  1. Hello Halls Faithfuls....where you at once again?! Halls plays Central this week in their last game. The Battle of Black Oak Ridge is on us! This should be a good game. Lots of rival competition plus it is Senior Night which should be give some last game emotions. PLAYERS...You got this! Go out there and do what you do...play hard and bring in that win! Seniors...make this your night...leave your mark and make a statement as you play your last season game on your home turf. I say Halls wins! GO HALLS!
  2. Looks like assuming would be a key word here. Had you read the post you would have seen that I asked by assumption if it was #22. I never said I was there nor ever acted as if I knew what happened. I only assumed it was #22 and obviously my assumption was correct. This assumption was gathered by the mere fact of watching your #22 throughout many years at Halls. So, my assumption was by observation of the Halls game and by listening to others from several other teams and by reading posts. As far as the comment it was in reference of observation of the "hard tackle" in the Halls game...
  3. No surprise! I asked the question earlier in the post just assuming it was #22. He threw one or two of his infamous #22 temper tantrums in the Halls game as well. Do you consider being tackled as a form of retaliation? I'm just glad #22 took his attitude to AC with him as Halls has not missed it! Not trying to bash the kid, just know the temper he has always exhibited. We enjoyed the trip to AC from Halls...Firework show was great! Good way to get your boys pumped up before and during the games. Kudos to those who made that available to AC.
  4. I didn't see any punches thrown and no AC player was kicked out. There were, however, a few unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and personal fouls, two of which offset when a player from each team got a little animated after a particularly hard tackle. IMO the refs kept things well under control from that standpoint. Could one guess that one of the AC players thrown out was Blakely? Just curious.
  5. I say Halls is gonna come out with a win this week. Boys need keep their heads on and not lose focus that we still have two games to win. Still have a lot of faith in the boys that they will go out there and do their job like they have but let it show on the board as well as on the field. Stand outs? Defense, of course McFalls #79 and Long #56 are always my favorites to watch. Think Long #56 is still leading the pack (love to watch this boy play ball!). Looking for Gresham's good hands. Hear Fitzpatrick is out this game but hear the other Long #7 is suppose to be back. Look for Dowdy to keep it flowing at QB. Hope to see the whole team as a standout team and bring it all to the field. PLAYERS: Work hard this week and don't take it for granted. You have to go out there and keep playing hard like you have all season and make it YOUR win. I have confidence in you and look forward to the trip to CC. We need this win and if I hear correctly need Powell to lose against Central for Halls to have a shot at the playoffs. Win out boys! You can do it! Halls wins over Campbell County.
  6. If I remember correctly he threw a TD pass at Maryville when he was a sophomore. Karns & Hardin Valley may be weaker but the points on the board don't lie. I wished he would have been considered more last year he just seems more poised back in the shotgun. I think Josh Coffman has gained considerable experience for next year being under center this year. The running game just didn't do it for us last year and has gotten worse this year in my opinion. Stats generally don't lie. The passing game has clicked and carried us the past two games. Grant Painter looks to be a good prospect in the running department. I agree on Dowdy and Coffman. Not sure what is going on with our running game. #6 is out with no return. #3 needs to hit the outside or inside "hard" but has to lose the dancing, that is getting him every time. Not in total agreeance with #8 Painter, he has some speed but just not enough experience in football. Fitz and Burton are doing a good job. #7 Long has been injured but could have a return on CC game and could be a big help as long as he is healed. Two more games, looks like it is getting better in my opinion. I say Halls wins out...Go Halls!
  7. I'm going to disagree with you on a "D". This team has played extremely well this season minus the scores on the board. I'm going to go with a "B". There have been some mistakes, but there has been some crazy play calling this year that did not help the situation at all. Defense looks better than pretty good in my opinion as well. There are a lot of what if's and maybe's, but I am still going to say what if Dowdy #14 had been with us all season? The passing game has improved and looks good. I think it would be a different outcome but that is my opinion. Not saying he would have given us a win because it is a team effort, but think he could have helped. That is also not saying that Josh #11 hasn't done a great job because he has. From what I hear, Bright is doing better. Fitz is doing a good job getting some yardage as well as Burton. As far as next year, rumor has it that #6 wont be with us,but that is just a rumor no confirmation. I do hear that he will definitely not be back this year due to upcoming surgery. I hear #7 Long could be back for the Campbell County game. He is definitely a kid that has been missed. Hope he is well healed on his return. Still think he and his brother are a good combination and from what I have seen, #56 has led the team in defense and doing an outstanding job. McFalls #79 had a great game last week. Hope the coaches are recognizing these kids for their hard work and keeping them pumped up. This is all my opinion not that it matters. But, I say these boys will win out. Not sure how or if the playoffs will be in our future, but stranger things have happened. I am gonna continue to support these guys all the way through. Players....finish it! You can do it, play hard and play smart and finish out your last two games and make a statement! Go Halls!
  8. So who do think ur only loss should be? Assuming by your screen name...I'm assuming you are a Webb faithful. The loss I spoke of was Webb. My thoughts on that was after the game, that was not a thought I had before the game. Going into that game, I actually thought that would have been our first win. Guess we were not taught how to defend the Wing T as well as Webb. Not saying our boys didn't defend well, still think they did an awesome job as they have in every game. Looks as if Webb is still rolling on, congrats to Webb. BTW...how is the Blance kid? I know he was taken out by a hit in our game against Webb, but I haven't seen much on him since then. Is he back yet? Good luck to the rest of the Webb season...
  9. Ok Devils...I think I am the only Devil fan out here right now. I know you other Devil faithfuls are reading the Halls/Hardin Valley post. How bout a little boost to our guys on the field!!! Players...get out there and give another dose from last week. I have all the confidence in the world for you guys to win out the rest of the season. YOU CAN DO IT! Make up your mind and play to win some of that Devil football! LETS GO HALLS! Get that win!
  10. DEVIL FANS...Its Wednesday! Where's everybody at? Devils (the team that should be 6-1 instead of 1-6) are still up on their first win on Karns last week 39-0. I'm hopeful it will be wins from here on out. I say Devils take the homecoming game against Hardin Valley (1-5) this week hopefully with big scores. Go Halls!
  11. I have seen the fireworks there as well, which I thought were pretty impressive. Would love to have a little action like that in Halls. However, I must say that if this were illegal as your reliable source says, that it would have been brought up before now and would have been stopped before now. We are going into week 7 of games and I wouldn't think it would not have gone past the first game if it were actually illegal. They have a couple of dads (?) who work for the pyro company who has helped obtain this show and I would think that the schools, county, company etc. would have checked into this before going to the trouble of setting it all up if it were illegal to do so. Heck, they've even showed it on TV at some of the games. I thought it was a cool feature and think how pumped up those boys get coming out to it. You know, kinda like when OR gets the fog going, train whistle blowing, wildcat growling when your boys come down the hill...etc. Just one of those home field advantages each school gets to get their boys rolling. Made this Devil fan a little envious that we don't have something like that for our boys! If its that big of an issue, a person could always make a quick call to the county to find out.
  12. Halls got their 1st win and what a win it was! These guys released their frustration and put 39 on the board. Their game play was finally reflected on the score board! Zach Dowdy was back as starter and did a great job along with Josh Coffman. Garrett Gresham had a few misses but overall had a great game. Jake Long dominated as he always does. Sam Alley who we have not seen a lot of had a great game. The list goes on, and on...lots of kids were on and off that field and all clicked as the true team they are. This team has a brotherhood like no other. Congrats Devils, good job on bringing in that Red Devil show...! This is the type of scoring these boys have deserved all season long. Keep that wheel turning and finish it out! We know you can do it so bring it all out boys!
  13. Knoxbball3....I'm gonna disagree with you on this one. These boys have a lot of frustration to get out tonight, not only because they are wanting that first win, but also because their head coach has not been very supportive these days....so this may be their night. Halls has not reflected their game play on the scoreboard this season. If Karns hasn't seen a hard playing team so far, they better be ready tonight. I know these boys and they want a win in the worst way...especially the seniors which are our hardest playing guys. So, I'm gonna flip your score and say HALLS WINS Game 1 tonight. Go HALLS!
  14. I promise you will have no trouble finding a Red Devil Faithful! Halls is still fighting for their first win and for us Red Devil Faithfuls, hopefully it will be this week. Aside from Webb and AC (where numerous turnovers did not help) the games have been close. Halls guys have fought till the end and their game play is not a reflection of the score board. Win or lose, I promise you that Halls will be one of the hardest if not THE hardest fighting team Karns will play all season! Good luck to all...Especially those RED DEVILS and hoping for safe travels to and from the game!
  15. Correctly said ORidgeKat....This is the reason for some of the frustration at Halls this season. Its frustrating to see these guys play as hard of ball as they have played and still not come up with a win. They are a tough group with some outstanding athletes. We will continue to hope for the next game to bring home a win. Hoping the coaches keep these boys motivated because it just takes one person to get down to start bringing the rest of the team down. Enjoyed the trip to OR. Good luck to the rest of your season as well! Now, I have to take a step back as I am not a TW fan on here. But, I have to give TW(Halls OC) some kudo here as I hear he was firing the boys up before the game. It only takes a little motivation to get these boys fired up and we all seen what a great game they played, especially first half. Seen some different things the first half, then seemed like the second half it was back to the same ole thing. These boys deserve some wins! AC this week and hoping for a first win. Good luck guys!
  16. So let me get this straight... Halls is up 7-6 through most of the third quarter. Neither team is looking exceptionally good. Halls gets pinned down inside their own 10yd. line twice and has to punt. And that is the OC's fault? The defense is giving up 1st downs and time off the clock like halloween candy. And that's the OC's fault? Then, when it's crunch time, the OC dials up two critical TD's to give us a chance and we don't get an onsides kick. And that's the OC's fault? Now, I don't believe that this was best called game of all time, but your outcry tells me that you know absolutely nothing about football and easiest thing you can do is blame a coach. OR... You're a football genius with all the answers. If the later is true, then WHY ARE YOU NOT DOWN THERE HELPING OUT??? The other question I'd like to know is, if Halls is full of next level talent, then why aren't they making next level plays? Ironman80too... (whichever Ironman you may actually be if not all the same????) I am gonna go out on a limb here and make a comment....I am really interested in the fact that the biggest and main issues that you comment back in previous posts are when the OC/TW is commented on...Either you are TW himself or a family member...or you are his biggest fan of all times. No, I am not a football genius at all, but it looks to me and MANY OTHERS that TW is nowhere near that himself. You gotta have more than a hand full of plays (that maybe everybody and their grandmother don't know) to get the opportunity to make those "next level plays". That don't take a genius to figure out either! I mean, how many plays the other night...5-6....turn around and see the people in the stands talking about what the next play is gonna be...ITS OBVIOUS!!!!! As far as going to a coach, which is another comment you have continued to make on your previous posts... (i.e. the reason I am wondering if you are really as above....) what coach would EVER listen to anyone other than those that are on staff? Your blaming defense? They don't put the numbers on the board for Halls. Let me say this...if you are TW or another coach...because I know the coaches read this. Try something out for the people behind the fence watching the games and watching Ted William stumble on what should be called because he freezes when it comes to crunch time! MOST IMPORTANTLY...try it out for the boys on the field who are actually doing the work. Have Ted Williams, step off a game or two and if KJ don't want to do it, let Coach Hassle run the offense and make the calls. The man knows football, give him a shot. Lets see if that makes a difference at all. If there is no difference, then maybe all the TW bashing is uncalled for...but I'm thinking not. Also....You may be an army of one when it comes to filling a fan club for TW.
  17. I like the way you wake up in the mornings devilsden! Lets take us home a big ole Powell panther head, mount it on a big red devil pitchfork and hang it in the new field house! Good Luck Halls! Go snag you a kitty cat!
  18. Divercity... Unless something has changed in the last couple of days, Kahn will not be playing this week, but is suppose to be back next. We sure needed him last week.
  19. Is there some "hidden meaning" in this post? Tspoon...this is in reference to a post "I" made commenting on a post "from another thread"...from a SC parent who was disappointed about a couple of things with the JV/Fresh game at Halls. I posted a comment back referring to the disappointment about Fridays game in regards to the "parents" in the stands from SC (which was the MAIN point) while a player was down who took a hit knocking his helmet off getting his eye cut while the parents yelled and screamed in the stands over the call. As alot of posts do, it went from one direction to another. Conversation continued between fsutandem and I who were able to straighten the meanings out on both sides and then it was over....until lil jna wanted to chime in to get something going on this thread...which looks like something that he/she does by looking at his other posts and by his commenting to this thread trying to refer to another thread...where its not of any significance. So, no big deal...fsutandem and I figured it all out and moved on... Tspoon...now back to the main reason you started this thread (Halls/Powell) I think this will be a good game. Halls size is not there this year but they play tough. A couple of missed field goals last game and two delay of games due to the play not getting called in by the OC, and Halls should have won Friday night. If your attending, better come early because I'm sure the stands will be full with both sides of the north end of town! I heard the rumor was that this young man had decided to go to Oliver Springs. Sneakpete and Reeder10....what age group is this young man in? As far as I know, all of our QB are present and accounted for. The only one we have out is our starting QB who as we all know is out due to his car accident. We have a fr/so/jr so unless it is a kid who is still playing at the community park, I can't help you out here. If I hear anything, will get back to you.
  20. Ya know.... I guess there is not a written rule that a player is suppose to take a knee, stand with or without helmets, or give a few high fives and turn a few flips because a player gets "layed out". Maybe it was the way some of us who have played (and I stress played) football learned to do when they first started playing many, many years ago, something I used when I've coached in football and other sports, and that I still see being used starting at little league all the way up in my area. That was one of those things that was just a given when it happened...kinda like putting my hand over my heart with they play the National Anthem, or taking my hat off at the table...All I can say is some form of respect, wait... I don't think I'm suppose to use that line, some sort of acknowlegement should be given. Find another sport to play or watch???....Really?! I'm gonna end my discussion on this subject and do as DEVILSDEN suggests and move on to the next game on Powell. SC-Halls was last week, SC won, Halls lost, over and done with. Devilsden...well put you are correct and this subject is now done in my books. Zcar...that is some pretty good digging. good info!
  21. I think we have reached a mutual ground fsutandem! Scott Carter has always been a great guy, good parents as well. As I said before, SC has always played Halls tough and I know they will continue to do so. That just makes for good competition. As I think you can now see what I was trying to say that my comment was in direction to the player on the field. I wasn't trying to jump the person posting. I was just commenting back to what she commented as a bad experience towards Halls in relation to the experience observed Friday night. With that being said, its over and done and you are correct that both prgorams are good programs and are well respected. Look forward to continue watching both teams as many years as possible. Halls has a lot of things to work out no doubt. There have been many changes and still many that NEED to be made. A lot of people have issues with our OC which gave a good example of not being able to get the plays called in causing two delay of games. Halls very well could have and (just my opinion as a Halls fan) should have won that ballgame Friday night. Not trying to make excuses but three things at least were against Halls....the OC, minus our starting senior QB, minus our senior kicker (who could have put those extra points on the board no doubt). Sad to say but sometimes it is just not the players on the field that lose the games...Now, all three players you mentioned are good tough players and can produce good yardage. Fitz has the force, Gresham has good hands, and O'Laughlin can get the cuts in. There are a couple of other players that have not really been utilized that some may be surprised at what they can do. We have Powell to look to this week and it will be a tough game as well. This is a BIG rivalry and it should be a good game. Hopes for fresh legs, mixing up the plays, completed passes, score on the board and no injuries. Good luck to you and the rest of your season. May your team remain injury free. We will see how the rest of the season goes...
  22. Haven't heard of any players out as of yet, but several kids have been out at school in general.
  23. Halls versus Powell....always a good rivalry game. The house will be packed! I think this one will be a close game as well. ZCAR and HTV...true!
  24. OK..SC still won...was that really your whole point. No excuses were being made on the game as far as my comment stated. As far as the two programs, I agree with them always having been a good program. SC has always played Halls tough. As far as the officiating went, it seemed pretty crappy called on both sides no more Halls than SC that was pretty even. As far as the shot went on #10, I never said it was not a clean shot as you seem to be incinuating, my issue was with the disrespect that was shown to #10 rolling on the ground. As far as #10 running his mouth, maybe so but I find that one hard to believe as he is probably one of the quietest, nicest kids I've ever met. Not saying he didn't, just find it hard to believe. You bring up #3, I could also point out a play where the whistle was blown and one of your players came full speed at #3 only to slam his own player because #3 seen him coming in for a cheap shot and got out of the way. As far as being accused of pointing fingers...just stating an opinion of my own by observation. It has definitely been the talk of the town. However, you may want to read back over your own posting and see who was attacking or pointing fingers yourself. Football is football, its rough and your right emotions fly. I merely stated what was going on in the stands with the parents even after they were told that a player was down on the field.. Cheap shots happen, clean shots happen, sometimes they get confused and thats where the emotions come into play However, regardless of those plays, if a kid is down, give them the respect they deserve because they are the ones on the field getting knocked around and they are the ones who go home with the aches, pains, cuts and bruises. Guess we can agree to disagree on who did what. As far as your link goes...Thank You Very Much but We have the Halls Shopper here that we support. DiverCity...I agree!
  25. Wow...hate you had such a bad experience not being able to keep up with the score....just to give you a heads up so that you will get use to it...Freshman and JV games anywhere you may be will not always have the clock going...just part of it so get use to it. THey are not varsity and don't expect the same outcome. I might also refer to your comment as "Wow is all I can say"...let me use this comment of yours in regards to your Sevier County to the total lack of sportsmanship that was shown by parents/players/fans Friday night. I would be embarrassed as a SC resident to even have the gumption to post anything on here after the example the parents in the stands led Friday night. If you were one of those parents in the stands, you should be ashamed, if you werent then you should still be ashamed by having association with the program. Halls had a kid down and all your parents/fans could do was stand up and scream at the officials because of what they felt was a bad call having no respect to the injured player on the field. SC players did not take a knee. Rule of thumb...if a player is down, you as a player take a knee and show respect! As a coach, you show respect and put your players on their knees (something SC coaches should have taught in little league!) As a parent or fan in the stands, you hope and pray that the injured player comes off the field without big injuries. At NO time do you stand up yelling at the officials because you felt they made a bad call while a kid is down! You show respect. As someone who lives in Halls, you will never see a time where Halls players do not take a knee and show respect for an injured player on either team. You will never see a Halls person in the stands acting like complete idiots while a kid is down on the field because of a play. Your kids will react by examples...I can see why #7 on SC ran his mouth the whole time on the field, they obviously learned by example. So, as a Halls fan for MANY, MANY, MANY years, once again I am proud of the Halls players who played their guts out Friday night and to the fans and parents as they know how to act and show respect in a good sportsman like manner win or lose....You as a parent of the Sevier County program...I wouldn't be bragging!
