You would think at some point during this run that the kids would lose interest. That they would simply expect to win and start losing. That coaches wouldn't gameplan as hard because they're just better so what's the point. That parents would stop supporting because little Johnny isn't getting to play. That other schools would start trying to poach players or start recruiting at a level to beat them. But they just keep winning. They've won a state championship in all but what, 7 of the last 23 years? Just insane to think about. Decatur needs an aluminum plant.
Yeah 5:30-9:30 was just an estimation. Wasn’t saying that officials didn’t do anything, just that the harsh treatment from coaches and fans was probably more of a deterrent than pay.
So yeah, glad you got that out of your system.
Job isn't currently posted on TSSAA bulletin board or the Sweetwater website. I'm assuming as a courtesy to the coach who is filling in the interim. Wonder if it will be posted or if they will hire from within?
I don't think payment is the issue, they're paid pretty well for 4 hours work. I think how they're treated makes a lot of them get out or never get in.
Every school that uses the officials from our area was scheduled one Thursday night game this year to ease the demand for officials on Fridays. Meigs plays Tyner next Thursday. It's odd but apparently necessary.
