  1. Good game tonight in Oak Ridge with the wildcats winning 3-2 in a rainy, sloppy game. Pretty good pitching from both sides. Halls got really good pitching from Spenny but the bats really never got going. Especially in the top of the 7th when the Red Devils had the bases loaded and no outs and didnt get a run out of it. You can always second guess things but I might have tried a squeez in that situation, especially with the rainy conditions. I think someone said we left 9 runners stranded on the night. But good win for OR and good luck to them the rest of the season and these teams will prolly meet again down the road. As Always....Go Big Red!
  2. Good call Mad, I think it will come back and haunt us in a game or two, maybe in the tournaments because we have had some games with errors and we are 5-0 against the top 3 teams in the district but who know. Big one tomorrow at OR. As Always....Go Big Red!
  3. I don't really know the catcher from Oak Ridge but I like him because he helped the Halls basketball team beat Oak Ridge at Oak Ridge. His cute little outfit helped fire up the red devils and specifically Cameron as he went off for 31 points in that game, much to the dismay of his look-a-like. OR is undefeated in district play but they have played some of the bottom feeders in the district while Halls is undefeated in district play too but they have swept 2 of the top 3 teams in Karns and West. I look forward to seeing the sophomore pitcher for OR against the explosive Halls bats....it should be a good 2 games but I see Halls taking both. As Always....Go Big Red!
  4. Great win last night and yes a very impressive game from JM Clarke. He went the distance going all 7 innings and only giving up 2 runs and the Pate kid went either 0 for 3 or 0 for 4. Defense played very solid comitting 0 errors, and thats a definate upgrade from the Monday game with Karns when we had 7. Oak Ridge is undefeated but I think they have only played the bottom teams in the district like Clinton and Campbell County in thier first 4 games. Good luck to them today as they travel to Jeff. County and good luck to some of the younger kids as I think they will get alot more playing time than usual. As Always....Go Big Red!
  5. I also agree with the blue collar tag and the tag about no superstars. As for the game tonight, how about lets not give the Pate kid anything he can even come remotely close to getting the bat on, he can hit the ball pretty well. The defense will step up and play better tonight and we will hit the ball well enough to win! As Always....Go Big Red!
  6. Good point on it being contagious, if there is 1 error in an inning, then there might be 3 or 4, like in the ?4th inning?(might have been it) when we had 3 or 4 and they scored about 5 runs. Spenny should have been out of that inning with a 5-3 lead at worst! Defense obviosly needs to step up and help out the pitching. This Halls team can still hit the ball as well as any team in East Tennessee. I like the fact that even when we dont play our best(last night and first game against West) we still find a way to get the W and thats all that matters. Big three games coming up starting at Karns tomorrow and the home and away with Oak Ridge next week as Halls, West, Karns, and Oak Ridge look to be the top 4 in the district this year. If we can win the next 3 then we will be sitting very pretty after the first 3 weeks of district play. As Always....Go Big Red!
  7. ProVol, Wednesday and Thursday were pretty tough but Friday was a lot better! The service at Beaver Dam was very good! The Halls community is coming together and getting through everything! Also, thanks to everyone who has been praying for these 2 tragedies and please continue to Pray! As Always....Go Big Red!
  8. Yes, unfortunately this sad stuff is true....Amanda Cabbage-Cheerleader and graduate of PHS died in a tragic car accident yesterday....Cam and her had been dating for about 2 years. Also, it was a school security officer who was shot and killed last night....He was much more than an officer to Halls High School. Basketball, or any sporting event or extracurricular activity for that matter is far from the minds of the people in Halls and Powell right now. Matt Hargis-Enemy on the court-True friend off the court....He came to visit Cam last night when a bunch of us were over there with Cam....I dont care if you love, dislike, or hate him....He is a classy guy and a true friend! Please pray for the families, friends, and loved ones of Amanda Cabbage and Officer Russell Kocur! As Always....Go Big Red!
  9. Graham didnt only started one game last year and that was senior night....Gary Copper, a sophomore started every game except for one last year and he will be returning this year.
  10. Both are phenominal players! I really don't see how you could pick one over the other. I played against their AAU team and I play high school with Cameron Sharp and he is one of my best friends so I heard about them through him. I think Wiggins might be a hair better offensively but Omar is better defensively. They are both incredible players! Don't know who said that Omar pointed fingers or is a bad teammate because Cam has played with him for about 4 years or so and he never once said anything about him being a bad teammate. In fact Omar was prolly Cam's favorite teammate. As Always...Go Big Red!
  11. We were missing 2 starters pretty much the whole fall league like someone said earlier with Varner going to the state in golf and Cooper playin football. We don't lose any starters from last year and Powell only loses one or two, and Oak Ridge just reloads every year. I think it will be a dog fight between those 3 teams all season! Hargis is a great player and a great talker and that is a major part of his game. That is absolutely nothing against him because I love the kid! I played all summer with him! He can get in people's heads and under their skin very easily causing them to play bad. He doesn't talk much during the Halls/Powell game because the teams have so much respect for each other and he knows we can take it but it really bothers some other teams. I think he is a better baseball player than basketball player but he is a heck of a basketball player! Halls/Powell is an amazing rivalry but I guarantee neither of the teams will even think about those games until they come. The players and coaches view it as just another important district game. As Always....Go Big Red!
  12. 17-7 Halls with the lead with about 8 minutes to go in the game and it was called due to lightning....Principals said they were going to finish it but I think the rule is players are allowed on the field 30 minutes after the last lightning strike but I still saw some lightning on my way home. Don't know if this game will finish tonight or not. Halls played pretty solid except for an early special teams miscue. Bad snap on a punt and SD recovered at about their 20 or so which turned into 7 points. Offense had a touchdown drive, Dayton returned a punt for a touchdown, and O'Kicker somehow booted a 51 yarder in the rain. Halls was playing pretty solid on defense too! As Always....Go Big Red!
  13. Great Post Rob! ProVol, Nice post and I'm starting to like the moonpie idea myself! We should follow up with this! I might make it a new pre-game tradition when basketball season rolls around....Nice little snack to get me going before a big game! As Always....Go Big Red!
  14. Halls wins this game easily! I also agree with some of the other posters about the Powell fans. I have no problem with any of them but they say all Halls fans hate them but every Halls post that is made they come into it and talk about Powell and usually dawg the Red Devils? As Always....Go Big Red!
  15. Balke Gildner-Starting Middle Line Backer at Fulton, Played at Halls until Junior Year. Blake Beeler-Starting QB at Webb, Played at Halls until 7th or 8th grade and I think still lives in Halls. Brent Burnette-Starting QB at Maryville, Played at Halls until 8th Grade Travis Carpenter-Co-Starting LB at Maryville, Played at Halls Until Sophomore year. Johnathan Price-Starting DB at Powell, Played at Halls until I think 8th or 9th grade year. Lee Smith-Everyone knows about him, Played at Halls until 7th grade. Kevin Dyer, Bubba Johnson, and Sean Adkins-Started at Central, Played at Halls until 7th or 8th grade. I don't know the other 3 at Powell you are talking about but those are the ones I know of. And not to mention the countless kids who quit for the same reason these others transfered.
