1. I have an idea LA. Let's schedule sunbright, Cumberland co. , and Macon co! Those kind of games really help you when you play a good team huh? Haven't followed the program in a few years but when Richard was there they played some tough teams during the HOF games to prepare for the tournament. The districts weak enough! Play someone strong. Instead of worrying about getting a W how bout play someone good and take a L if it comes to that. You learn nothing and gain nothing by playing such weak teams.

  2. Well "genius," I do recall those two teams being two of the better boys basketball teams I can remember seeing. I know East Lit. is not that caliber. Fulton and Bolivar, both great teams, could shoot it from anywhere. Could do anything they wanted to. I've seen a lot of East Lit teams. I hope they teach more than speed, because in the past, they've needed a lot more.

You can not teach speed. For the second time. It's hard for teams like LA to come from such a weak district/region and play kids that are much more athletic and have much more speed. Simply because they're not used to it. It's tough to do what you normally do when you feel sped up and out of sink the entire game.

  3. Been collecting rabbit feet (not for good luck) after the LA and CC game. No one can say this is not a great district for H.S. basketball from the top to bottom. Got to go and pass out these feet. Still have no ideal out this turns out hard to beat someone 3 times. Your rabbits do pretty good on 3 legs but some of them still fall over! :thumb:

This is the worst disrict/region in TN! How many district crowns has LA won in a row? I don't think this year will be any different with such weak teams.

  4. What makes Dunn so good in you're eyes.

If it's his scoring I agree with you he can score points (with alot of attempts).

If that's the criteria for MVP give it to Wright.

The Smith kid impresses me more than Dunn.

/roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> No one in the district is on Dunn's level. He should get MVP. If he doesn't it's just a shame. He is probably one of the top 5 players in AA.

  5. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Sorry, but I wasn't joking!!! Dunn will have to be the man this yr though. He has no competition.

/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Dunn would be the man regardless if Bass was at Dekalb or not. Seems to me like if Bass is sooo much better than Dunn he would have lead his team last year to 1st or 2nd in the District. Where'd they place? Or he could have lead his team over LA without Dunn in the District Tournament Semi-Finals. Or atleast thats what the "best" so called person in this district would have done.

  6. Smith County probably will have a good team...a fourth place team. Believe it or not, but Dekalb has reloaded again after losing Randolph and Hooper. Look for DC tigers to beat LA twice and push Upperman to the limit. DC may drop a game to smith, but just one.

I highly doubt the DC Tigers will beat LA once. LA has a young team, but most of these guys have been playing together since 4th grade. It wouldn't surprise me if LA takes the district crown at the end of the year. But who knows anything can happen.

  7. You better worry about the BEES and quit looking ahead. You all will be lucky to

beat them and if your lucky enough there's no way you beat LA or Macon.

Tennisguy in case you didn't know LA lost to Lipscomb earlier in the year down there by 3 so yes we can and will play with Greenbrier Whitehouse and whoever.

:thumb: Good Post...Tennisguy are you being serious??...LA has already beat Station Camp at the East Litature Christmas Tourney...they are the second place team in District 8-AA...

  8. All i'm going to say was this was a 4 point game when my son took a flagrant foul, a kick to the throat in the open court, now mind you he wasnt' on the ground he ball faked Cates, went around him and that is when he got kicked in the throat while he was standing up because the defender went sailing through the air and just tried to do whatever he could to stop my son. It was very very scary for all of us. There wasn't a flagrant or intentional foul called on this play as a matter of fact there was no foul called. Everyone in the gym seen it and how bad it was, people including doctors were running onto the court before the whistle even blew, except for the ref's that were calling the game. The one head ref walked over to the coach and said he never seen it happen, he was only 5 feet away and it happened at the top of the key but he "said" he never seen it. At that point the fouls were 8-1 in favor of the home team and they weren't for whatever reason going to call anything against LA. So i don't want to hear anyone from LA ever get on these boards and complain about calls or no calls like they did after the Lipscomb game. What was amazing though was after that incident they started calling everything and anything. After that happened the game went to pot, not sure what happened and really don't care. LA won at home and Clay won at home. No big deal this game means nothing. I have many friends that are ref's and there are some very good ones out there so i dont' want to imply that it was the ref's fault that Clay lost a game because tonight the better team won period. Good luck to LA the rest of the way. B)

How many minutes were on the clock when it was a four point game in the first quater??

    B) Godwin fakes a shot Cates jumps and hits him in the cheek then he takes a couple dribbles shoots a air ball then he looks at the ref and fell to the floor holding his throat. The refs blew their whistles and then two women come onto the floor. From the refs point of view which was the way i saw it on video..it didnt even look like Cates hit him at all.

The fouls at the end of the first quater was 7 - 4 in favor of LA!

  9. Dunn is a GREAT ball player. But Cates is a natural born leader. He brings more to the team than whats in the stat books. But yes, he can Handle the Rock.

I think we may be jumping the gun on Chase. He is good. But, lets not just keep giving him stuff to live up to and putting unneeded pressure on him just yet. In due time.. In due time...

    GO HOG-EYE

Good post. I don't think it is fair to compare Dunn to Cates right now. Like General said Cates is a natural born leader and he will continue to be a leader this year. Maybe in the years to come we will be able to say the same about Dunn.

  10. This game will be close, neither team will win by more than 10 points. I see Clay winning at home for obvious reasons. I watched LA play this summer at camp and i know all about the new kids, however Clay County is much more experienced and through the first 7 players are better than LA. Without Cates there to matchup against #33 it will be hard for LA to control the game. The young kid that is doing all the scoring will be shut down by Mr. Walden who is only rivaled by Cates on defense and can score over anyone. If you don't believe me look at Joseph Baileys stats for the district and region tournament. Didn't have 20 points in two games against Clay County with Walden on him. Thats why my son said in the paper that Walden should have been the MVP not him. It will be a great game and i can't wait, by the way me and my boys will be in Murphreesboro rooting for ya'll this weekend! :thumb:

So you are judging these kids on what you saw them do in summer camp?

  11. Where do all the 7AA teams play this week? How is everyone looking so far?

LA @ Cookeville on Tuesday, then @ Clay County on Thursday. (i think that is right)

Macon Co vs. Gordonsville on Tuesday

UHS vs. Jackson on Monday, vs DCA on Tuesday

Who else plays who and what are the predicitons.

I think LA plays Macon Co Friday night at LA. It will be a tough week for LA. Should be interesting to watch how they do this week.

  12. He is good ,but he lacks basics.DEFENSE.When allons played Celina there point guard almost brought it back and won the game .Judah Akers for Algood did.Almost twice. They put Chase on both of them.I'm not bustin chase's chops on this one .He is good ,but he could be better.Chase does impress me with offense, though.

:) When Allons played Celina they played a Zone Defence...Same thing with Algood except the second time when Allons played a Box-1 defence and put Kendall Melton on him...when Judah started to come back Dunn and Ramsey had already foulded out of the game...but i agree he good do better... thumb

  13. i say it would be either stewart mitchell or corey johnson from white county

    825573983

 Those two players are probably good....but I am going to say Chase Dunn from Allons.. thumb

  14. Allons beat Tracy City tonight by 30 points. There goes thier undefeated season. They may not have played much talent this year.Boy that Allons team is good all the way around. They don't have any weakness's.

    825553786

 Yeah Allons does have a very good team.....did Tracy City have to play in Springfield tonight too??...
