  1. Wednesday, 01/10/07 Rutledge out at MBA By JEFF LOCKRIDGE Staff Writer Jeff Rutledge has resigned as Montgomery Bell Academy’s football coach and athletics director after five seasons. In a statement released today, MBA Headmaster Brad Gioia said: “MBA will look ahead positively to filling both positions.” Rutledge, a former Alabama player, 14-year NFL veteran and Vanderbilt quarterbacks coach, had a 41-17 record at MBA after succeeding Ricky Bowers, who is now at Ensworth. Rutledge did not immediately return phone calls. MBA won Division II-AAA state championships in Rutledge’s first two seasons of 2002 and ’03, but failed to reach the final in ’04 and ’05 and missed the playoffs entirely with a 4-6 record in ’06. It was the first time since 1993 the Big Red was left out of the postseason. Rutledge’s falling out with the MBA community is thought to have stemmed from his interviews for Brentwood Academy’s coaching job, which was filled 10 days ago by ex-McCallie Coach Ralph Potter. MBA will put together a search committee in the coming days to find a new coach and A.D. Daniel McGugin, a MBA assistant and alumnus who coached Franklin Road Academy from 2004-05, is believed to be a leading candidate to fill the football coaching vacancy.
  2. Lockridge is an alum of Johnny Overton.
  3. who will interview (35 aps) and when???? also what about Hillwood?? when and who?
  4. Where did you get that stat cut it out? Every year i have gone to Ryan's graduation, the program lists no one going to any Ivy league school. They rarely have anyone get in Notre Dame. I don't know about MBA either but if that stat is true-I would be very surprised.
  5. what is the format for this jambo?? are the times scheduled for each game? will they play a quarter or a half each??
  6. Gtowner & Gallatin fans et al. This is a little off the topic here but long overdue. I have great respect for Gallatin football, great tradition, great fans, great program. My problem is with the lack of respect that you show to other schools. On this thread you have mentioned each school in your region with the exception of Mcgavock. I know that they have been a long running joke in football, in the past. All of that was PB (prior to Broom). Mcgavock destroyed Gallatin last year 34-27 (2 late Wave TD made score closer than the game actually was). Mcgavock is the defending champion in this region!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gallatin made some nice t shirts, something about revenge for Shipley, They were going to beat Mcgavock as bad as they possibly could. Lassiter refused to trade film with the Mcgavock staff. all of that blew up in your face. You got whipped. I will sit back and listen to you pump your egos up all year,I will talk to after the Raider Nation invades Gtown week 10. (oh wait the raider nation is a metro school --no gate for you. sorry). Overton and Hillwood welcome to the party. You will find that this is a competitive region, looking to find a way past williamson co. come playoff time. Hunters Lane has a great QB, Antioch has Preston Brown, Hendersonville has a great back (sorry name escapes me), and Mcgavock has the region MVP returning in Carter, Glencliff has their QB back and should be improved, Gallatin has some skill people back but oline is unproven, The word on the new arrivals is that Hillwood lost several players and could struggle early, Overton has some decent LBs but soft up front and no proven QB or RB. Should make for a very competitive region once again. I wont bore you with my predictions at this time, but Overton, Hillwood, Antioch and Gallatin could be playin hoops come week 11.
  7. Well well my friend austin.. Good news Gallatin will be in a new and improved region. It will be : 1. Defending region CHAMPION Mcgavock 2. Hunters Lane 3. Antioch 4. Glencliff 5. Hillwood 6. Overton 7. Hendersonville 8. Gallatin We just love playing those Sumner county teams because they bring such good gates and it is oh so fun beatting them. Mcgavock was the 5A sumner county champs this year. More good news austin your good friend "fatboy" from Mcgavock will be back to lay another 34 point smack down on your beloved green wave. You can cry and cry and sue T$$aa but the Raiders are still your daddy till you prove other wise. Tell RL nice bit of class not trading tape w/ Broom our Raiders loved that extra bit of motivation. Well just wanted to say hello cause you crawled under a rock after week 7. well best of luck in basketball, and Hope we get to come to Green wave country next year, I hear that it is a great place to see a game. You can count on atleast a gate of one.
  8. gallatin has no chance of winning this region, they are to slow to keep up with the metro schools, HL will pound them just as last year. The winner of Ant. Mc should be second with the loser being third, and the sumner county boys fighting for the final spot. The only other senario would be if Ant. were to lose to Mc and then beat HL, but HL has the tie breaker over Mc. This must be crazy Mc in the playoffs, way to go Coach Broome...... you the man......
  9. gtowner what game did you watch?? Gallatin fumbled because the Mc D was laying the smack down on your boys. Mike Tribue must be the happiest man in the world right now. I think that # 12 from Mc was the difference, he clearly outplayed #1 from Gallatin, what is that kids name??? well I must admit that the Gallatin fans did show class and used good behavior in what had to have been a very disappointing night. an earlier post mentioned that Gallatin did not trade film w/ Mc, but the asst. coaches from Gallatin didnot like it when a Mc coach reminded them of this after the game. I just want to say how proud I was of our players and coaches what a great win!!!!!!!!!!!!
