It should be an interesting season. Some teams have lost some very good pitchers, and I do not know who might have a Freshman that could come up and make a difference on the mound. One team not mentioned that I think could be very good in Meigs County. I do not believe they lost any starters, and they have a pitcher that moved into Decatur from Sweetwater. See you guys in a few months.

Ooltewah 3 Rhea 1 This was a tough one. The game was suspended yesterday in the bottom of the second with Ooltewah leading 1-0. Jessica Kerley opened up the 5th with a single. After Selby Kincannon moved her to second with a bunt, Morgan Hidalgo hit a RBI double to tie the score at 1-1. In the top of the sixth Ooltewah scored two runs on a leadoff double, a Rhea error on the bunt that allowed the run to score from second, then a wild pitch. Rhea got two hits in the bottom of the sixth after two outs, but could not get a run home. Rhea out hit the Lady Owls 6-3, but Ooltewah made the most of their chances. Side note Rhea played today without one of their starting outfielders, and Sara Freels had to leave the game in the forth when she was cleated on a play at second. Her whole shock was soaked in blood by the time she got off the field. The girls were hoping to win one for her, but came up a little short. One more week, then comes district tournament. Hope the girls keep playing well.

Rhea 1 Walker Valley 0 Big win for Rhea County. The Lady Eagles scored a run in the 3rd without a hit. Nikki Shelby was hit by a pitch to start the inning. She then stole second base, after a Walker Valley error, and a strikeout, Whitney Thompson laid down a perfect bunt which allowed Shelby to score from third. Hanna Manley threw a five hitter, and had had 9 strikeouts. Rhea loaded the bases in the second with one out but Sidney Hooper got two strikeouts to end the threat. Walker Valley had a runner thrown out at the plate in the 5th. They also left runners at second in the 1st, 3rd, & 4th. Thompson had two hits to lead Rhea’s four hit attack. We get McMinn tomorrow, hope the Lady’s are up for it!!
