  1. Coach Alexander retired. The new Head Football coach at Melrose is Darryl Stewart from George Washington Carver high school in Birmingham Alabama where he was head coach.
  2. The Melrose Golden wildcats roared back from a 36-19 halftime deficit to defeat Mitchell 48-42. The reported demise of the 2010 Golden Wildcats has been exaggerated. We're not dead yet!
  3. Timothy Baldwin has been diagnosed with a fractured ankle and Courtney Drain is reported as suffering a pinched nerve in his neck.
  4. As reported by another poster on this thread, my Golden Wildcats got a victory over Wooddale on Thursday night. Our total demise has been exaggerated. We had a couple of scary injuries and our prayers go out to the kids and their families. Some people underestimate what it means for Orange Mound kids to wear the Maroon and Gold. These kids and the Orange Mound Community will not let this program be down long. This Melrose team is not one of our most talented, but won't quit and will get better. KDub, you are a big reason that the Memphis football experience on Coach T has improved. I dropped off a lot as my son was playing here in Texas. You kept the juices flowing with the Big Games in Memphis posts. Kudos!!! The football talent in Memphis is far reaching. White Station beating Maryville last year was a big step to gaining much deserved respect for Memphis high school football. I don't have the opportunity to see games in Memphis much anymore so I limit my posts. One thing I do know is Don't Sleep On the Golden Wildcats Baby! I still agonize over our lack of kicking game. For health reasons, I won't get into that conversation too deep!
  5. Melrose will surprise you TraderB. They've been in every game against good competition. This team will learn how to win. Soon KDub!
  6. TraderB, Don't count my Golden Wildcats out too fast. We might have a rabbit or 2 up our sleeves! You are surely right about Orange Mound going bonkers if things go bad. OMW
  7. Congratulations to the Melrose Golden Wildcats - Tennessee AAA State Champions 2010! Also, great season White Station Spartans. Orange Mound is "Poppin" tonight!
  8. TraderB, I'm hearing that he is playing. Can't say he is 100% though.
  9. Rucker does have a broken ankle. So he is definitely out for the championship game. The rest of the guys will have to pick up the slack. 6'9"sophomore Darius Moore can be a big boost if he can give some quality minutes. The White Station Bigs really stepped up in the semi-finals. Melrose can't let them get off like that. If Wilkerson is out, Melrose gets a little smaller but can replace him in the starting lineup with McAfee. Each of the previous games these teams have played have had different identities. One thing for sure is that the guys will leave it all on the floor. I'm pulling for my golden Wildcats to circle the wagons and bring the gold ball back to Orange Mound!
  10. It depends on where you are located. The TSSAA website has some TV information at http://tssaa.org/2009Champions/StateGBa ... liates.htm
  11. Kudos to Marvin Williams! 18 and 15..... Sounds like he had CAREER highs in each category! I doubt very seriously that Marvin has ever produced this much, in ONE game... I know that, personally, I have NEVER seen him come up this big! ------------------------------------- What about Nino Johnson's final stats, anybody know? Nino seemed to be dominating just as much as Marvin. Overall, OUTSTANDING effort by White Station's big men. Heck, even Jordan Myles' name got called quite a bit. Nino had 8 points on 4 for 10 shooting, 9 rebounds . 1 assist, no blocks
  12. TraderB, I had it sitting on ice. No disrespect intended to any of the other teams in the final 8, as I have seen stranger things happen, but many of us knew it would come to this. I really hate the injury situation is in play.
  13. Well it's Melrose vs. White Station for the Gold Ball. This will be the 5th time these guys have met this year with Melrose holding a 3-1 edge. It appears that Melrose will be without Rucker which is a big blow. Wilkerson also left the game with an injury and did not return. Can Melrose's depth overcome these injuries and the outstanding White Station Spartans?
  14. Uhh... did he get hurt also (I missed the 1st half of the game)? Wow. Heard Wilkerson has eye injury. I'm not sure how serious
  15. Yep, doesn't sound good. Any word on Nate Rucker's condition? Heard that his father was called to the locker room....so it does not sound good at all.
