  1. R1 sectional should be really good.. North Greene returns 7 starters back from a sub state team and UH returns a lot from a state tournament team.. looks like Greenback and Coalfield will be good again so should be lots of fun.
  2. Well.. you do have a good point there and also players there that are suppose to be at other schools lol.
  3. I’m not arguing that point. I was just trying to point out that he has really turned the NG program around since he got there. Other than a couple of years, they were awful for about 25 years before he became coach. He works harder than most high school coaches do and I respect that.
  4. Sam Tarlton (North Greene) John Dyer (West Ridge)
  5. Are you serious? Tarlton has won 166 games at NG and is only halfway through his 7th season right now. 3 state tournament trips and I wouldn’t count them out making a 4th trip this season. Also, keep in mind he has done this at NG, a school that hadn’t been relevant in boys basketball for about the past 25 years before he got there.
  6. They are getting better. They will be a tough out come tournament time. They have several younger players that are getting better every game.
  7. You’re right they’ve not been great defensively so far but they have had a tough schedule early on.. Offensively they are fun to watch and I think they are going to figure some things out defensively and they will be there in the end. UH looks really good right now and looks like the favorite in the league and they have a good region opponent in Cosby coming to The Den Friday night that should be a good game. They have some young players that are starting to step up and play better. It’s not how you start the season, it’s how you finish.
  8. I’ve always been a Tarlton fan but I’ll admit it’s probably not a good idea to blame the team for every loss and take the credit when they win. Eventually you’re going to lose the team.
  9. Well that’s interesting because I’m not a big fan of any of those parents you’re talking about!! Maybe if they took the time to actually get to know him. People out there don’t care about winning, they just care about how many minutes their kids play a game. It’s really embarrassing they have no basketball knowledge at all.
  10. If a coach doesn’t coach with some edge, I don’t want to play for them!!
  11. That’s a false statement. Challenging players isn’t treating them like dog crap as you say. Find somebody else then and go back to winning 8-10 games a year and being irrelevant.
  12. Hard to say. NG doesn’t deserve either one of them
  13. Thank you. I agree it would be awesome for district 1 to have 2 of the finalists. I know we’re rivals lol but we have a ton of respect for Cadon and the entire Hampton program. We know every year to have a chance to get to state you have to get past Hampton. Cadon is a great student athlete that I enjoy watching play. Best of luck the rest of the way and hopefully we can join you all at the Boro next month.
  14. Jason Britton-NG Jr Guard 28.5 ppg 9.5 rpg 3.8 apg 2.5 spg 85% FT 60% FG 40% 3 pt Fg 11 30 + point games this season including a 56 point game a couple of weeks ago. Nearing the 1700 point mark for career. All state guard last year helping lead team to state tournament last season. Team has 16 wins this season, team ranked as high as 9th a couple of weeks ago. Has a 3.8 gpa and perfect attendance at school this year. A honor roll student.
  15. People at NG should leave him alone, he works hard with this program to give them their best chance on a nightly basis. That’s all I can ask of anybody and I don’t understand everyone complaining about him. NG is lucky to have him as a coach and would not find anybody better out there so people need to calm down and let the guy coach this team!!!
  16. I don’t think it’s all Tarlton’s fault. They have a young team that has a long way to go. It’s hard to win at a high level when over half of the players you’re starting wouldn’t be starting at any other school even here in Greene county. They’re good jv players but not quite there yet as varsity players. Some of our younger players don’t seem to understand the work that it takes to be successful like we have been in years past.
  17. I think NG will drop some this year but should still be competitive. I believe Cloudland and Hampton will battle it out for the top spot with Unaka and NG battling it out for 3rd. I do think NG could be a contender by the time the District tournament is here.
  18. Congrats to Hampton. They were the better team. Best of luck the rest of the way.
  19. I’m going with NG in this one
  20. Eagle everyone has the right to their own opinion. When you coach some will like your coaching and some will not, that’s just how it goes. I think he is very knowledgeable of the game, maybe not the best motivator. I don’t think anybody expected them to win it all in 2020 or 2021, but this was suppose to be their year with the new classification and returning a group that has played together for so long, but it didn’t work out. They did run into a very good McKenzie team, but I’ll still say there wasn’t much energy from him or the team at that game.
  21. Those are fair points. It’s just frustrating when you see these players work so hard for years to try to get to this point and it just looks like people didn’t really care enough to come watch and support them at the biggest stage.
