Still a ways away yes, but maybe not as far as you’d think. I know they have a few very good athletes there alr with the word being more are on the way. Matthews can coach, there’s no debating his coaching resume. From what I hear, they are really making a push towards football and it’s obvious. Take their youth camp recently for example. Had over 200 kids show up. To put in perspective, Central had like 35-40. That’s gotta mean some steps towards Football becoming a priority there. Just my opinion

Not who I was thinking but a hire has been made at HVA

Obviously won’t be Pressley, since he took a HC job in GA. I’ve had a strange feeling ab who would get this job since it came open. I’ve got a hunch, depending on who and how quick the AD job is filled.

And out of respect to my source, can’t mention names. But I will say it’s a mentioned candidate so if you look it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out. Personally I’d support the hire and think it would be a great fit, but there’s a couple small details to be worked out first from what I’m told. Again I expect it to come early next week.

School out and weather actually has delayed it, yes. I’ve been told there is a candidate in place and the job has been offered to him. Now whether or not he takes it, that’s up to him but the offer is there. List has definitely been narrowed down to just a couple and a couple really good names have already turned it down(different reasons), and it had nothing to do with “Central having no talent” or any of that crap. I expect a hire next week once school is back in, unless they announce something today which I don’t see happening.

Knowing who interviewed yesterday, if a decision has been made already, it’s one of two and yes it wouldn’t be Stevens. All I’ll say is one was/is a known candidate. Other is a very interesting candidate who I believe could do very well. Only time will tell I suppose…

Stevens had not even applied for the job last I was told so that still seems to be a myth to me. I’ve been told there’s a couple interesting candidates in play. But there was an opportunity for a BIG name and that has come and gone sadly, let’s just say the right language wasn’t used in the discussion.

My point is you act like Powell and West are completely unbeatable, I was simply saying you’re comparing them to those Maryville teams by saying they aren’t beatable. Perhaps you should read a little closer before ya post, either way it’s comical.

You heard huh, exactly it was hearsay until it happened. I hear things all day everyday but until they happen it’s all hearsay. And it’s hard to be a “candidate” for a job until the job is actually opened, at least in the real world maybe not yours . So a program that is rich in tradition and talent since heck the 80s is supposed to “lower” its expectations right? Because nobody that is a really good Coach could possibly come in and win there right? Nobody could possibly start keeping Central talent home instead of it being poached to Powell and Bearden and private schools right? Nobody alive can do that according to you….well bad news for you bud it can be done, has been done and will be done again. Central will rise again, maybe not be in the state title game every year. But it will always be a playoff contender and a great school for football.

So let’s think about this, this job just opened TWO days ago heck maybe not even. Hard to believe there are “front runners” yet considering it just opened up and No interviews have been conducted. Secondly, any idiot who thinks this isn’t a “wanted” job either doesn’t know much about HS football in Knoxville or is just in denial. Wether it’s in a downturn rn or not, Central is and will always be a premier job in Knox County public schools in Football. Let the debate carry on…

Everyone in Knoxville better be glad Coach Rosser left. Because if he hadn’t, we’d still be competing to go to State every year and maybe have another ring since then. He was on the verge of something very special, and no other coach around here including the “Recruiters” could do anything ab it. I miss him dearly, but I understand why he had to go.

Sounds like to me, Slovers son did a decent job at QB and his dad wasn’t taking him out, but everyone else players, parents and possibly admin wanted a FR QB who they all think is better to start. Debate on who is better but here’s the real thing. Did Sweetwater not know when they interviewed him that he had a son who was a QB? And did they think he honestly wouldn’t start him?
