According to the Jackson Sun, he did. Congrats to Coach Hicks. He will will work hard and push those players. As a first year head coach, he'll have a learning curve but I think he'll do a good job.

Most local papers will send something out to the area coaches asking for nominations. Maybe UC's coach didnt recieve one or did and didnt nominate anyone. It happens. I agree that they should have a representative!

One thing is for sure... "Sweet thang" can flat out coach!

I think he is over Human Resources and Transportation for the district in Milan. I'm pretty sure that doesn't pay peanuts. (Its worth 10k a year not to have to deal with these crazy kids and parents on a daily basis. Lol) I don't know the dollar amount. 20k was just a guess but I am sure he is very well compensated. No doubt he would do very well at Humboldt coaching wise! I am just saying the rest of it doesn't make much sense. I'm sure they will get a good coach and many will have interest in the position. I just don't believe it will be Coach Williams.

Humboldt cant pay Dexter enough to make that move. No chance that happens. You're talking about a $20,000 pay cut if not more... No way.

I would say the school average ACT score being a 15 has a lot more to do with it than coaching changes. Kids don't get recruited, for basketball, through the high school coach without having seen the kid on the AAU circuit first. 99% of the players in Jackson play for some rooty poo aau team that's just in it to take the kids' money. They don't go to any major tournaments to be seen and the coaches are just dudes off the street with no connections or ability to teach the game.

Coaching whirlwind? Wasn't Lonnie Starks at JCM for like 10-12 years? His replacement was there for 2 years but left when the principle left. I don't think that's the problem. Lack of parental support, lack of community/fan support, gang pressure, etc are what's destroying these kids opportunities.

Exactly! The event is free for the kids to play and the coaches are volunteering their time! ( On a SATURDAY) Not to mention the Tim guy you referred to probably spent a couple hundred dollars out of his own pocket and who knows how many hours to help make this event happen. Get a clue, buddy! BCAT is going above and beyond, in my opinion.

Wasn't Asa Duvall at Brentwood Academy last year and playing for Brentwood this year? Didn't the Blackwell kid get ruled ineligible last year for switching from MBA to CPA? Not saying they cheated, just making the point that these things happen at all schools in all areas of the state, especially successful programs. Kids move around, transfer, use fake addresses, rent apartments, etc. all in an attempt to have a shot at a ring. Things get missed! These people are teachers, coaches and administrators not private detectives.

I wasn't able to attend the game but based on the score, it appears that Southside played up to their potential last night. Congrats to Coach Fuller and the Hawks! Now if the same team shows up on Monday, the Hawks will be Boro bound.
