  1. Moore didn't walk. He is still on staff as the OC. He didn't want to be the head coach after he realized what all being the head coach actually meant, he just wanted to be in charge.
  2. Was Lawrence County approved or denied?
  3. Because the talent is there. Look at Marshall and Giles County. Two similar programs that are awful without the proper coaches and pretty darn good with quality coaches.
  4. Talent hides a lot of issues. Emmons came into the best collection of talent at SH in at least 10-12 years if not longer. With that he managed to finish in 4th place and 3rd place in the region. He benefited from a very weak sister region in the playoffs, as two years in a row the region swept in the first round. Emmons was a weak HC and the administration and fans had no reason to see anymore of the same. The staff would have to be fools no to see the same, my assumption is that they agreed with the consensus and we're thus branded traitors instead of liars. As to why Martin? Simply put, if he were to get the job he would put those kids 1st. Taking the job in the first place would likely mean him leaving a job that pays way more than he could make in the school system. I don't know many who would be willing to do that.
  5. Purple75gold is spot on. There is a real culture problem with the team and I don't think that was being addressed. Not sure that Coach E was up to the challenge of changing. He will land on his feet elsewhere fairly soon and I wish him the best. I don't buy him being forced out by assistants one bit. I can see them seeing the bigger issues not being addressed and having frustrations with that. I've been around this school off and on for decades and these families that control things from Boo's perspective simply don't exist, or else if they do I somehow have no idea who they are after all these years. And yes, Ben Martin is the right man for the job. If given the support from the parents and administration he we be very successful.
  6. I'll have to agree. Spring Hill is getting things going in the right direction and both coaching staffs have done a very good job this season. It will be enjoyable to watch two similairly matched, well coached football teams on Friday. This is exactly what you want to see as a high school football fan. There is no love lost between the two teams, yet both teams seem to stay respectful. I anticipate a very good game. I'll would give Spring Hill and the revenge factor an edge, however I think it may be negated by the game being at Page. I expect a great crowd on both sides and a close game. SH 31 Page 24
  7. You must learn to ignore BOO. He knows not of what he speaks. As someone who has seen his fair share of Spring Hill games his antics wear thin pretty quickly with me. As Tuna suggested, we can all be fans of our respective schools without speaking ill of other programs. And for the record, Coach Emmons is going nowhere. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. -Abraham Lincoln
  8. According to multiple reports, Howard Stone is no longer the HC of the Columbia Central Lions. Former Mt. Pleasant HC and current DC Jason Hoath with assume interim duties as spring practice starts Monday.
  9. Howard Stone is out at the HC of Columbia Central.
  10. I have heard that Tom Turchetta was released of his coaching duties? Can anyone confirm?
  11. Good Luck to Coach Turchetta and the Raiders!
  12. Agree that Mt. Pleasant is a much better job when it comes to talent and physical size. If a coach wants to consitantly make the playoffs and have a chance for state titles Mt. Pleasant would be preferable over Spring Hill now and in the foreseeable future.
  13. Prayers go out for Coach McAdams and his family during these times. I'm sure he will battle this with the same class and dignity he leads his program with. Well wishes Coach McAdams.
  14. I believe they are waiting out of respect for Mt. Pleasant. I don't think they want the loss of their football coach to be any distracton to the boys on the team as they try to win a state title. This is purely speculation on my part.
  15. Very keen insight in regards to Roy Vick. Some people didn't like him (mostly those who were lazy or didn't do their jobs) but he knew how to run a school. Aaron Hoath (Jason's brother) is not a certified teacher. He is a volunteer assitant and a heck of a good one at that. His work at Central with there strength and conditioning cannot be overlooked in their success. His is incredibly passionate (borderline insane ) and the kids love him. He will no doubt follow Jason if he gets the job. The lack of multi sport athletes is more on the kids than the school. It is that way nationwide. Baseball, basketball, and football are year around sports and require year around commitments. Coach Lamb (baseball) has no issue with his kids playing football and I know in the past he has even encouraged some to do so. Coach Young (basketball) not so much, but if a kid wants to play football he certainly will not tell them no. He will however let them know it could effect there playing time because of missed practices etc. etc.
