  1. Not sure the exact score but Sunbright was on top by 3 or 4. It was ugly and terribly called from what I hear. Shoemaker was ejected early in the 2nd quarter leaving Hamby taking over. They finished the game with 3 players fouling out no subs on the bench and 3 players left on the floor with 4 fouls. Branstetter went down with an ankle injury during the 4th but luckily was able to return or they would have had to finish the game with 4 players. Shoemakers suspension could be a factor tonight.
  2. As for the tigers being at the same level as Coalfield or Oneida I wasn't stating that they were I was simply saying that they are improving and gave both teams a game. Rumor is Coalfield was in foul trouble but so was Sunbright with less of a bench. As for Oneida they didn't play no were near their best but it also wasn't there worst. The Lady Tigers front pressure defense seemed to give the Oneida ballhandlers some trouble. The Lady Tigers are to face off with Oakdale on Friday night one of the lower seated teams in the district. How do you think that is going to play out? How do those of you who have seen both teams play think they will match up?
  3. The Lady Tigers are suddenly improving. They have given 2 of the top teams in the district quite a scare lately. First with Coalfield, then with Oneida after be down by as much as 20 cutting the lead to 3 with minutes to go. It is my understanding that this is quite a young team and they don't have a very deep bench this season with something like 7-8 players. What's your thoughts on this team?
  4. There has been alot of talk about Oneida, Coalfield, Oliver Springs but what about the other teams in that district? Sunbright, Wartburg, and Oakdale....How are they doing this season?
  5. Scott High and Oneida hasn't played each other for over 15 years or more....I really don't know why but I don't anticipate that to change either.
  6. What is the coaching situation at SHS for next year? Are they going to give Kries another year or not?
  7. Who does this match Oneida up against in the State???
  8. Look at the number of Student Athletes that are excelling on the courts or fields that are also the top of their respective classes. Please name some of your top student athletes that are scholars as well.
  9. I have to agree with you. It is good to see SHS winning some games. Making it to the region was a great job boys. We expect even better next year. GO HIGHLANDERS!!!!
  10. There are stages in basketball and the shot clock is one of the stages from H.S. to College. I don't necessarily agree with holding the ball, but if a team choses to do it the other team just has to step up the defense. Don't whine because the other team isn't taking shots.
  11. I know that Coalfield have won the last games but I do believe that the Lady Indians will take them down this time. I'll take the Lady Indians but 3.
  12. Is there any news on the girls bracket??? Who is playing in the championship?
  13. I'm not by any means saying that he hasn't done a great job. I think he has and in time I do believe that he could turn it around...I don't what anyone to get the idea that I am in favor of him leaving but I have heard by some reliable sources that it is a good possibility and there will be a middle school coach possibly moving up...For the program's sake I hope not...They will never be able to rebuild if they keep getting new coaches every year...But, I don't make those decisions...I hope Mr. Davis is smarter than that...If he wants the program to turn around he has to leave him for a few years at least... But, I wish SHS the best of luck in the tournament. That's a great bunch of girls and are capable of upsetting some teams if they set their minds to it. Let's go girls....No better time than tournament time to start really playing some ball. There are alot of people that believe in you...and I think you gained some respect or at least recognition last night against OS. Keep it up!!!
  14. Well stated No team is just made up of 2 players...its always the team every component. Everyone has a role to play.
  15. What are the expectations for the tourney for OHS?
  16. I was just replying to the above statement. I think she's probably pretty happy where she's at. What's everyone's take on what will happen if the rumors of Kries leaving are true??? Who will be next? But, as I said before, I don't agree with the fact of him leaving unless its of his own choosing. I feel that he should at least be given 2 years.
  17. I think the Highlanders have been playing some pretty good basketball. They have some very young talent and some senior leadership. They play some really good team ball. I am looking forward to the future with this team. What does everyone else think? What's there chances in the tourney this year??
  18. I do agree Nancy does a good job at the junior high level...but I will be shocked if she gets another shot at high school. (at least at SHS that is). Nothing against her, I just don't think the people (parents) will allow it. She is probably much better off where she's at...Scott County needs good coaches in their feeder programs to continue to assist in building the high school program. And there are some good junior high coaches in the county, but there are still a few that have no idea what's going on. I know of one school in particular that has a girls coach that has never played...This can't be helping SHS (or should I say won't next year). Back to the Lady Highlanders, last night against OS, they looked like a different team than they did the against Sunbright. They actually played, as I said before, against Sunbright, they went through the motions. See Lady Highlanders what you can do when you play with emotion, drive, desire and heart. Go SHS.
  19. I was told that the statement came for Kries himself that he was finished after this year. The person that told me this was a friend and former colleague of Kries. I really don't think that he would lie about it. As for him stabbing Nancy in the back, that is absurd. She was finished...how could that have even been brought up. I still say that he should be given more time. The Lady Highlanders are winning but they also are not playing with any drive, desire, or intensity. The look like they are just going through the motions. I have seem every one of these ladies play throughout their careers and they played harder in junior high and even junior pro than they are now. I don't want to sound like I am critizing them...because I have seen them I know what they are capable of. There is some very talent ladies at SHS they just are playing. Desire for the game is something that can't be done by the coach. No matter how much preparation he makes until the Lady Highlanders want it and desire it as the old saying goes "IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN" They have to dig within themselves and play with some emotion. So come on Lady Highlanders, play like you love it again. Have fun and enjoy the game. As I said before, I don't think this can be blamed on the coach.
  20. I still need to say that I don't think that it would really matter who the coach was this year or who the coach is next year...people would still be complaining. They still wouldn't be happy. If this website was around when Coach Sharpe and Coach Murley were together, they would have been bashed daily and they were winning. This is an area where the coaches have never been free just to coach out of fear of losing there job. No matter what they do, someone has something to say about it..or someone could do a better job. But, how long would it take until the power to coach a team was taken away by people disagreeing who once supported that individual and now wants him out of there. I am saying this as a person that was not in support of Coach Kries getting the job, but once he did I feel he deserves the chance to see what he can do with it. One year is not a chance. My reasons for not think that Coach Kries would be the #1 man for the job were not reasons on his ability as a coach but his ability to relate to players with his pychological approach to dealing with things. Not all players would have related well to his reverse pychology. But, I have to say that he has related much better than I thought. Once he got the job, he deserves the chance to see what he can do. Back to my original LET THE PLAYERS PLAY AND THE COACHES COACH.
  21. Rumor has it that Coach Kries has already been notified that he will not be back as a coach next year. I think this is pretty bad seening as how so many people were in support of him getting the job but because he didn't turn it around in one year they want to send him up the river. That's the problem with the program now...the parents won't let the coaches coach. As for playing the younger players, yes I agree there are some very talented young kids at SHS but the parents of the older players would have his head if he were to play them more. As I say again, let the coaches coach and the players play and the program would be alot better off. The parents need to go back to being spectators. Of course this isn't a new issue, this has been going on for years and years. Even back in the 90's when the Lady Highlanders were winning, people still has negative things to say about who was playing or who wasn't. LET THE COACHES COACH AND THE PLAYERS PLAY!!!!
  22. The Lady Indians don't seem to be playing as a team...looks like there is too much I in there..But there are still winning. Bond has been shooting the ball extremely well from the outside. They will be ok come tournament...they always are...
  23. coaches can't always be the blame...sorry to say that but they can't play the game for them...last year the it was branim's fault now its kries maybe coaching isn't the only problem..
  24. Sometimes teams get so use to losing that they don't expect to win...after falling behind they just literally play to lose. They don't play to win..I think this could be the case with a few of the lady highlander loses. Not all of course, but a few..but as I have said before rebuilding takes time.
  25. I said at the first of the year that we couldn't expect a compete turnaround in a program in one year...It takes time to rebuild. Just hiring a new coach doesn't make a team district championship material overnight. Sorry, I wish it worked that way. I do think that we will start seeing more wins for the lady highlanders over the next few years as they grow as a team and as individual players. There is definitely some talented ballplayers there...they just need to grow into their roles and into a new program with Kries and Murley. Both Coaches have coaches some exceptional athletes. Coach Murley assisted during the most successful 10 years of SHS history...He coached some of this county's greats. Kries has also been a very successful coach...just give them time. GO HIGHLANDERS...KEEP YOUR HEADS UP AND YOUR HIGHLANDER PRIDE HIGH...YOU'LL BE THERE
