This is totally for discussion and I'm not trying to start anything... but I've been reading this thread since the beginning and I've got to ask... What do you see in this Culleoka team? I will say first that I've not seen them play. I have seen Mt. Pleasant, Richland, and Santa Fe either in person or on hudl, but not Cully. So by just looking at their schedule/results on here I don't see what could be surprising in their outcome with Mt. Pleasant.

Unfortunately... I don't think it will happen under the current TSSAA layout. Occasionally you will have a good team here and there, but besides maybe Richland & Mt. Pleasant you won't have a competitive balance that will compete year end and year out outside the district. The Maury County schools are to small to compete on a yearly basis. Especially when some of their talent transfers to Columbia Central, Columbia Academy, etc each year. 2018 TSSAA Enrollment Numbers ( ) : Region/Sub-state Schools: Loretto (531), Summertown (486), Union City (454), McKenzie (376), Houston Co. (417), East Robertson(404), Other Competitive Middle TN Single A teams: Eagleville (403), Fayetteville(350) District 10A Schools: Richland (370), Mt. Pleasant (401), Culleoka (284), Santa Fe (192), & Hampshire (114) Hard for teams with a 284 or less student pool to compete every year with schools pulling from 531-400. there are a lot of depends with this... If the player started 9th grade at this school then they could be grand fathered in and could live anywhere they want. I've seen where kids have started high school at a certain school and then due to what ever reason the family had to move, but the kid stayed behind to finish school. And that's just possibility.

If that was Fayetteville City School Board's policy then I agree... but If the TSSAA rules against that policy and goes with bus routes only then there are going to be a few other public schools worrying.

First... congrats on the success during the regular season this year. I've been following and pulling for the Region 5AA teams. .200 ? Overall 4-5 = .400 and in DII 4-3 = .571 CA is 4-3 in DII with the three loses coming at the beginning of the season against the #1, #2, & #4 ranked teams in DII-A. Also their other two non-region games were against the 9th ranked teams in the State in both DI AAAAA and AAAA divisions . Yes, CA lost a lot of talent from the 2018-2019 but I'd say the 4-5 record is from also playing up against tougher competition. I guess they could have easily scheduled some smaller schools for their non-region games and improve their regular season record to 6-3 instead but what does that win you? Again, congrats on the great regular season.

Maury County are all under the same school board. Spring Hill HS, Culleoka, Santa Fe, Mt. Pleasant, Hampshire, Columbia Central, and the new Battle Creek that will be open in the future. Players can live in any of those school zones (and even out of county) and play at one of the other schools. I'm sure there are certain requirements but they aren't hard to do because it's done often in all sports. Williamson, Rutherford, WIlson, Giles, Marshall, Lawrenceburg, etc... are all the same way. Now in some of those counties WIlliamson and Rutherford the bigger cities like Franklin and Murfreesboro have their own school board for elementary grades but are all under one school board for High School.

This part definitely confuses me. There has to be another way for players to become eligible outside school's bus routes, because it's been done and is being done a lot in our local county school system.

28-8 Columbia Academy win. 14-8 after 1st quarter. Mt. Pleasant only had one offense series where they moved the ball. That was due to a 75 yard TD hook up between QB Lovely and WR Hudson.

I read some where that it would each year between West, Middle and East

Summertown, Cascade and CA were definitely the Top teams this year... great battles to the end!

Totally agree with the “Ain’t over till fat lady sings” part. Cascade and Summertown are strong teams.

We understand tomorrow is a new day and we probably will see Summertown again... but not a bad win today by a team with a starting lineup that includes 3 -8th graders, 2 freshman, 2 sophomores, 1 junior, and 1 senior.

Sky Polk has been at CA for years, since elementary age... great kid! He has worked his butt off to get to where he was this year. He didn’t make varsity his freshman and possibly his sophomore year, played limited action last year and stepped it up this year.

The "Giles Co" kid you are referring to did move into Columbia Academy's "school zone", he lives within feet of the CA Campus. I also could be wrong but i believe he lived outside of the State before going to Giles Co. last year. Also saying "Public schools can't have a kid.." isn't true either. Public schools all over this State including Maury County public schools have kids that don't live in their "school zone" playing or transferring in for them. One of Mt. Pleasant's starters lives in Columbia (or did last year while playing for them), Hampshire has two starters that live OUTSIDE Maury County and one living in Columbia starting for them, there is a Culleoka zone kid playing baseball for Central while his sister still attends and plays for Culleoka, Richland had a kid that lives in Columbia on it's roster this year, Eagleville brought in their coach and his son (their best player) from Chapel Hill this year, Fayetteville's best player transferred in from Moore County, etc, etc, etc... ALL that being said... if it all follows TSSAA rules then it's perfectly fine for public and/or private schools to do it. "Then work hard to win another after this year while playing on an actual LEVEL PLAYING FIELD against D2 schools starting next season." There will definitely be some growing pains from losing the best senior class to have ever come through CA, but they will.

Two talented and well coached teams!!! Both fan bases should be very proud of their boys!!! Everyone else is wishing they were playing today but only two can!
