When we started this year alot of people said we would be lucky to win our district. Goodpasture lost 5 seniors after 2011 State Championship and some said this would be a rebuilding year. Well guess what the Lady Cougars made it back and played for their 10th state title only to come up short to a very talented Gibbs team. I am so proud of this team to go thru so much adversity at the beginning of the season and then to become a family with one heart beat is what perseverance is all about. Our two seniors are going to be missed not only as players but as positive role models for our younger players. Madelyn Hill and Brittany Elmore your leadership will be missed but you taught a few young ladies how to keep the tradition going. Goodpasture softball is not just a team but a family, and this family will keep the tradition going. Also what a warrior Mimi Cartwright is, she literally pitched 21 innings in 24 hours in the state tournament between Thursday night and Friday night, and carried this team on her right shoulder literally this year. Coaches Phillips, Cartwright, Spann, Blain, Peroni thank you for your countless hours of dedication and putting up with 12 teenage girls lol. I enjoyed this season and how the team came together and never doubted we would accomplish great things. Thanks for a great season and 2013 get ready for the Lady Cougars we will be back!
