  7. Congratulations to 24 Tennessee women on 4 teams (3 of which are Tennessee teams, Lee University, Martin Methodist College and King College) that are competing in the first round of the 25th Annual 2008 NAIA Women??™s Soccer National Championships. All four colleges won their respective conferences to qualify for the National play-offs. A list of these young women follows by University. If anyone is interested in following the results, the Championship brackets can be found at: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/naia/s...08WSBracket.pdf There are 223 NAIA Universities nationally. Thirty of the teams (26 conference winners and 4 at large bids) will compete in the 1st opening rounds held this year at the highest seeds location on November 22. Then the 15 winners travel to Daytona to the host Embry Riddle University for second round, quarterfinals, semifinals and the National Championship from December 1-6th. All games played at Daytona will be broadcast via live video and audio-streaming at: http://www.watchnaia.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?db_oem_id=5901 Lee University 20-1-0 ranked #2 nationally http://www.goladyflames.com/soccer Southern States Athletic Conference NAIA National Championship Appearances 5th (5th straight) NAIA Playoff Record 7-3-1 0 Championships Titles For the fifth straight year, the Lee University women??™s soccer team is the champion of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament. During 08 Lee??™s only loss came from non conference #1 ranked Lindsey Wilson (KY). Lee goes into the 1st round of Nationals with a 14 game winning streak. Quite a rivalry has developed between Lee and Martin Methodist. Lee has been victorious during regular non conference season play against Martin Methodist defeating the Redhawks for the first time in 2007 and again this year in 2008 in regular non conference season play. However in 2005 championship play, Lee advanced to the National Championship match but lost to Martin Methodist. In 2006 Lee was defeated by Martin Methodist in the National quarterfinals. In 2007 Lee played a National semifinal match and once again was unsuccessful in their bid to defeat Martin Methodist. 02 Jamie Achten, Forward, Freshman, Franklin, Tenn. The RedHawks have outscored TSAC opponents 257 to 6 in 5 years and did not allow a TranSouth opponent to score against them througout the 2008 season. Martin Methodist??™s only loss, breaking a 24 game winning streak, came from #2 ranked Lee. However ironically, #3 ranked Martin Methodist handed #1 ranked Lindsey Wilson (KY) their only loss for 2008. The RedHawks will enter their 1st round Nationals match with a streak of 10 consecutive shutouts while only allowing three goals all season. 16 Ali Crowley, Defender, Sophomore, Manchester, Tenn. 8. I heard Boski was feeling gratuitous since no one took him up on his housing wager and had resorted to handing out black trash bags... but alas, perhaps Boski saved just one to put over his head! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  9. Congratulations to FRA for the win and to the GC program for a great season. I bet FRA enjoyed playing a match on a pitch of the quality of the Martin Methodist field. Pulaskivol, u called the score.. any details?
  10. Hey Big G.. understand, your point taken. I know this coaches background, aprx 20 years or so, about the 2 coach of the year SEC, the 5 NCAA shows in his previous 10 year tenure.. but I wanted to see flatlines' response. Wasn't suggesting at all they weren't well coached and the team isn't successful. Flatline was making a coaching comparison as if coaching would be a significant edge. I think in this particular case that there are more issues of greater bearing on the outcome of this upcoming match and not disagreeing with the probable outcome regarding the W in the FRA column. I wanted to see if Flatline had any particulars about the coaching style that supported what he seemed to be saying. I happen to believe in the young coach at GC as I've pointed out her successes in another Coach-T string. Soccer is a free-flowing game where players do make their own decisions and while there maybe many factors that contribute to a programs success, a coach can train what he/she has to work with on a skill and experience level, but the player executes. I think the GC coach is a tactical qualified practitioner of the game, understands and can relate to female high school athletes and will make a difference in their program
  11. Respectfully, what charts u been reading??? Please define that coaching edge.
  12. Pulaskivol is correct - she was player of the year in 05. This young Giles County coach, graduated in 08 and also is now the assistant coach for the Redhawks. As Martin Methodist's starting center-mid, she was the most decorated player in the NAIA in 05, earning the NAIA/Brine and NSCAA/adidas NAIA Women's Soccer Player of the Year Award. She was also selected to the First Team All-America, First Team All-Region XI and First Team All-TranSouth Athletic Conference. She was named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Year and the NAIA Region XI Player of the Year. She is from England and before moving to the states she was named the National Women's Football Academy Football Player of the Year in 2003-04, and has trained with the Irish National Team. Her coach at Martin Methodist has been published twice in the world's leading coaching resource magazine "World Class Coaching" in coaching sessions entitled, "Combination and Penetration" and "Passing to keep Possession". She understands championships and competing to win... I'm sure her program and her very fortunate young soccer players will benefit. Good Luck GC
  13. Not to take the fun out of it for any of the "Magnificent 7" that chiseled their names onto the tablets of predictive fame (or shame) /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> last year ... I wonder if this link might embolden a few more to jump into the frey - or not ... "Dirty Dozen"??? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> http://members.aol.com/jonagrm/soccer/rankings.htm#polls
  14. Congratulations to both teams bringing something special to a district matchup by raising nearly $4,000 for Soccer for a Cure.
