  1. I’m really not sure what to make of this game. Gallatin has had their number the last two years when I thought Hillsboro should win going away both times. Logic would say that with better coaching Gallatin should be favored this time around. However, I’m concerned about the ability of these young men to refocus after an emotional game against Station Camp. The key to victory the last two years has been playing good assignment, team ball. Let’s hope the coaches get them right for Friday night.
  2. Again, I wouldn’t put too much stock into a team not being in the top 10. West very well may be a top 10 team. Let’s let a few games sort things out. In regards to Henry Co., they’ve played two elite teams and may still go 8-2. Record is not always indicative of the strength of the team this early in the year.
  3. Don’t disagree with that assessment at all, but blowouts against Hillcrest and Bolivar aren’t exactly a strong litmus test. Polls are always an inexact science the first few weeks anyways.
  4. I think Crockett is higher as well. I was just going off of their current body of work.
  5. I figured since the AP poll was a joke I would take a stab at it myself. 1. Knoxville Central- #1 until they’re beat 2. Beech- another deep playoff run 3. Powell- most impressive wins so far 4. South Doyle- two blowout wins 5. Rhea County- two comfortable wins 6. Hillsboro- uber talented 7. Shelbyville- offense good. Defense ??? 8. Page- two solid wins 9. David Crockett- small body of work 10. Henry County- tough two opening opponents Just missed (in alphabetical order): Campbell County Fulton Gallatin Kirby Knoxville West Ridgeway Summit Let the debating began!
  6. Gallatin looked decent against a very fast Shelbyville team this afternoon. Was really impressed with the improvement on the offensive line. Receivers also seem to be coming along nicely. Players that stuck out to me: Jordan Harper (RB), Cory Coggins (WR), and Tristan Rogers (WR/DB). Minus a few starters/big role players, but that can only help depth wise. Both offenses seemed to be clicking pretty well. Gallatin's D is a little further behind. Lots of missed assignments that can be fixed. The effort and basics (tackling) were there. Short turn around with the jamboree this Friday against Summit.
  7. The proposed districts I wrote down for the Mid Tenn area are: Henry Co., Clarksville, Dickson Co., Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, Rossview, Station Camp, and Wilson Central Columbia, David Lipscomb, Glencliff, Hillsboro, Hillwood, Lawrence Co., Shelbyville, Summitt, and Tullahoma Blackman, Cookeville, LaVergne, Lebanon, Oakland, Riverdale, Siegel, Smyrna, and Stewart's Creek Gallatin, Beech, Kenwood, Macon Co., Maplewood, Clarksville NW, West Creek, and Whites Creek Williamson Co. and Metro Schools in another district, but teams were not specified. All these are simply suggestions though. The picture will be alot clearer once the fall enrollment numbers come out.
  8. Dark horse, young talent, whatever you wanna throw out there; I don't see any scenario where Station Camp finishes ahead of Gallatin. They usually make a good showing the first couple of weeks of the season and stay the same or decline throughout the year. They had every opportunity to beat Gallatin, Beech, and Hendersonville last year, but didn't have the coaching to do it. Otherwise, I'd say that's a pretty good start to a preseason ranking.
  9. I'd say that is a pretty objective look at it mondo. I think Beech will be better than most think. Definitely not a .500 team as mentioned previously in this thread. Hurd and Banks are way too much talent by themselves for that to happen. Plus, they had a decent soph qb that got considerable playing time last year, so they won't be completely starting from scratch at that position. I expect MJ to be just as good as always. There are always a plethora of athletes to choose from and Perry is a great coach. I think Station Camp will improve slightly and have a good, athletic core of talent returning, but they are one of those that won't get the nod from me until the coaching staff, and more importantly, the team itself goes out there and proves me wrong. As for Gallatin, there are plenty of question marks, but I think there is considerable talent coming back. More than most think. Rice and Banks are the ones that come to everyone's mind, but Robb (FB/LB) should be a standout along with some DB's/WR's that got alot of playing time last year. I truly believe Carnes could blossom into something special and I believe he is ultimately the key to our success next year.
  10. Well, I would say the same for myself and I have heard that a decision has not been made yet.

  11. Yes, they have. Ole bolddust, who everybody knows as golddust from last year just likes to stir the hornet's nest. It's like that little kid sitting in front of you at the game that's had too much sugar. Just ignore his preposterous posts. Oh and its almost time!! Go Green Wave!!!!!
  12. Yes, it does. The higher seed will always be the host team of course. If the two teams are the same seed, then the team in the upper quad gets home field in odd numbered years and the team in the lower gets home field in even numbered years. This year our quad and quad 1 would have home field if the two teams were the same seed.
  13. TSSAA kept Southern Mid TN together. Tullahoma, Shelbyville, Columbia. So Centennial is closer to them. That is their reasoning.
  14. Alright, enough bickering. Other than the last two min the officiating was bad for both teams. The fact is Gallatin made more big plays than Beech. I can't believe Beech didn't use the passing game more and I haven't seen Gallatin drop more easy first downs all season. Overall, a tough district game as I expected. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.
  15. Yes, this is true. It will happen with Coffee Co. for sure and possibly others. The reason for the change is to prevent district champs and runner ups from playing in the first round.
