I wish I could remember names, but there have been 4-5 Brentwood kids over the last 18 years that were the best I have seen. Brewster (Notre Dame) and the setter they had was incredible. A few years ago I think DB had two of the best players on the same team. Setter/Hitter combo. Ravenwood had a setter (auburn) and hitter Kat (Alabama) combo that were incredible. There was girl at Germantown the last time they won the state that was so good. Anderson County has had a couple of combinations that have been great too. Farragut has a good one now, but she isn't greatest ever quite yet. She is a joy to watch though. Tennessee is getting better and better. Very exciting.

K2, I completely agree. It was out of line to even suggest that. I am so happy for Farragut. This is a big deal for Knoxville AAA volleyball. I was basing my opinion on their struggles in the past and it was wrong. I would love to have seen them play. I also agree that Siegel isn't an elite program. Not sure what consituites elite. The school is 12 years old and they have been to the state 8 times. But they have never had the talent to win. Brentwood is clearly elite, is there anyone else? Ravenwood was for about 6 years.

A game wouldn't have the seating. I think Sigel's venue is nice enough, it just isn't fair for the other teams--as well as Siegel, for them to host. i know everyone comes down on Siegel about this, however they would prefer not to host. it is very diffucult on the parents and the kids feel even more pressure and distractions. The pressure on them to perform at home is stupid and the disadvantage the other teams have is also ridiculous. It is awful and a no win situation.

I hope you are right Fly. The Siegel Brentowood game will be great hopefully. The farragut --loser game will be also great. Would love to see Farragut get another chance at Brentwood. I was wondering if the brentwood folks think this might be one of the best brentwood teams ever? only losing one game is crazy, especially with the tournaments that they play in. I know they have to win the state to be considered one of the best ever--which they havne't done yet. I have seen just about every brentwood team for the last 16-17 years and there have been some incredible teams. This appears to be the best Faragut and Siegel teams ever too.

So embarrassing. I can slightly handle the high schools but middle school is a slap in the face.

Would have loved to see both of these aaa matches. Happy to see two very competitive matches. Day two does look to be exciting. So tough to come back from a 5 set heartbreaker. Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.

I am so confused by you. I have never said there weren't other good teams. I agree that south, ac, Siegel, Farragut are all good. I am agreeing with you in that. But you are right. Bwood is hands down the best program. It isn't close. They will win another this year prob. I have never touted Siegel as the best. Ever. I'm not calling you names or attacking you.

That makes me laugh. So it takes a coacht post to get Farragut fired up huh. What does Siegel have to do with any of this? Other than winning the District, Region and Substate almost every year, Siegel hasn't won anything. They have never been good enough to win the state. There have been only a handful of teams in AAA in the last 15 years that have been good enough. Ravenwood, Brentwood or Indy were the majority. Those DB teams were great. The two best teams in the state come out of 11AAA every year. How can you say there is balance? I would love it if FHS they made it to the State Championship--it is just unlikely.

interesting so far across all divisions that the matches are not very close. Most are winning in three with the exception of a couple of matches. Farragut, Goodpasture, Trinity, St George, Boyd, Knox Catholic, Knox Webb, Siegel and Brentwood.

Farragut wouldnt win state with the best coach in the state. They don't have the talent top to bottom that the best teams in the state do. Brentwood, Ravenwood, Siegel etc just have more talent. Still not sure why they never come to middle tennessee. They typically come to the state and get hammered, i think many times because they have been playing poor competition for most of the year. 11 AAA top four is typically better than the half of the teams that qualify for the state.

I don't think Brentwood will win easy, however they are the favorite. Would love to see an exciting AAA final. They are usually not close matched. Go Siegel!

So Black Ops is only for Div 1 kids? So a kid that plays for a Div 2 school is unwelcome? (even though the top half of Div 2 could beat the bottom half of Div 1)

It is absolutley pitiful that TSSAA allows a Middle School to host a state championship. Siegel has hosted for many years, so I am not surprised by that. It will be Brentwood and Siegel in the finals. Wouldn't doubt that either school will lose a game until the final. This is by far the best Siegel team in the 8 previous state qualifying teams. Best of luck, hope to attend the finals!

i have seen every Siegel team play since the school opened and this is the most talented team they have had. Not sure how they under perform every year. They have never been good enough to win a state championship (mid 2000's they had a team that was good enough but a late injury changed all of that), yet they get to the state about every year and the final 4 several times. How is that under performing? The simple fact is DB, Ravenwood and Brentwood were all better then them over the last 10 years at different times. I hope the do well!

I agree 100%. Makes no sense. They double up simply because of money. But of course they will lose money on a tournament that plays at 10:00 on a Thursday. I dont blame the schools or the hosts--but this is how is has been ran for years by tssaa.

Soddy didn't show up last night against Siegel. A lot respect to SDHS however. One of the great programs in the state every year.

ORCAT acts like a child and has been doing this crap on here for years. It is comical at the end of each year to read her predictions. I don't understand why, but knoxville area posters are always tearing each other down on here.

I don't have a big problem with it. The pool play set up was tough cause 3 of the best 4 team could be in the same side and only the top two go. I think this happened one year in AAA when arguably the 3rd best team in the tournament did't get out of pool play. I think this is the best way because it assures the two best teams get to the finals. Speaking of that, there was finally a competitive state finals in a couple of divisions. AAA finals are typically a 3 or 4 game sweep. Good to see that.

This is complete crap. DB's setter was the best volleyball player in the state. Not to mention best setter. Their Middle is better then all three of the middles listed as well. How can you say they did a good job selecting this team? Find me a better outside than Riverdale's OS as well. I am not saying the kids on the list arent good. I think the coach of the year should have been Karns coach. Who wins at Karns? Ever?
