  1. Final SC 51-20.....SC may not win next week but a good season for the Smoky Bears
  2. Sevier County 31-0 at half...Lenoir city got to midfield 1 possession...obviously time will tell but nice bounce back game so far from the Smoky Bears
  3. Sevier County beats Karns 70-59. Big statement for a very young Bears team
  4. They lost to New Center Elementary. New Center is a feeder for Sevier County High School. 2 of the players have started for Sevier County this year. New Center lost in the semi-finals of the sectional this year but their 3 year run was 79-6 and will send 8 players to Sevier County over that period.
  5. I have followed on Coach T for years and even though I rarely post....as a lifelong Sevier Co. resident and fan I would throw my two cents in about a few things. One of the bigger things I think people may not realize is in the last 23 years 2 high schools (Pigeon Forge and Northivew ) have opened and affected the football program. SC had a nice run with 2 semifinal appearances ('97 and '99) with the State Championship in '99. There was a lull after Pigeon Forge opened and eventually SC had another run from mid 2000's till championship appearance in 2015. Northview opened right at the end of that run and those missing numbers have hurt SC. While Sevier Co. may have grown....we aren't Rutherford County where a high school opens and has 1700-2k students a few years after it opens. Gatlinburg-Pittman and Seymour enrollments may have been affected but not like SC. For instance, my children were 3 graduating classes apart at SC and one had 535 in their class and the next one had 230. Moreover, SC was blessed with some great athletes in those two runs. ( Jason Layman, James and Jeremy Bates, Allen Mogridge, Joey Mathews, Shane Kelley, Logan McCarter, Duece Wallace, etc). They also almost always had a qb who could throw really well and thrive in Coach Brewer's offense. I too would like a better schedule but can't control that. Finally, and If I'm wrong about this...I would like to know....I would imagine most 4A-5A schools have at least 2 feeder programs. SC has one. The other school that feeds SC doesn't have a program...those kids play for SC feeder. So I believe there are a bunch of things at work. I enjoy being on Coach T and again just my 2 cents about SC.
  6. Looks like the no chance turned into a Win. Much different team than years past but they are playing hard and good things are happening.
  7. Huge Win for Sevier Co. over DB.. Sevier Co. is very fortunate to have Coach Ken Wright. He has been successful everywhere He has been. In the Last 10 years at SCHS... Coach Wright has had 8 20 win seasons with 5 District Tournament Championships....been to the region 10 years in a row. 1 region runner up and 1 region championship...2 substate appearances with ONE player who went on to play college basketball...
  8. Huge win for the Smoky Bears....but most all Bears fans know the limitations this team has. And outside of a couple of people....you won't find much talk on these message boards from Bears fans. Just a nice win to enjoy...
  9. The word is out on Knoxnews.com / Prepxtra.....SC has promoted Coach Tony Lingenfelter.....Congrats Coach Lingo....Go Bears...
  10. Tennessee high school football will lose one of its legends tomorrow as Coach Steve Brewer will resign his position. Coach Brewer has done so much for our community over the 22 years as our head coach. There aren't enough words to express the meaning that he and his family have meant to SCHS. As many football fans know, Steve was a standout qb at Fulton, and Austin Peay. Head Coach at his alma mater and 22 great years at SCHS. The pride that we all carried knowing Steve led our program was incredible. The stability, class, integrity and everything else the he possessed was instrumental to our program. Smoky Bear football will forever be indebted to him. The football stadium at SCHS is named after the benefactor who donated the land for SCHS. However, the football field is unnamed. My hope is that one day it will bear Coach Steve Brewer's name. It would only be fitting. I know true football fans will wish Coach Brewer good luck and best wishes as he moves on.... http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2014/may/18/sevier-county-football-coach-steve-brewer-to/
  11. Best guess/speculation after last night's games.... 1) Maryville 8) Hardin Valley 4) Mo. East 5) DB/Science Hill loser 2) Sevier Co. 7) Farragut 3) DB/Science Hill winner 6) Powell Again, just a guess based on district winners then district runner-up and then wildcard....looking at Farragut and Powell remaining games...if they both finish 6-4... Farragut may get the 6 and Powell the 7...
  12. Many if not all true lifefong Sevier County fans that remember what SC went through in the 20 or more years before Coach Biddix (1986-1991) and Coach Brewer arrived know how fortunate we are and have been. Everyone knows and should appreciate the super success of teams like Maryville, Alcoa, Fulton. If I'm not mistaken SC has had only 4 losing seasons since 1988. Compare that with I believe 4 winning seasons in the 20 years prior. We have been blessed for Coach Brewer to stabilze and bring the program to where it is now. High school football is a special sport and it is great to be able to support all of our teams. Good luck to all the teams this year....
  13. Sweet Science....I was wondering the same thing... If Hardin Valley doesnt make it in and they pull McMinn Co. to quad 1(they have been listed in Quad 1 the last two weeks on TSSAA website) then there is the potential to have 5 district champions (DB/Science Hill, Sevier Co., Oak Ridge, Maryville, McMinn Co. ) with only 4 home games.....If I missed something I apologize...this playoff setting is worse than the IRS tax code....
