  1. In a nutshell, its the same as the running events.

In A-AA, the top 4 finishers from each regional will advance to the sectional round. In addition, the next 4 finishers (outside the top 4 in each regional) will also advance to sectionals.

In sectionals, the top 2 advance to state competition. Then the next 2 times from all the sectionals will also advance.

In AAA... get someone else to explain it.

AAA has 4 sectionals with top four going to state in each for a total of 16 in each event.

  2. Pyle it on boys,we can take it.Like I say before, what goes around comes around.

I feel the love ET. I saw this in the newspaper.

Nice field for lease inside city limits. Never used much this time of year. Available until spring. NO Pets!!!!! That ain't grass boys "WE GOT TURF"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I hate it for the seniors, there won't be another group with the talent level as this team in a while. All the DB bashers get you some, cause what goes around comes around, you can bet on it. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Hey Mr. ETATHLETE! Thanks for the personal note. However I ask to to find one statement in my post that was not a fact. Can't do it can you!!!!!!!!!

One and done ain't much fun!!!!!!!

  4. Another year, another "upset" loss by the tribe. Same ole song year after year. When will they stop ranking DB first in the polls, since they know they aren't much better than a top ten team. Oh well as the "STUPID" shirts that the DB morons wear always remind us poor ole county trash "YOU GOT TURF". There's always next year when you can lose again in the first or second round.

    Get out the basketballs boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. We were told by the Executive Director of the TSSAA, in our track rules meeting several years ago, to give the athlete an opportunity to comply with jewelry and uniform rules at the site of the events they are participating in.

Sometimes even when given they opportunity to comply they either adopt an "attitude" or won't do it and go running off to their coach (to complain about the coach running off the event) who should know the rules and enforce them before the meet even starts.

It seems to me like " me-itis" from some athletes. I will do what I want when and how I want to. nobody is going to tell me what to do. Thank God that the majority of them are rule abiding. What are the rule breaker's coaches doing? I am a H.S. coach and have been for 19 years. Get control of the "me-ites".

Thanks coach for the comments!!!!! Word to the wise, if you are coming to the AAA sectional in Johnson City Friday, their will be several certified officials working the meet so you better KNOW the rules beforehand.

  6. What happens if SHHS loses for the 4th time this year to the hated tribe? Does that mean people will jump on the coaching staff again or will that mean they will wake up and see that SHHS can not match up with DB height wise. But Seriously when has a DB team beaten SHHS 3 much less 4 times in one year?

Science Hill looked like the better team Tuesday night but maybe it was just their opponets were that much different. DB may have their hands full tonight they did not look that good against Greeneville and show signs of peaking a little early. Win or lose both will have a tough job Monday in sectional. Good luck to both.

  7. Morristown West picked a bad time to go on the skids! DB should roll Saturday night.

I do hope the Trojan fans bring alot of fans to Kingsport. DB's Student Section was great in the District Finals this week (3 times the Toppers crowd)

    Roll Tribe Roll

District one will win at least 3 and possibly 4. I see DB and Science Hill playing again in the finals. For those Science Hill people who are calling the radio about the coach and not being able to beat DB, just remember that you CAN get to the state tournament without beating DB it is just a lot tougher to do it that way.

  8. I would agree with 1 and 4 seed games. You have Conference Champs in the 1st rd. when has that happened. Those games should be close, very close. Might see both top seeds fall if neither one comes to play. I will see those of you who are going at the Greenville game.

If Greeneville wins it they have definately deserved it. That is a tough bracket. The big question would be can our 1 and 2 do anything against the Knoxville teams???

Not going tonight but would love to see the TH and Greenville game. I rate it a toss up, playing at home might be the difference for Greeneville. I think DB should win and hopefully are not looking ahead. South is playing pretty good now and so is Science Hill. I say district one wins 3 games.

  9. Both teams had the same officials, but the officials did not call the same way for both teams. Frolich and Devine were fouling way more than Caldwell and Nickels, and they couldn't "adjust to the way the game was being called", as they were already on the bench in the 1st quarter. So bad that one of the heads over the officials called one of the parents to apologize. From what I hear, this issue may not go away soon. It won't change the outcome of the tournament, but it might change the future of 2 officials. Can't say more, but the rumor mill has been spinning in Kingsport.

Not saying that DB wouldn't have won, it's just a shame that two girls as talented as those two didn't get a shot to finish their season in a better manner than sitting on the bench.

Still rooting for any of these teams to beat the District 2 teams in Greeneville.

As an impartial fan who just went to watch the game I must say your view seems to be a little scewed. I saw several things by both teams that wasn't called but did not think it was unfair one way or the other. Yes Boone was called for more fouls but they commtted more fouls. All of Caldwell's fouls looked legitimate to me. Don't recall those by Nickels. If you go an entire quarter without scoring don't expect to win those games.. Sorry but better luck in track and softball.

  10. When and who plays who? Who has the best shot at winning this years district title? Will THS make 4 in a row or will someone finally knock them off?

Tenn. High should be a slight favorite but any of a group of 5-6 teams have a shot. D-B could have a shot to win if their dipstick coach would let them play a little. South, SH, both have a good chance. I wouldn't want to be playing Central the first round either. It should be interesting!!!!!! Probably the most wide open field in several years.

  11. Went to ETSU / Wingate exhibition game sunday week ago and noticed Coach Smith talking to girl after ballgame, looked to be a guard. Dark aburn hair, about 5' 6'' she had on a DB t-shirt. Any ideas who it might be?

I probably was an innocent bystander. DB doesn't have anyone eligible to be recruited who could play there.

  12. I heard that a sophmore guard from volunteer high school's last year girl freshman/JV squad gave up a starting position on varsity this year and transferred to another school. She was touted as possibly the best girl basketball player to ever attend volunteer and would have a big impact on upper east tn baketball. Anyone know who she is and where she went?

I heard she has enrolled at Shelbyville High School in middle Tenn. They have a way of finding and getting great players. Good luck to her.

  13. Molly Kennedy from Hume-Fogg in 04'. Won the high jump. long jump, triple jump, shot put, and had a second in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. At least 56 points. Not sure if she ran on a relay or not.

That's why we have the 4 event rule.
