It’s 1A basketball with one of the weakest paths to get there. It’s not impressive making it to state and losing by 15+.

I’m not arguing that point. I was just trying to point out that he has really turned the NG program around since he got there. Other than a couple of years, they were awful for about 25 years before he became coach. He works harder than most high school coaches do and I respect that.

Tarlton just needs to get out of North Greene. Terrible coach, just a smart elec with little man syndrome. If ng has anybody else coaching they would be something. He is so full of himself, it ruins the whole team. Most coaches take accountability for their teams losses but he is so quick to throw kids under the bus to make himself look better. The funny thing is he thinks he’s gonna end up coaching somewhere good, well news flash places want good coaches not sucky ones.

Are you serious? Tarlton has won 166 games at NG and is only halfway through his 7th season right now. 3 state tournament trips and I wouldn’t count them out making a 4th trip this season. Also, keep in mind he has done this at NG, a school that hadn’t been relevant in boys basketball for about the past 25 years before he got there.

I’m confused as to why North Greene play people who constantly turn it over, you have older guys out here making junior varsity mistakes. I put that 50/50 on the players and the coach.

They are getting better. They will be a tough out come tournament time. They have several younger players that are getting better every game.

Can North Greenes defense be any worse? They’re sitting at a record under five hundred I believe. With a big region match up coming up Friday night, hopefully they’ll pull out another win. Got to clean up some kindergarten mistakes some of the players make, very sloppy basketball.

You’re right they’ve not been great defensively so far but they have had a tough schedule early on.. Offensively they are fun to watch and I think they are going to figure some things out defensively and they will be there in the end. UH looks really good right now and looks like the favorite in the league and they have a good region opponent in Cosby coming to The Den Friday night that should be a good game. They have some young players that are starting to step up and play better. It’s not how you start the season, it’s how you finish.

Will someone please get Tarlton out of North Greene. The way he treats them is very unacceptable, and he plays all the wrong people. He can’t coach a lick and blames it on the players, he wonders why they haven’t gotten any better, isn’t it the coaches job to better his players?

I’ve always been a Tarlton fan but I’ll admit it’s probably not a good idea to blame the team for every loss and take the credit when they win. Eventually you’re going to lose the team.

And by what I’ve heard from some parents they want him out because nobody likes him other than the Briton’s

Well that’s interesting because I’m not a big fan of any of those parents you’re talking about!! Maybe if they took the time to actually get to know him. People out there don’t care about winning, they just care about how many minutes their kids play a game. It’s really embarrassing they have no basketball knowledge at all.

Not here to argue at all. Just simply putting out facts about student athletes who are definitely worthy of being in the conversation for their work on and off the court. Highlight films are nice, but knowing the full product of a student athlete with their performances on the court, their character as well as how the perform in the classroom is what the coveted award is all about!

    I agree 100%

Jason is an extremely talented student athlete. He definitely deserves to be in the conversation and I believe a finalist for Mr. Basketball. Would be huge for our conference possibly to get 2 players as finalist.

Thank you. I agree it would be awesome for district 1 to have 2 of the finalists. I know we’re rivals lol but we have a ton of respect for Cadon and the entire Hampton program. We know every year to have a chance to get to state you have to get past Hampton. Cadon is a great student athlete that I enjoy watching play. Best of luck the rest of the way and hopefully we can join you all at the Boro next month.

Honestly, what more do you want from the guy?  They are in a lull yes and the talent is a bit down yes, but its not like he can recruit better players (legally).  He has taken NG to the state tournament multiple times, even winning games in the Boro.  What more do you want from him or who would you replace him with?

People at NG should leave him alone, he works hard with this program to give them their best chance on a nightly basis. That’s all I can ask of anybody and I don’t understand everyone complaining about him. NG is lucky to have him as a coach and would not find anybody better out there so people need to calm down and let the guy coach this team!!!

Still think Tarlton is some to blame for their lack of success. But that ng team is just not good. They have very few talented players. How are you supposed to go out there and win when that is your team.

I don’t think it’s all Tarlton’s fault. They have a young team that has a long way to go. It’s hard to win at a high level when  over half of the players you’re starting wouldn’t be starting at any other school even here in Greene county. They’re good jv players but not quite there yet as varsity players. Some of our younger players don’t seem to understand the work that it takes to be successful like we have been in years past.

They will definitely be knocked off the throne they lost a big chunk of their team last year and I think people are giving them too much credit. Buchanan only looked good because of the girls he’s had for the last 4/5 years not because he can actually coach.

I think NG will drop some this year but should still be competitive. I believe Cloudland and Hampton will battle it out for the top spot with Unaka and NG battling it out for 3rd. I do think NG could be a contender by the time the District tournament is here.

HUGE game in district 1 tonight between Hampton and North Greene. One goes home and one basically gets to play in a substate game. Both teams have their ace. Who do you think wins?

I’m going with NG in this one

Nobody is paying attention to you because you are annoying

Eagle everyone has the right to their own opinion. When you coach some will like your coaching and some will not, that’s just how it goes. I think he is very knowledgeable of the game, maybe not the best motivator. I don’t think anybody expected them to win it all in 2020 or 2021, but this was suppose to be their year with the new classification and returning a group that has played together for so long, but it didn’t work out. They did run into a very good McKenzie team, but I’ll still say there wasn’t much energy from him or the team at that game.

It would have been nice to see a larger crowd. I am aware of several that wanted to support them, however gas prices, room rates, work, prior engagements, etc. kept them from attending.
I noticed that many teams (girls and boys) had zero student section nor cheerleaders and some closed schools for it to pack the stands. Some won with no community support, some won with having the stands full. Unfortunately, you never know how any of that will influence their performance.

Those are fair points. It’s just frustrating when you see these players work so hard for years to try to get to this point and it just looks like people didn’t really care enough to come watch and support them at the biggest stage.
