Talked to a man today that told me he had saw preliminary drawings of a new athletic indoor field house to be built on the present practice field at the high school for football and other sports use. Curious if anyone else has heard about this because I sure hadn't until this morning.

Been in the planning stages for awhile, but I'll believe it when I see it...

That's what I would like to know. Surley this couldn't be a coincidence. When I saw that yellow paint on the field the other day the very first thing that hit my mind was a dog pissing all over that green carpet marking it's territory showing it's boss who the real boss was up there and I guess it did because nothing happened.

If they lost the golf coach, then you can kiss that phenom middle schooler from California goodbye.

Tje guy is a fraud. Period.

I like him, played against him when I was at Maryville, and I'm sure other folks like him too.

That said, I'm sure there are people who may call you the same thing but they're not on message boards saying it.

Catholic not going out and hiring a head coach with a pulse after their co head coach left for an upstart program speaks volumes about their commitment to competing in D2-AAA.

Doesn't really matter who the hire as coordinators at this point.

Last I checked, the current head coach has 2 state titles to his credit, right?

Great job representing Tennessee wrestling.  Ten champs and a 2nd by Wyoming Seminary is unprecedented dominance at this event. A 120 point advantage over second place Blair.

yes.....got routed by Baylor by bout 40 or 50 pts in first contest....but made a game out the 2d contest in the semis

    Booger just sayin ;)

I know the 1st game wasn't pretty, but they improved over the year and played well when it mattered most.

Good hire by Coach Shad or not? not a lot on this guy besides he came from heritage high school. went from slums of blount co to slums of d2aaa. my guess is shad still runs the defense like last year

Didn't Catholic make the semis last year and play both McCallie & Baylor pretty tough?

From what I have been told, there is a meeting tonight to finalize the seeds and any additional additions. Dylan is sitting as 1st alternate so hopefully he will get in.

Congrats to McCallie for the team championship and to all National Prep qualifiers (state finalists) and wildcard hopefuls! For those interested, below are the National Prep rankings for each weight class heading into this weekend.  There will certainly be some shake-ups as state tournament/qualifier results come in from this weekend:

    Rankings | 88th Annual National (nationalprepwrestling.org)

There are currently 5 nationally ranked "Fab 50" teams in the field: #1 Wyoming Seminary (PA), #2 Blair Academy (NJ), #6 Malvern Prep (PA), #13 Lake Highland Prep (FL), and #31 Green Farm Academy (CT).  This will be a great opportunity for Tennessee athletes to make a statement about the continued growth of the sport in our state!

The state will also be sending their 1st female from a Tennessee HS (2nd overall behind Avery Kibelbek who went to Wyoming Seminary) to compete at National Preps.

Aliya Whaley (current Junior, 2x TSSAA medalist, 2023 TSSAA runner up) will be competing out of Knoxville Catholic at 152 pounds as the #2 or #3 seed.

I’m not saying I know what their lineup will be. But when they get to MS and see 5-6 kids around the same weight they may start to look else where so they can hit the HS line up earlier. There are like 20 MS weight classes only 14 weights in HS. Some kids will be left out.

22 weight classes in TNAAU to be exact which IMO is WAY too much. That was one of the reasons I liked coaching the MS conference events that had around 12-14 weight classes more so than the Top 100/Region/State events back in the day.

These are not $s paid to these kids--it is a projected annual valuation from ON3.  I promise you, the kids are not seeing this type of money in high school.  I know a few of them - and they are not getting the ON3 valuation dollars while they are in high school.

The ON3 Valuation is a projection of annual value based on the kid's

    + Performance
    + Influence
    + Exposure
    + Deal Data

Deal Data is only one of four-- and it is the least important.

In colleges, about 85% (average estimate) of the NIL money actually paid is coming from collectives--not actual endorsements.  When collectives come to high schools, that is when you should begin to get concerned.

There are schools in the Knoxville area that already have established collectives.

That is what happened to this match Bradley Bears and Cleveland Raiders do not like each other very much. I guarantee it. Bradley Bears and Cleveland Raiders are arch enemies and do not want each other to do any good. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Are you sure you're not Captain Obvious's little brother?
