I'd say Butch is doing a great job recruiting. The 2014 recruiting class is rated #2
Butch is doing a great job recruiting. Just don't forget anyone around here that can help. I don't have the best feeling about how some of thee kids get ranked by these recruiting services after seeing a couple of them this year. Must know something I don't because I've always considered a kid that can make an impact at the next level has to be a difference maker in high school.

Didn't know where to post this, but here seems as good as any.....
What an extraordinary young man Patton Robinette is. His composure at "The Swamp" yesterday was amazing, especially as a (red shirt) freshman. I don't recall him making a single bad decision. Vanderbilt is most fortunate to have him. Carta-Samuels may have trouble getting his starting position back!
It will be interesting to say the least to see how far he and Coach Franklin take Vandy over the coming years. For now, maybe he can lead the 'Dores to another rare SEC road win - in Knoxville in 2 weeks. Stay healthy Pat!
I got so sick of watching both games at the same time that I just turned the Tennessee game off and watched the Vandy and Florida game. Tennessee is done for this season and Vanderbilt will win because they will dominate the line of scrimmage like they did against Florida. UT has turned it's nose up to so many locals over the years that ever now and then it comes back to bite them. When the Jackson kid from Central came in here and beat UT at home a few years ago is one case in point. Cobb gave UT headaches also and now Patton can be that thorn in their side and he'll only get better as time is on his side being a freshman. Not really sure what the deal is with the kids from Fulton but UT needs to figure some way to get them unless it's grades.

HVA 42 WB 21
Give both of those schools credit for a good thing they done yesterday for a good cause.

I watched them play Jeff County on TV this year and couldn't believe the shape that program has fallen to. Love to see things come back at Central. Seems like behind every fallen football program there is a group of weasels in power or involved.
-
Funny , a team that has made the State Championship 9 years in a row , 14 out of 16 years , most years having to beat more talented teams to get there , and you think we have "chemistry problems " !?!? George pushes the right buttons year after year after year . Plus I think we have had a huge amount of great high quality kids come through here that have bought in totally and given their all for Maryville High .... Jmo
Seen very good teams in the past give G.Q. loads of headaches from kids with the big heads that thought they were indestructible. I would never mention names on here but you know who has given him grief in the past and some kids he has had to suspend and just throw off the team. That seems to have a pattern of happening in the past with teams that are returning most of the starting players.
-
Lot of kids returning that start and backups for most of those positions they lose play half the game anyway. Only position I ever worry about is QB but for some reason they never fail to come through year after year.

The TSSAA is going to have to address all the horrible refs before they destroy the product we all love so much. I know it's easy to see the game from the stands because the action happens so fast but some of the clowns that are let out on the field today takes the cake. I watched the clock operator a few weeks ago at a Maryville game let eight seconds tick off the clock after the player ran out of bounce. The same guy has done this a dozen times over the past few years and he'll be right back next year to do it again .The idiot that made the bad call in the championship gave the TSSAA a big black eye right on television for everyone to see last year and crap like that goes on everywhere and it needs to be cleaned up fast before the damage really gets done.

How many players does Maryville lose after the season?
This is a rebuilding year for Maryville. Sometimes in the past the Rebels have done better on a rebuilding year because of the simple fact that kids do get egos and big heads and get their self set up to get knock down. seen this many times in the past at Maryville.

I love the Vols to Rebelron but I also enjoy winning football and it's very hard to watch what we do on Friday nights just to turn around and watch the complete opposite on Saturday. I look at some of those people that go to those games and wonder to myself how they could enjoy paying out all that money to set in a tiny little seat to watch that brand of football and pay a kings ransom for a couple of hot dogs and a coke while UT makes a killing off of them. I do believe Butch Jones will have something in the end but I believe that's going to be a couple of years down the road. Until then I will watch them on TV and avoid being suckered in by UT's propaganda machine.

Why did He resign? They were in the Playoffs last season.
News to me. Maryville had a hard time with L.C. but the Rebels had a bunch that were sick that night but they did play tough then the next thing I hear is Heritage coming close to beating them. I think he did a great job down there and built that program to a respectable level. hate hearing this news.

You play like your competition is the reason Kingsport can't win the big games like last night or Maryville. The competition in that area is weaker for some reason and I just don't know the answer why but it is. If it were college we would be comparing Upper East Tennessee to the Big Ten and the Knoxville area to the SEC.

Never one to argue who's going to win or who is going to lose because I don't enjoy eating crow.

It is a sad sign of the times that we are even having this post. High School Coaches now are under the same pressure of college coaches "to win soon and often." High School coaches differ somewhat from college coaches in that they have to play the students zoned for their school and can't go out and recruit players. The facilities that the High School coaches deal with are dictated by the whims of Politicians and not the generosity of a booster. High School Coaches have it rough. They are low paid for the time they must spend building/maintaining a program. They must forfeit their summers to condition the players for the upcoming season. I think the days of coaches staying at one school for a long career maybe over with. Just like college coaches.
We all have good years and bad years in our chosen profession. What if our employers decided to turn everyone over after a bad year?
When you coach high school football your not signing up for a free vacation. You know what your getting yourself into and sometimes it's good and a lot of times it's bad. There are places out there that have a long road of failures and there is usually a reason. Normally there is a behind the scenes person or persons that cause so much interference even Nick Saban couldn't do anything to help that program and a perfect example is Heritage High School. God bless Tim Hammontree and all the hard work that man has poured into that program but the predecessors that came before him destroyed that program so bad it might never be able to be fixed and who ever put her in charge of the athletic program deserves the blame also. I myself would rather take on the job of raising the Titanic.

Sorry to say the officials last night were really actors from a new reality show premiering on A&E next spring.
-
That year started off with the boy's making funny money and G.Q,set their butts out of the Alcoa game. G.Q. can tell you that was the most pressure he has ever felt at Maryville.

Miss the days when Central was a power to be dealt with. Not sure if moving school lines and where kids go to school had anything to do with the program going to pot or not. I do know the Central fans were great fans and deserve better than what I've seen in the past couple of years. I do know if that happened in Maryville someone would get run out of town on a rail real fast.

When a basketball coach wants to wear the Kings Crown at any school it's not smart for a good football coach to hang around.

Getting sick of these empty seats all around me at the Maryville Football Games this year. What in the world has happened. We had more people coming to the games when we were climbing the ladder then when we got on top of the ladder. Not sure if games aren't fun any more because of no competition or winning just got boring or what. I've watched people that have kids playing over the years and after they're gone they never come back, Hate that. I myself get tired of listening to public address system wearing us out with stadium rules, and mentioning the sponsors so many times during the game it makes you sick. Can't even talk to the person beside you for the guy on the P.A. system running his mouth like a bugle on a gooses hind end. The guy announces all these silly rules but I'm not the one that made the paper for keeping some elderly lady from sleeping at 9 p.m. and fixing to get the school in some kind of lawsuit over it. Put a sock in it or someone please bring a roll of Duct Tape and see if that works.

Life is short Matt Lowe, don't spend it at a dead end road. Take the Seymour job and don't look back.

Maryville needed a game like that last night for a good wake up call. Bradley was a lot better then their record and the refs sucked so bad it wasn't funny. When it comes to a tight game with any team from this point a piss poor called game could end your season real quick. Last night was a good reminder of that.
-
Looking forward to a good Morristown East team next week and I can bet Maryville won't overlook this team. Had so many good games with West in the past that it seems strange to finally be playing East.
-
Was the refs bad or were they bad tonight. Bradley came to play and Maryville didn't. Put this recipe together and you get a 14-14 halftime score. G.Q. must of had a good prayer meeting at halftime and it ended 42-21. Good wake up call for the Rebels to not count chickens before they hatch.
-
Warning to all Bradley Fans, eat before you get here. The concession stands at Maryville are the worst in the State of Tennessee. Might want to find a good bathroom for the ladies also before you get here. Ah you'll see what I'm talking about when you get here.

I read in the paper today that the game W.B. played doesn't go on their record. How Come?
