  1. Hopefully Indy carries their foul stench to MTSU. Oh, the sweet smell of stink. I don't think "smryna" will whip anyone, but Smyrna will be a most worthy foe and they are the champs until someone can unseat them. Congrats also to the Trojan kids and the large majority of their fans, there is no way to diminish a 13-0 run, that is pretty special.
  2. And suddenly every internet connection in the Shelby County area goes down. Funny how that worked. Congrats Eagles!
  3. Looking for the "please block from the internet until sanity is regained" button on Eaglet. No such luck. If you are going, consider arriving mucho early if you want a decent seat. I think they announced 5.5k paid at the Centennial game, and there wasn't a whole lot of room left that night. We are excited to host a state powerhouse team like Franklin in a game that means something...this kind of buzz is still quite new to IHS. Good luck to the boys in blue, green and gold on what is going to be quite an emotional night. (mental note...i need to change my coacht name now that i've left kenwood...)
  4. Some more info about MTSU's facility: http://goblueraiders.com/?go=Story&doc=170 And I don't even want to talk about the 5k thing right now, I'll get upset again. And what about Chief's question? At least half our schedule is 5k races because of our proximity to Kentucky.
  5. Coach Ethridge says that the board of directors from the TSSAA has rejected the proposal to move from 3 miles to 5k at the state meet. They gave their justification, but I fear that they are ignorant as to what is best for the sport in this state. The coaches have the body of knowledge and the pulse of the sport, but in the case, it appears it went for naught. At least this time around. The course will still be officially measured this summer, to an exact 3.0 it appears to correct for the slight shortness that has plagued the course in recent memory. edited to try to clarify for golden eagle
  6. Given a year, MTSU could figure out how to make it happen if they wanted to. I mean, Vandy just pulled off the SEC Championships in a venue that should have been WAY too small to pull that off. Vandy had to get creative, and Middle might have to get equally creative. I'm sure whoever put the bid together for Murfreesboro has at least considered this to some extent.
  7. I missed the field all together. That's the pain in the tail of having both girls and boys together...having girls that are finished that you have to babysit while I could be watching the field events. I wish I could have seen that shot and disc. I'm sure I'll run into you next year somewhere, you'll have the bullseye on you next year as the guy everyone is trying to catch.
  8. I can't believe I missed this thread, this is comic gold. After all the trash talking, this is what actually happened... Boys Shot Put D-I AAA 1 Lavin, Evan 12 Knox West 56-02.50 17.13m 10 2 Pickle, Eric 11 Bearden 54-09.50 16.70m 8 3 Williams, Daniel Memp. East 53-00.00 16.15m 6 4 Quabner, Kenny Memp. Central 52-06.50 16.01m 5 5 Thomas, Aaron Hunters Lane 49-09.00 15.16m 4 6 Jasper, Michael Mt. Juliet 49-07.00 15.11m 3 7 Johnson, Raymond Chatt. Central 48-02.50 14.69m 2 8 White, Justin McMinn Co. 43-01.50 13.14m 1 BHS and his buddy dropped the hammer on the field...and it just made reading this thread make me laugh. Talk is indeed inexpensive.
  9. Looks like the board is open to all again. Anybody that has information for scheduling purposes, go ahead and post it here. Coach Ethridge will take care of the Knoxville area, Coach Parks the Chattanooga area, and I've got middle TN. A rough MSCC schedule of midstate non-Nashville interest is up on the midstate site... HERE Happy training this summer to all.
  10. This rumor is unsubstantiated without graphical and/or video evidence
  11. Just the respect and admiration of everyone on this board. It doesn't really get better than that, does it? 1:57.4 is cooking, he just ran into two monsters in Hill and Sorrell.
  12. He's going to run for the Hoyas of Georgetown.
  13. It looks like one of the regular posters on here, BHSFootball, had a huge state meet...winning the AAA discus state title (by almost ten feet!) and very nearly winning the shot put over his buddy Evan. Just a junior, BHS will be a terror in AAA next year. That's 18 points, just by himself. 164' and 54' are monster tosses, way to take home some major hardware. And his teammate looked just sick in the 400, he shut up a lot of people here in middle TN that thought Franklin's Hewitt would up end him. Nope.
  14. I just looked at your marks...you are a monster in both throws. Good gravy, your shot from sectional would have won state last year by plenty. A monster, I say. It's also good to have a guy that can unload the shot and also wing the disc. I've known a ton of throwers who are great in one, but just so-so in the other. Must be a pretty good technician to be that solid in both.
  15. I think Coach Chris's is based on a "form chart", and form charts are meant to be broken. There were a lot of teams like your 4x4 that just cruised to get in and that will be a lot faster in the finals. So we what fit into the form chart as 2 points should really be 6 or 8. That's happening a lot, so the point totals are going to be noticeably different when we do this for real. I think a lot of Houston's success is happening right now as we speak, as they got the motherlode into the decathlon. After tomorrow, it'll be easier to prognosticate I think Houston has the horses, but they can't afford any miscues. I'm definitely going to try to come around for the shot...I need to see that kid from Knox West drop a 60' bomb. I'm still a little depressed our triple jumper would be 3rd in the state and he's not even jumping. He was 3rd in sections behind the 1st and 2nd seeded guys in the state...so I'll have to stay away from the jumps for my sake. Girls...I know Chris isn't going to like this, but I figure rougly Brentwood 80, Rossview 62, and his girls a close third. For example, the 100m dash...Rossview's studettes seed 7th and 8th. But Lynette has finished 2nd in the 100 for the last 2 years in a row as state, and Trish was 3rd two years ago. Lynette has beaten everyone in the field except for Erica Palmer...so what probably went in the form chart as 3 points for Rossview should probably be closer to 12, even coming out of lanes 1 and 8. Just an example among many that makes this thing impossible to predict. But fun, anyway. And Chris...awesome, awesome work with results and the predictions. You helped a ton this year. Sorry I'm betting against your girls for the runner up spot Did you figure the pentathlon / decathlon in your predictions. BHS gets 10 and RHS 6 out of today, I'm guessing.
