  1. Yes, I believe HV is moving into the District 4. They will face stiffer competition but Renegar worked on preparing his team for that by getting them some non district games that proved to be tough competition. Next year might be tough for them as they change districts and have a new coach.
  2. I am not sure that Dove is a teacher and that would disqualify him from the position. Joe Michalski currently teaches at the school and has served as one of the assistance working with the pitchers and catchers. He was a catcher himself in college and I believe he played some minor league baseball for a short time. There will be a lot of interest in the position because Renegar left it in very good shape and the team is on the way up.
  3. Sheffield will for sure mature, Seranno has had a few rough outings this year but always keeps his cool, and Farragut most of the time plays great defense and gives plenty of run support. Those things help a pitcher untold! Farragut will win it all this year!
  4. BTW the pitcher that was heckled so brutally at the games he pitched won those games and threw some of his best stuff! So long story short, elite players use it as a motivator and tune it out. Reaction to it only makes it worse!
  5. I agree it heckling shouldn't happen, but I have seen it at every level. Some high schools are worse than others. I personally know a pitcher in this area that was heckled something awful by two high schools in Knox County. I think it is terrible, especially at the high school level, but I don't know what could be done about it. Many high school athletes work very hard at their sport and make great sacrifices to represent their school and they should be treated with respect by the opposing team. Maybe AD's could attend the games and address it with the student body.
  6. These are high school kids playing baseball at a very competitive level, and if young Sheffield became frustrated he should be cut a little slack because of his young age, he is only a junior in high school isn't he? Heckling is just part of the game and most of the time is just done in fun but it can get out of hand and the adult fans should reign it in when it shows extremely poor sportsmanship. Sheffield does need to get used to though because as he moves on to college and maybe beyond it only gets worse. He must learn to shake that off and ignore it.
  7. Weiler comes through in a big way every time he takes the mound! He is a lefty and brings great stuff every outing!
  8. Bill Mynatt â€@bill_mynatt20 Mar @prepxtra Baseball final: Hardin Valley 5 Powell 0. Winning Pitcher: Neely Losing Pitcher Owenby. HVA 4-1, 3-0. Powell 4-3, 1-2.
  9. The chatter from the dugout was absent but their was quite a bit of poor sportsmanship from some of the Powell fans heckling the HV sophomore pitcher.
  10. Who are FHS top four pitchers for 2013? Weiler is a senior at HV and he locates well, changes speeds and performs well under pressure. Neeley just finished his freshman year so it remains to be seen if he will even get many starts, Farragut and Bearden have long established programs while HV has only fielded a team for a maybe four or five years.
  11. Are Thomas, Wieler, Serrano, Neeley and Lane all seniors? What underclassmen should be stepping up?
  12. Who do Farragut, Bearden, Powell, Karns, have for pitching? Oak Ridge will have Lane as a senior. What backup will Wieler have at HV?
  13. What pitchers will stand out in East Tennessee in spring 2013?
  14. I think not! Bearden would be a high pressure job. Why would Rice leave a place that does not even have summer conditioning for the team and move where the expectation from the boosters would be over the top for the same amount of money? It would be a lateral move for Rice that would involve much more work and time away from his family.
