  1. The phrase that you are looking for is MOOT, it is a moot point. Mute is on a TV, moot means irrelevant. "I would rather one think I am a fool than to open my mouth and prove them correct" I just couldn't let that go. Now all alliteration aside, let's talk football. I can not believe that I am about to say this (gulp), however I have been more impressed with Franklin's offense as of late than any other facet of the game. And you know why, they finally did what should have been done all season. Put the ball in #4 and #5's hands to win the game. How about that, two great offensive production nights, even though one was a loss. And yes they came out with the win, but the defense did look rather suspect against the power run game last week. Will the dry conditions provide the firm footing for the vaunted QB from Indy?? I guess only time will tell. I was at the first FHS @ IHS game since these are my two favorite Wilco football "programs" (and I use that term extremly loosly). It is rather commical to me that the Indy fan base calls out Franklin when they give up on their team for being down in a district game by two scores in the 3rd. I would expect more this week however. And I guarantee you that even if Eubanks did say that Indy should have won that game, they indeed should not have. And the more correct statement is that Indy crossed the 50 once in the 2nd half, I think I remember 3 times in the first half. The thing that I am looking for this week is indeed play calling. I hope that Franklin is able to utilize the pass to open things up a little, but keep it as you have the last two weeks, 5 or 6 passes a game. But I know that Craig "big air" Clayton will probably panic or try to impress and start slinging the rock. Two questions for the offensive staff though. #1 - have you taught the soph. when and when not to call a timeout. 3 TOs in 4 plays. Seriously?!?!? #2 - Do you know what field posistion, setting up a field goal, and clock management are? Just curious. Offensively for Indy, are they going to try to air it out a little, or utilize their most potent weapon of the experienced QB? Seems like Franklin had a tough time in the first game with the power and quick hit runs (although they kept them out of the endzone) and trouble last week against the power run game. Defensively, Franklin is typically well prepared for all, but especially district opponents. I would expect a good plan, but it will come to whether or not the 11 can hunker down and make the plays. Franklin's offense should try to keep them off the field as much as possible or this ground and pound Indy offense will wear them down. Indy defensively better figure out how to stop the run or they might get gashed once again (that is if Clayton gives Ford and Lee the chance) Without a doubt, this is going to be an amazing game. Finally dry conditions, so no excuses. The most fearful thing for the Rebels happened in week 10 of the regular season. When Brentwood beat them, I kept hearing through the line that "we will see them again in the quarters" well not if you overlook Indy big boys. Indy would love to be the one to unseat the Rebels, and with nothing to lose, they very well could. I just don't see Lee and Ford not producing at this point in their careers. FHS 21 - Indy 10 (my original prediction was 24-10, but then I remembered that FHS doesn't know how to kick a field goal)
  2. The lacking of talk on this game makes me wonder if both teams understand it's implecations. I would expect Indy to roll in this one, but I would be the last person to count Ravenwood out. They have a chip on their shoulder about this season, and literally now have nothing to lose. With a huge amount of fight they can win this game and set up their own destiny. They just need to have enough confidence that they can Indy 27 - Ravenwood 17
  3. Have no fear board enthusiasts, the ShotGunner is here. I apologize for my absence, as I know that so many of you have missed me, but duty called and I have been on the road too much lately. On to this week's match up.... This is what high school football is all about people. An old school rivalry, all the cards on the table, and the one game decides the district championship with big playoff implications. What else could you ask for in a game??? It sounds as if there is some skepticizim amongst the Rebel faithful and their offense. I love how the trifecta has pointed this out all season, however no one will admit that we have been professing the truth this whole time. Anyways, fbforme points out a very good point. Coffey does have lots more yards, but he also has over double the amount of carries. Seems like Brentwood realizes when they have something that works to utilize it. I still can't believe that Ford and Lee do not get the handoff more often, but maybe Clayton and his amazing offensive staff know something that we do not?? Are the vaunted pair pieces of delicate china? Can they not handle the amount of carries that Coffey can? Can they not produce for the whole game? I don't know, but if their running is typical from what I saw at Indy, seems like FHS should be 85% run - 15% pass. I think I heard stats that they were actually 50 - 50 in an earlier game this year. That is not balance folks, that is ignorance. Now you take the two pieces of china and line them up against a pissed off Brentwood Defense. Advantage Bruins Offensivly for Brentwood, their offense is primarily run and that will wear down this undersized Rebel D. You're probably right, they probably are keying on Coffey (and can you blame them), but which one will give out first. I wouldn't worry too much about the pass, this is no longer the Jack Daniels era of Brentwood. They will utilize it to help open the run game, but they will not rely on it or panic and resort to it (as the beloved Clayton does). But if they do, all they have to do is throw the ball up and let a reciever go up for it. I've said it before, just put someone out there that is over 6' tall and you're fine. They might not even have to jump to get over the corners. I would not expect tons of points from the Brentwood side, but rather just enough, and I bet that is their goal. It is hard for the Franklin defense to stop someone when they are on the field for 3/4 of the entire game. So a worn out D and a sputtering Franklin offense gives the advantage to Brentwood. Bruins - 21 - Rebels 10
  4. So foolish. Did you really just say "got lucky"?!?!?! That's called thd DEFENSE making up for your vaunted QB's interception and crappy play calling down in the red zone. Lucky, what a fool.
  5. You're focusing on the wrong thing here. Are you seriously criticizing my spelling? My comment was based on the fact that Longhorns posted that quote simply because he wanted to "prove" that the passing game is what won that game. I understand his audacity better than most. A balanced attack did open up the run game, but if you saw the drive that put up the Rebels 14-0, you would agree that the run not only got them down the field but demoralized the Indy defense.
  6. Hahaha, you think passing won that game. You're an ignoramous.
  7. Have no fear Coach T fans, the shotgunner is here. I know that you all missed my posts last week but I didn't really feel like wasting time on such a sub par match-up. A very valid point was made earlier in this post in that who have the Rebels truly faced this year? BGA is turning out to be a formidable opponent although they have a 4-4 record and Ooltewah is a rather good football team but outside of that?????? The 7 teams that Franklin has beaten this year have a combined record of 26 - 27, and 12 of that 26 came from the two KY teams, and we all know how that game went (to further back my point check out the Oakland - Christian County score after they play) Now with that being said, Indy's opponent W/L is even worse with 18 - 20. They did have some close games, beat MBA (minus QB) and handed Columbia its only loss. However, don't forget that it was all Columbia could do to show up for the games in years past when in this region. Now games are not won and lost off opponents records, we all know that and that is why the game is played. So being that I have now been at a game for both of these schools (several in years past, but one each this year) I am going to tip my hat to the Rebels in this contest. On one condition, run the freaking football. Word on the street is that Dye is out, Ford and Lee have been resting for the last two weeks but should be full force this week. Dear Franklin Coaches, run the ball. Give it to those two. Thanks, everyone that has any bit of common sense. The best chance that Indy has is if Webb can't prepare the defense for the pounding from the IHS offense (don't count on that one) but primarily if Clayton starts slinging the rock (you could almost bet on that one like it's a winning horse ) So good luck to both of these schools. Huge playoff implications for both teams. I just hope that I can get there in time since there is only that one fantastic entrance, I mean exit, I mean.... whatever. Gotta love Wilco school planning committies. Rebels 30 - Indy 10
  8. 1. he's not the only one carrying the ball - 2 and 5 until he went down. 2. an average is just that - an average - long runs against bad defenses skew the average 3. a pass doesn't have to be caught for it to be successful - it's successful if it pulls defenders out of the box... 4. your obvious question is not so obvious - they are 4-1 with a loss to a good ooltewah team - they seem pretty balanced to me 5. they are as balanced as Ravenwood - Ravenwood has thrown as many picks as touchdowns... fumbled as many as rushed for touchdowns and they get about 75 in the air and 75 on the ground a game Wow, so a name some times does say it all. Mindlesschatter, interesting. The point that our newest Wilco brethern is making is that the run for Franklin is obviously more productive than the pass, so why not utilize it. Let's talk about an average. Let's say that Alex Ford's (or any of the vaunted 3) do have a 10 yard per carry average. Now, what if you hand it to him 10 times? Theoretically, 100 yards. Now what happens if you take that same back and hand it to him 20 times? Again, theoretically 200 yards. Name one coach in the state that would not like to have a running back that has a 10 ypc average with 64 carries. Moving forward. Great win (I guess) for the Rebels last week. Hammering a sub par KY team doesn't really prove much, but the Rebels have done it for two weeks in a row now. I just wonder if the outcome would have been the same without all that rain??? Now on to this week's pillow fight. I love games at Ravenwood. Great football atmosphere and in years past great football games. This year I am not so sure. It seems that Ravenwood is the heavily favored underdog and because of that I wonder if the Rebels are looking ahead to their ever so interesting homecoming opponents from Memphis next week. Sounds like a good dialog for a trap. However, I am no fool and would say that Franklin will flop around in the first half and Ravenwood will think they have a chance but easily pull away in the 2nd half when they remember they are playing a game, no matter how meek the opponent. Waiting with baited breath to catch the rest of the Wilco imput. And where did our friend smkymtncenter, I mean longhornshookem go to? Pretty quiet these days with all of Franklin's running.
  9. To think that the Trifecta is comprised of children is in and of itself very childish, no pun intended. First I would like to adress a couple of past comments. First and foremost Mr. fbforme. Did you know that stores will also sell video cameras to people other than football teams? When I said that I had seen film on the game, why does that automatically mean that I got what the team watches? And even though I am somewhat critical of FHS's offensive decisions, I would hope that all of their coaches would be smarter than to be on here posting critical comments and critisizing from the inside out. Very foolish. And just because you know nothing of coaching the sport, does not mean that FHS's defense did not make adjustments against OHS, but that maybe Ooltewah's offense had a great night, made their own adjustments and took advantage of a tired group that had to play most of the game since the FHS offense was so unproductive??? I was not at the Hillsboro game, but it made me happy to hear that the Rebels were able to successfully run the football (Dye - 97 yards, Ford - 141 yards and Lee - 13), and very bad that Keelo sustained an injury. Hopefully he will not be down for too long. I did hear that the passing game clicked a little better, but was still sloppy at most times. Something that is very irritating to me about most of the FHS posters on here is that you are a bunch of nanby pamby sissies. Take some criticisim and use it to get better, quit your whining. Football is a tough sport on and off the field. This week I would expect Clayton to "show off" the passing offense that is none existant for FHS and to try to play to the KY style of football. Too bad they aren't learning their lesson and just running it down their throat. I don't know much about Fern Creek other than they are undefeated and are very athletic. Sounds like the proper game plan would be to keep the ball out of the opposisition's hands and run the ball and clock. Which means expect to see Franklin doing a lot of spread and shot gunning. Hopefully the defense will be able to step up and defend the pass properly against this athletically talented team and the offense can stay productive. Bring back a W Rebels
  10. Keep the momentum rolling Eagles!!!! Indy wins this one in dominating fashion Indy 42 - CHS 10
  11. Well I have been with holding my comments about last week's "game" and this week's "game". I use that term lightly since I have now seen the Franklin vs Ooltewah film from last week and know what the Rebels are up against tonight at Hillsboro. First, I'm not really sure what goes through Franklin's offensive coaches minds. I understand the theory that Mr. Longhorns keeps trying to make that you have to have a balanced offensive attack, and he is right that it has to be balanced, but why in the world would FHS abort the run against OHS and switch to 100% pass??? How many times are they going to let that young QB throw that quick pass outside?? I mean did he complete it once against OHS??? I will say that penalties were drive killers for the Rebels last week, but that comes from team discipline and a little bit of home cooking (from what my at the site source tells me). As for the defense, it seemed like they did make adjustments (fbforme accused them of making none) but that they just didn't slow down Ooltewah. Anyways, hopefully the Rebels have learned from their shortcomings, but as we all know, they probably haven't. So here we go into tonight's contest. If Mr. Longhorn holds true to his past statements and football beliefs, expect Franklin to be slinging the rock tonight. "you know it's important to work on their pass game against a weeker opponent" So dumb. Hopefully the Rebels can keep the ball on the ground, work on the run game tonight, and get some confidence brewing in the offensive line. I will be heading to see my boys Indy keep their roll going against CHS tonight, so I might have to miss this bore fest. But I have a feeling I won't be missing much. Despite all the offensive woes for the Rebels, they will still pull out the win and keep the onlookers fooled. FHS - 24 HHS 10 PS, smkymtncenter have we met before? You're posts sound aweful familiar
  12. Longhorns, your incompetence is unbearable. The only "emergency" that you had is when you had to clean your Texas Longhorn shorts after I announced that we knew who you were. And don't take the "research" as a complement. It was more of the slipups in your comments that got us to look into your identity a little deeper to make sure we were right. So, we know you were there. Please don't keep forcing the hand. Never the less, although most of our conversations have been offense based, I would like to address the most foolish comment made on these posts yet. VOID70, it is obvious that you know nothing of these Franklin Rebels. Outside of the "vaunted 3", the defense is this teams strong point. If I had to guess, Centennial had less than 100 yards in total offense last week in Franklin's shutout. Although I'm sure that Ooltewah's offense is a little more potent, I would never say that someone was going to win by 3 td's on this team. As stated before, just hope that the Ooltewah WRs aren't over 6'0". If Franklin sticks to the run game, like they did against CHS, and the defense shows up in the same way, Rebels win this one by a close margin. It will come down to how the Franklin offensive coaches play call against the owls, which is what makes me nervous. FHS 23 - OHS 17 Until then young friends, I am off on the road this week for work, so I doubt I will stay tuned for the conversations. Good luck to the Rebels and Owls, bring back a W for Wilco.
  13. Then why don't you just go ahead and tell us who you are!!! You get on here and degrade us fans and make fun of the coaches and players. Why do you do this? What is your point? Congrats to the rebels for a big win vs. Centennial. Putting gas in my car now for the LONG Trip!! And here I was respectfully bowing out, until you take a stab at me...... And aren't you the one that has done the most complaining and critisizing about the coaches and their schedule (or lack there of) making abilities. How does that foot taste by the way??? Please, show me where I once degraded fans or made fun or coaches or players. Show me. I have been debating offensive strategies, and yes, probably questioning play calling a little, but when have I once degraded franklin fans or players? I am a fan of Williamson County football, plan and simple, but more of a fan and intellect on the sport of football, hence the debates. My comments were posted due to past posts by Longhornshookem and his blantent call outs to an offensive line, JV quarterback, and justification of an offense that this team does not need to be running. I even wished both team and coaches luck on their game this week and extenuated travels. And BTW, if you fill up your car today, you won't make it to Chattanooga on Friday.
  14. Such foolishness in so many accounts. First off, hats off to the Rebels, they finally did what they should have been doing for 3 weeks now. Two tight ends, run the ball, and mix it up with some play action. They got a little silly when they started trying to force the pass again, but ended up sticking with the run. I hope you have learned the point that we (2/3s of the trifecta has been trying to make). Stick to what makes sense for your personnel. I would like to point out that Wilcoisthebest only predicted the POSSIBILITY that this would be the year, and that I stated that Franklin would indeed win, just not by the margin that they did. So mr Longhorns, you have once again shown ignorance, but this time outside the realm of football. Although I agree with many of the comments that Wilcofootball has made, I'm not sure I would have called #78 a beanie baby, but maybe he knows something I do not. The Rebels start a 4 week road skid this week, so have fun with that. Supporter or not, I will not be traveling to the likes of Chattanooga and Louisville. Good luck to the boys and coaches, hopefully they will keep things as they did against CHS and give it the old ground and pound. And finally a signoff to our dearest of friends Mr. Longhornshookem. I hope that you were at the game last week. Actually, we (trifecta) know that you were. You see through some recent research and subject baiting, we now know with confidence who you are. Anyways, I hope you saw how much sense the run made for Franklin this year and you will let it sink in. I will leave you with this however, I would be a little more generalized and less critical in your comments of the Franklin players. We, such as yourself, are just like car rear view mirrors, "closer than we appear." Good luck to you Rebels, bring back 4 W to Wilco
  15. Let me address a few small points and then I'm out, it's game day and I plan on getting to this game tonight, although Indy and Brentwood seems to be a bit more enticing. Longhorns, I wish my name refered to that type of "shotgun" because then I might be able to deal with this thread a little better. And touche, Texas Tech is probably 80 / 20 in favor in pass, and there is always an exception to the rule. I enjoy the spread offense and slinging it around (hence the motive behind my name) however, Franklin is not dealing with Grahm Harrel or Michael Crabtree. You have to play to your team's strengths, not force your style upon them. Simply, Franklin's strengths this year should be run with 3 great running backs and an inexperienced QB, and this is the point the Wilco trifecta is trying to get to you that you for some reason cannot grasp. None the less, game day and we digress. And my Wilco bretheran, wilcoisthebest, the word you as searching for is mechanics. The player has poor throwing mechanics. You're welcome I am anxious to see the game tonight, but as cougarblack has stated, it seems that most have chalked one up for the Rebels. Those could be some famous last words and I hope the Rebel players aren't thinking that way and looking to next week. See you all tonight, hopefully
