  1. Shut the front door. I think our Cavs may be a better team this year, but we will definitely miss the production of the players that have moved on in their careers to the next level. With that being said, I would pick the Cavs just like last year (4-5). The Cavs have to earn it on the field. They have to step up and beat one of the top three before I go there. I have to reply with my head, and not my heart. My heart tells me to say #1, but I learned a long time ago to not let my mouth write checks my butt can't cash. I think the Cavs will compete top to bottom in every game. I hope they stay healthy and let the chips fall where they may. I think with what I'm hearing that the attitude, and effort is there to go toe to toe with the big boys. The Cavs just may have a punchers chance against the big 3. It will be here before we know it. I am ready. **Coach Maynord does have a nice stache!!
  2. Heard that some Riverdale boosters have been up in Cookeville seeking out the services of former Riverdale assistant and current Cookeville Cavalier head coach Jimmy Maynord. Sure hope that he stays put.
  3. Also to answer most of the other jibberish on here. The Cavs have much respect for the Rebels. The Cavs will show up and put up a fight until the final horn. Don't know the outcome, but I say the Rebels will respect the Cavs after the game. Win or Lose the Cavs play with class, and show up to compete regardless of the opposition. You are number one regardless of class, region, or year. Until someone knocks you off, you can chirp and talk all you want. You have earned that right. I hope our guys put up the kind of fight that they are capable of. If so, I think we are in for a game worth our $8. I would bring up Ralph's but they wouldn't make it. If you have any left over, just send the box my way. By the way, strange things happen on Friday the 13th.............
  4. No zone in Putnam County. You must live in Putnam County to attend a Putnam County High School, unless your parent works for the school system. Cookeville High School is the fourth largest school in the state.
  5. I think the key this year, verses years past is that Maryville may have to play 3 of us instead of just one. Like the bowl games verses the SEC. One game is one game, but playing a few in a row is much different. However as old Ric Flair has said, to be the man you have to beat the man, and Maryville is the man.
  6. I think you saw Jay King play against Oakland. When has Oakland played White Station???
  7. I think the SOS was talking more to me!!!!. I agree that the CAVS still have two very tough games to play. However, Vic did not play but one quarter at Warren County, and got dinged up with a hip injury. He had 6 carries for 49 yards and 2 td's early. Got injured on the first kickoff of the game, and tried to fight thru, and was pulled. Was on his way to a very big night. Not all about stats and numbers. I think Jacoby, and Okeke are both better players. They just don't touch it like the two running backs do. Dowdy is a great runner, and will put up very big numbers through out the year. Would you want to switch supporting casts with Vic??? I think what he has done with what is around him is outstanding. **Have not idea about Mitchell, but I hear he is as good as advertised.
  8. Victavious Johnson has played in 8 games. 152 rushes for 1556 yards and 19 TD. A 10.2 yards per carry average. Averages 194. 5 total yards per game. This coming in what I believe is one of the toughest regions in the state, where they know that he is going to get the football. He was also the 6A choice for All State last year at RB. He would be my choice, to at least be in the running. There are some good players in this district and state wide. I am a little biased. I would also add Ikenne Okeke from Smyrna to that list. Don't know about stats, but he is a baller.
  9. Got to stop a few minutes, and make my weekly Coacht visit. I am very excited about this game. The Cavs get to see where they stack up against one of the best in the state (according to the last few years). It is an opportunity to go out and compete, and see where the chips fall. Many expect a blow out, some expect a hard fought game with Blackman prevailing in the end. A very few expect a upset. I don't know what to expect. I do know rain or not, I will drop my 7 dollars off at the gate, get my pizza, and popcorn, and drink. I will settle in at the top of the bleachers, and see what happens. Hope everyone stays injury free. Don't know who the wet field favors. I think the Cavs will open it up a little more tonight, Be interesting to see what unfolds. Go Cavs. PS-Why not give it to Vic until someone stops him? Over 10 yards a carry is good!!
  10. I look for it to be a very exciting brand of football tonight at Siegel. Cookeville will get tested by Siegel's high powered offense, and Greedy Howse. Is Howse the most dynamic running back in the Boro as some have said? The Cavs were gashed last year by Grays from LaVergne. It will be interesting to see if they can slow down the fast pace offense. Maybe the Cavs have improve on D as the weeks have went by. It will be critical how fast they can settle in verses the tempo. The next question is can Siegel slow down the Cavs offense and Vic Johnson. Have the Cavs been playing it close to the vest, or will the Offense open up more?? I won't be able to attend due to a work related trip. Please let me know how it looks in person, as I will only be able to keep up with the score on the T. Good Luck Cavs!!!
  11. This is a rivarly game. I expect it to be a lot closer than most of you are predictng. I think Sparta will play with everything that they have to win this game. I do think Cookeville is more talented, but the rivarly aspect of it will keep things closer. Never underestimate your opponent. Especially one who knows you well.
  12. The way the Cavs have started the last two games, it will be hard to mercy rule anyone. They have looked better once they get rolling, but the start of the game the last two weeks have been very sloppy. Need to get that cleaned up in a hurry. Looking forward to the homecoming festivities. Good to see the old alumni come back and take in a game.
  13. If only REDBONE was coaching the wildcats!!!!! UCM
