  1. Hopefully this a lesson for all school systems to actually take care of your facilities after they've been built
  2. Hard to see Caine leaving Upperman for somewhere that isn't a clear step up
  3. Honestly think new schools should be ineligible from scheduling Varsity competition until they have all 4 grades. Unless it's a situation like LC where the whole county board is all in on seeing them succeed, first 2 years are gonna be rough
  4. Slowly, but surely. Oakland, Blackman and Siegel have it, Smyrna and Riverdale are up next and I suspect SC & Rockvale won't be far behind. Not sure LaVergne, Eagleville, or MTCS will get it
  5. Gary Rankin perfected this at Riverdale. No telling how many times he got a raise bc his name was attached to a high profile vacancy
  6. One of the true greats of TNHSFB at a time when just making it to the playoffs was an accomplishment
  7. Yes let's move the goal post for the grand number of TWO magnet schools that happened to be good at football and have only won a single state title bewteen them in the last 25 years. Would you even care if either were 5-5 every year? Of course not, meanwhile Pearl and EN have to constantly fend off the alphabets from leeching off their talent, yet they thrive in spite of their disadvantages. We used to tell our kids to improvise, adapt, overcome. Now we just pat them on the back and tell them to blame someone else for their failings, take their ball and go home like your doing.
  8. Apparently ya'll already forgot about Scott Smith, 7 different programs in 22 years as HC
  9. Sure glad she signed early to play at MTSU
  10. I'm not crazy about it either, but the ones that don't adapt will be the ones sitting at home every november
  11. Hate to tell ya, but you could say that for 95% of the state. Credit to AC for challenging themselves in non-region instead of go the easy route to a 10-0 record
  12. The TSSAA is merely responding to the trend around the country and when the state tries to push "school choice" down everyone's throat, there is only so much they can do. The best coaches adapt to their situation. I believe Derek Hunt is a very good coach but a refusal to accept this as the norm going forward is going to lead to some rough years. Biggest crutch for Maryville has been QB play. Maryville used to be the gold standard at that position, cranking out a FBS or FCS QB every 2-3 years. It allowed them to be truly balanced and take whatever the defense gave them, which is still pretty rare at this level. Maryville has been too good over the last 50-55 years to stay down for long
  13. Your probably right I just think Palmer is trying to get back to 5A/6A and he has the resumè to go with it
  14. Solid hire for Forrest. I'd keep an updated list though, I'll be surprised if Palmer is there in 3 years
  15. Last 4 HC's have been Melton, Webb (61-44), Clayton (65-22) and Johnson (35-7), I call that a pretty good track record going 3/4. Probably could have given Melton another year but 2 wins in 3 years (including 17 losses in a row by the end of his tenure) makes it hard to defend. With as much success as the county has in football, there's going be 1 or 2 that suffers. Franklin isn't the job it used to be, but I don't think they are that far off from being a decent team. This would be a situation where bring in a young, unconventional coach would probably succeed
  16. Only person that's laughing is you, petty halfwit coward
  17. He's asking for proof bc in America, the burden of proof falls on the accuser and not the person being accused. Everybody loves to yell cheater until it's on them to furnish facts that back up their claim
  18. Thank you for saying it better than I ever could
  19. Didn't say he was a good coach, just that this was the hire they always wanted, McMillan was just a stopgap. In Knox County, it's more about the talent you can attract
  20. Something that we as a country do a piss poor job of is promoting trade/vocational schools. College isn't for everyone and you shouldn't be made to feel stupid just because it's not for you. Absolutely agree that we as a country dont give kids the tools to have a chance to make a living with their hands
  21. Being an HC is a grind, probably even more so at the private level. Potter looked like a guy ready to give that responsibility to someone else
  22. Upperman, you better get used to the idea that ppl will hate you for being successful and that means they'll use every excuse in the book and hope one sticks. Most can't get their brains around the idea that success recruits itself
