  3. I agree totally, he did a good job this year and is a good coach. True there were some teams with more talent in 8aa, but with that said a lot of times it boils to chemistry and that relates to personalities of coaches and players. This year wasn't the most talented Cannon team but had good chemistry.
  4. From what I have heard they have not had as many to apply unlike what has been posted on here. Dodgen is a good coach but he will not have the talent he has had the last few years at Cannon if he goes to White County. Whoever gets this job better make sure they can handle being criticized and scrutinized because it won't be a walk in the park!
  5. Although I think everyone does deserve a second chance, this is a little befuddling to me. Not only did he throw the game, he made a complete mockery of the game and sport in general. I don't know how good of a coach he is considering Riverdale had already won 3 State Championships before he got there, and he had a team left by John Wild that returned virtually the whole team from the 2012 CState Champion. But hey Lebanon has some great people that will make an excellent decision one way or the other.
  6. Ok folks here is your time to be the Executive Director. What issues should the TSSAA address for basketball? This is open ended, so it should bring variety.
  7. Well said, it is ironic this has happened, glad you noticed that too!
  8. That means it was tougher, they were all in with the public schools, has to beat them all to win it.
  9. What has evolved so much and what rules have changed exactly? It hasn't been that long ago.
  10. Imagine that, but they are the best in Tennessee that's why they are calling the state!
  11. Sorry if I was off a couple million, my bad. Yet they have more classes and a better overall tournament format and attendance for the state tournament.
  12. They could definitely do something about this too, it is simple. To be able to referee in the state, you pay them more, personally I would like to see it go up to $125-150 for a doubleheader with stipulations that you will be held accountable and evaluated by the schools and coaches after each game. This evaluation has nothing to do with whether they missed the call in the 3rd quarter or not, it should be professionalism, knowledge of the rules, and such. Remember these officials are employees of the schools they have the privilege to represent by officiating the games, they are not the show, no one pays to see them mess up a game or for that matter call a great game. They are there to see the players decide the game PERIOD! At the end of the year the officials that are ranked the highest get the honor of officiating the tournament, not the 'good ole boy system' that is in place now. I would venture to guess if this type system were set up in Tennessee, the quality of officials would improve dramatically. Other states use a similar system and it works. But the supervisors fight it hard. This is something that all sports need across Tennessee on the high school level.
