  1. This topic needs vitiation. The OP obviously is a troll, we didn't need devilblaze to point that out. However, the OP did bring up a topic that brought a lot of attention to the situation surrounding the Soddy Daisy coaching change this summer. The information presented by posters on both sides of the whole ordeal have a contradictory nature and the truth will not be discovered through the CoachT message board. Hopefully the enmity will lead to a great dual this coming wrestling season.
  2. You are correct. Turbo is not leaving Soddy Daisy, a very hard decision for him, but a good decision as well. When all the coaching changes at Soddy Daisy happened Turbo wanted to follow the coaches that developed him, but they talked him out of it. Turbo is at a point skill wise that competitive practice partners are more important than who his coach is. His coaches recognized this and wouldn't let him leave Soddy Daisy no matter how much he wanted to! Turbo has made the best decision to put himself in a position to get his state title. I admire the kid for the loyalty he has shown his coaches by following their command even when it goes against his desires. He may not feel great about his decision now, but he'll be thankful come February when he has a gold medal around his neck and possibly another team title to boot.
  3. I'm a little out of the loop on the quality of coaching staffs in the state. I haven't been involved in wrestling for a terribly long time and am usually unaware of a coach's past accomplishments as a wrestler or coach unless someone tells me. Therefore, my opinion on the best coaching staffs is not that great. What are some teams that have incredible coaches? I think it's imortant to note that building a team takes a long time so some of the best coaching staffs may be at a school that hasn't emerged just yet. Lets make this D1 and D2 coaching staffs as well, I think its great when a public school is able to put together a "staff" instead of one legitimate coach and a math teacher who used to wrestle in junior high. I don't want to turn this into a debate about what coaching staff is the best, I just want to know what are some of the most impressive coaching staffs in the area. If you could give some credentials with the coach/coaches names that would be great as well.
  4. The statement was referencing a benefit that the Baylor wrestling will have from past Soddy Daisy coaches that no longer coach there. I'm talking about a couple of guys that don't complain, don't care about recognition, but develop young wrestlers like no other coaches in the area. I think Baylor will eventually benefit from these coaches bringing their coaching skills to the Big Red, but if not Baylor will still benefit from a strong relationship with the Red Bank wrestling team coaching staff. FYI for those who do not know this, Baylor is just right down the road from Red Bank. Like I posted on another topic, I would be surprised if Red Bank was not in the top 10 in the individual state tournament because of the new additions to the coaching staff there. I know if I didn't have the money to send my son to Baylor, I would feel very comfortable with him wrestling for Red Bank.
  5. Soddy Daisy will soon fall off the TN high school wrestling map. The reason they have been able to reload isn't there anymore. Soddy Daisy will continue to feed off the work of some coaches that have been around the program in the recent past, but then they will cease to be a powerhouse. From what I understand there coaching staff may have the least experience in the whole state. Nothing against the coaches that are there, but I don't give people with such little experience that much responsibility in my company. I'm not complaining though, Baylor has benefitted from the coaching decisions made at Soddy Daisy and will benefit even more in the near future.
  6. From my experience around the Baylor wrestling program, I can say that Red Bank High School may sneak into the top 10. Keep in mind that it only takes a handful of good performances at state for a team become top 10. As far as duals go I don't think they'll be anywhere close to top 10, but in tournament situations I'd say definitely; at least by the end of the year.

    Baylor

Baylor has neve recruited. The quality of the campus, teachers, students, and athletics is a magnet for high school students. If they can find a way to get in they will. Take that top 10 list that everyone has been making for example, all 10 on every list would be at Baylor if it was possible. The school is just that great.
  8. Its funny how so many people on here like to give Baylor a hard time about recruiting and then fill their lists with Cleveland and Soddy wrestlers.

    Baylor

It's pretty rediculous that Baylor gets this kind of treatment even though they haven't even dominated D2 for an extended amount of time. If you think back just several years ago Bradley had complete control of the D1 state tournament, every now and then another team would pop up to challenge them (Soddy, Franklin, maybe another one or two), but overall Bradley was the state champs year in and year out. If the Bradley coaches could do control the D1 tournament like they did without recruiting, then what does that say about the quality of the Baylor coaches if they can't even control the D2 tournament while stealing the other teams best wrestlers. Now I think the Baylor coaches have been great and are great currently; I don't think the Bradley coaches are/were any better. I think this just shows that Baylor is not bending/breaking the rules that everyone says they are, if they were then they should have many more state titles than they do (not that what they've won is not outstanding). I guess what I'm getting at is just as a Baylor alum I don't like to see all this criticism, I want credit given to the great coaches Baylor has had in developing their athletes and for opportunities the school offers that attracts all kinds of students.

    Baylor

Why do I hear so many people talking negatively about Baylor? The Baylor Athletic Department has to abide by rules just like every other school, but for some reason many people like to accuse Baylor of recruiting. Baylor got some key transfers this year, so be it. They have established themselves as a top school its no wonder that parents want their kids to attend. Who wouldn't want their kids to be part of a school with the best facilities, teachers, and coaches?
  11. Well I don't know how the school system works, but I would assume that transfer violations would be handled on a more administrative level. So with Coach Henry being the principal at Soddy Daisy now I would assume he would be the one to have to handle a transfer violation. I've also heard that there is some bad blood with the Turner coaches and the Soddy Daisy coaching staff, including Coach Henry. So no I do not think that Coach Henry would let something like that happen. Assuming that you are correct, which I have no reason to doubt, do you think that Turbo and "all the others" have parents that would buy a new house in the Red Bank school zone. Also, who in their right mind would want to go through the trouble of moving just so their child can wrestle for an inferior team?
  12. How stupid would Turbo and the few others have to be to leave Soddy Daisy and go to Red Bank? Have you even compared the quality of the two wrestling programs? I'm sure that Coach Henry won't let his returning state finalist in Turbo leave for Red Bank and allow him to compete. I don't even know if Coach Henry would even have a say so, TSSAA doesn't allow transfers from public school to public without the student sitting out a year.
  13. Good choice on the move Tate! Baylor is the best school in state, it only makes since that the best wrestlers in the state go there.
  14. ScottMike why are you allowed to post? I thought you got the boot after all of your posts last year at this time.
