  1. we have a NuWay National level event coming to Memphis, TN April 22-23 This is a mixed combat event bringing Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, Judo and MMA competition together under one roof. The synergies between each discipline is a win-win and opens up opportunities for our wrestlers. This is the culmination of bringing the right groups together to build something new, unique and complimentary to Tennessee wrestling. New TENWAY socials were set up in 2022 to help promote the NuWay events happening within TN. We have had 2 events in Gatlinburg for a few years now (BJJ in the summer and middle school individuals/duals in December). Now adding the Memphis event with an opportunity for high school and older athletes to toe the line again. Gatlinburg's "The Bear" brought over 300 out of state youth wrestlers to TN in December and this new event in Memphis opens the doors for high school and adults to compete as well. Free agent posts on facebook show teams from PA, MI, MN and MO to name a few recent posts. The tournament director has verbal commitments from teams in the following states: PA, NJ, MN, MI, MO, NE, IA, SC, FL, GA, AL and of course, TN with more to come. Here are the basics for wrestling: Individuals – Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Folkstyle An opportunity for youth, middle school, high school AND young adults looking to see if they still have "IT" (or something close to it). 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 13U, 15U, High School & OPEN (18+) Duals - Folkstyle 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 13U, 15U & High School Bring your best, Bring the all star squad and let's roll! 2. Not sure how to add pictures to coach T. These are listed on our FB page; posted June 10th. https://www.facebook.com/ArlingtonYouthWrestling/posts/pfbid0wjPWuamq4pAYxfyvQLavSdxgNJfMrqeTi4Ld6xegYsk9if1boNArdxFC5RK8Ybipl
  3. 30' x 42' classroom sized practice mats for sale. 12x 8' circles. EzFlex 6' sections. looking for best offer; Pick up in Arlington
  4. AS disruptive as it may have been, The Willis Clan episodes will air in June. This could be a good opportunity to bring more media to the sport. Grabbed this detail from Arlington's Facebook page. If you were at regions @ Dickson back in March and wondering what all the cameras were for, here are the details. The family is called the Willis clan. You can find them on facebook. The episodes start airing on June 27th. There is a little bit of the tournament on the first episode, but there is a lot more of it on the second episode. GAC is the network.
  5. Since Arlington and Wave have both run the two largest tournaments effectively in the area, why not let them run it?
  6. Biildebutcher; Pretty sure the wave kid won. What article are you referring to? This is the article from the top 100. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2013/feb/03/youth-wrestling-meet-pins-large-crowd-for-sport/
  7. Too many clubs with Elite as their name.
  8. Good point Chevylover. That was a reality show, right?
  9. Interesting topic. Would need to see more than the 300 kids that attended the top 100. Probably need to leverage all of the clubs relationships to help with the draw. Should be one or two that work well together and have follow through.
  10. Not lately. There is only one match that I can think of where they got it wrong and two kids into OT. Probably what drove the chaos just off that mat. I recall a few tournaments in the area where a young guy screwed up calls left and right, argued with parents, and table workers.
  11. Didn't seem like Arlington had any issues. When it comes to growing the sport in Memphis, things just can't "fall through". Ambition is nothing without careful planning, execution, and follow through.
  12. Tournament was okay. I thought the refs were better than some of the Memphis refs. I think the number of participants for the geographical size of the region was smaller than expected. What was all the chaos going on on mat 5 towards the end?
  13. southern champions @ houston in mid-june is noted in an earlier post in this forum. I've heard Arlington will be doing their camps for beginners and experienced wrestlers. Not sure about Eagles, or Agoge. I think we're all anxious to hear more about the resident camp full of super stars (Jordan, Pat, and Dan). Wasnt EWA working with the Memphis Sports Council and Christian Brother to put this together?
