  1. I think if BackinTn is so positive that we are using loopholes to win he should just take his complaints to TSSAA....I'm sure he wouldn't be the first....
  2. GQ competes against tough competition that is loaded with D1 talent almost every year in the state championship. Last season he took a team to state that had 0 D1 players and 0 D2 players and still managed to compete with Whitehaven that had more D1 talent than they knew what to do with. The year before in the 2011 State Championship, Maryville had 2 D1 athletes. Yet again Whitehaven had more D1 talent than they knew what to do with and GQ coached them to a victory. I'm telling you it's the same way every year. GQ and the Rebels are clearly outmatched on paper and somehow they always manage to win or keep the game very close. There are no high school coaches in this state and probably very few in this country that can be as competitive as he his with the quality of players he's given. The man is a heck of a coach and I gurantee you can put any team on the field against him and his team is going to play that team tough.
  3. Have some good friends playing their last home game at Shields tonight. Should be a great game and I look for Maryville to come out on top 38-24. Go Rebels.
  4. Always a great atmosphere at Maryville for football, but it's even more special around Thanksgiving being that it's the final home game of the season. Should be a great game. Hoping Prevo will be back this week, he'll be a huge help in defeating what sounds like a tough Blackman defense.
  5. Don't get me started on ole Joe Pinkerton either.......he and I have butted heads once or twice.
  6. I do like your optimism as well, however Maryville's current freshmen class is one of the most impressive athletics class they have had in a while. I'm not just talking about football either, mens and women's athletics are very strong in this freshmen class. It is perhaps one of the most talented classes to come through Maryville in a while in terms of athletics all around. But regardless congrats on the win SC and it sounds like Maryville vs. SC will no doubt be a great game this year but for many years to come.
  7. The Rebels will have their way with this one. I'll say 42-7 and I give HVA 7 because they might score on some of the younger guys.
  8. Should be a much more competitive game than Webb and Alcoa were. West seems to have good athletes and it should be a good test for the Rebels defense. I see GQ and the Rebels rolling in this one 35-17.
  9. Wow the ignorance.....it kills me. First, lets have a lesson in how the education system in the city of Maryville works. Maryville High School is a public school where you have to either live within the city limits or pay tuition to attend the school. You compared MHS to Ensworth which in all reality, the two schools are almost nothing alike. Ensworth can offer scholarships and financial aid. Maryville cannot do that. In regards to our players, the graduating class of 2013 had 0 Division 1 commits and 0 Division 2 commits. The only players that went on to play college football committed to play Division 3 football. So to wrap up that thought I'd say coaching had a little bit to do with their success. To end up my critique of your ignorant post, I'd like to respond to your witty comment in the end regarding the State Championship game last year. Whitehaven had 11 Division 1 commits, and as I stated earlier Maryville had zero.....Whitehaven defeated Maryville by one point....ONE POINT. I'd say that's pretty impressive and I think many of your fellow SC fans would agree. So maybe just double check your facts next time you want to post something about another team. Go Rebels.
  10. Always a great atmosphere no matter where or when Alcoa and Maryville play. John Garrett surprised a lot of people with his play last week mainly due to the fact that the quarterback position was such a question mark for Maryville. Looking for him to build on that success. Maryville's main challenge looks as if it will again be the secondary. Alcoa seems to be more of a dual threat team this year, rather than a mainly running game focused team. Despite this I see this battle being a close one up until the fourth quarter when the Rebels pull away and come out of this one victorious 35-24. Should be a great game.
  11. The Rebels have yet to lose to a squad from Knoxville since being moved up to 6A. I seriously doubt that even with TK and company that Webb will change that undefeated streak against Knoxville schools that the Rebels have going.
  12. I don't think accurate predictions can be made until the brackets come out on Saturday. After we see the bracket, then we'll talk odds. Until then Go Rebels, congrats on the win.
  13. Maryville is looking good this year. Although a foot injury to junior starter Isaac Edminston will hinder them until mid January. Their big win over LC did speak volumes about the talent this team has this year.
  14. Very true RR the Rebels also have a very promising sophomore class that includes Bryce Miller Dylan Shinsky and Tyler Vaught.
  15. This was my first experience viewing the comments on the sentinel website. It really bothered me all the negative feedback and pure garbage that was being put forth about high school athletes. I just feel that the players should never be bad mouthed when they are just out there to enjoy the game they love.
