go to multiple games? LOWER TICKET PTICES!!!!!!!!!! That's going to be the only way. Right now I'm back to going to zero. I'm not paying that much, plus parking, concessions, etc. for a sport I know and care nothing about.
  2. Concessions, TV rights, advertising, parking..............it'll work out. That said, I never see it happening.
  3. I disagree. Yanks are going to pull this off somehow. I'm starting to wonder if Boston might be the one left out....... I really could care less. I know one of the two has to, I just hope both don't. I can't handle a third straight year of Yanks/Sox 24/7 on sports talk radio. Look at it this way, at least the Cubs no longer are closer to last than they are to second in the division!
  4. Any chance of pinning this?
  5. I see what you are saying. I don't know. I've had to call off dogs before in a basketball league I coached in, but I also made sure that if a player on my team hadn't scored that he got every opportunity to do so, regardless of score. Take care of your team first, then worry about the other team and if their feelings get hurt. That kid now has a lifelong memory and DVD of him breaking a 40 yeard run on ESPN to show his kids someday. It's the athletic highlight of his life. That said, I still don't see the harm in the call. It wasn't even a FB trap, it was a straight old fashioned 1950s FB dive. I'm sure to coach from Nease isn't too critical of it. All that aside..........one thing that I have noticed is that all of these top teams at the high school level seem to run the spread offense. Why don't more teams in state run it? If you have a half decent QB that can just dump it in to a receiver on a short out, the defenses have to spread it out to respect the pass and open up the middle for a quick back to be able to run.
  6. Until you schedule Hoover, Burns, MBA, BA, ECS out of Louisiana, and 5 Texas teams, you schedule will be considered inadaquete and all you are is beating up on weaker teams. Congrats to the W thumb arriors on making the state proud (well, at least some of us anyway.)
  7. You get credit for initating a topic after a loss. Most of the kids on here just gloat in their wins and ignore the losses. I am impressed.
  8. Backup fullback......national tv............inside handoff that he busted open..........I'd called the same play.
  9. Every time I watch games like this, I wonder why more team in TN with a quick little scat back don't go to the spread offense. It's been fun to watch. 600 yards of ofense in the 2nd half alone!
  10. No one else or myself could believe the score. Actually one dad called me a liar. Hats off the the Rebels, looks like another title is within reach.
  11. Good luck Riverdale! Make the state proud! thumb And for all the Riverdale nay-sayers and bashers............put a sock in it.
  12. I do wish I was still in Knoxville so I could see this one tonight. 2 of the top 3 team in the state regardless of classification IMO this year. I can't even decide who I think will win. I just wish I was in Knoxville!
  13. Who all is actually going to be there tonight? And what time would you recommend I show up?
  14. 26-21 was fine with me. No way 7 XPs are hit. I do, however, think Lexington wins.
  15. That's all fine and dandy except cowboy picked Riverside to win. I'll go with the 4 TD's, missed XP and failed 2 pt conversion late in the game theory myself. (And BidRed, you might want to edit that last post, coacht and the moderators are coming down hard on anythign that resembles cursing on here.)
  16. I'm still trying to figure out if that 26-21 prediction includes a couple of missed PAT's or a field goal and a safety.
  17. A couple of things happened that I don't want to post on a message board. Let's just say looking back that I can give you a couple of definitive moments where my friends and I all agree it started to go down. It was the type of thing that just took a snowball effect of one thing leading to another hurting chemistry, morale, etc. I'm really hoping that the Big Red is back though. I really don't know much about them except that I'm expecting a return to the days of Stowe and running the ball 90% of the time. I know even less about Riverside, so I'm not making any predictions on the game. I'm sure it will be a good one though.
  18. Two things happened. First, the talent cycle went dry for a few years, no bones about it. The second goes back to a couple of games and the aftermath of them in the mid 90s. Some stuff happened that changed the attitude of the program and I'm not sure it ever really recovered. After that, a lot of the excitement died. Friday is one of those good old rivalry games that goes back a long time though that always gets lost in the shuffle of rivalries because when one team is up, the other seems to be down.
  19. What were the scores of all the games? I can't fine them anywhere.
  20. I will say very few good things about Huntingdon , but their concession stand is one of the best around.
  21. FW has always had the talent, just no coach to do anything with it. They've got one now - even if he is trying to be P. Diddy. FW by 10+.
  22. Getting back to the actual jamboree itself........... Anybody got any thoughts on Lexington/Ripley?
  23. Davies (Bob, not John) would be one to know about disappointments. He, after all, was the coach who led the Irish to this state of mediocracy they are in. I think UT will be fine because Fulmer has a chip on his shoulder. He always produces when that is the case. Tell him he can't do something and he will find a way to do it. A lot of people think UT is going to be a bust, and that these new coaches are going to come in and dominate the league. I think that plus the disappointments of 02 will keep him focused. 16 days and counting!
