  1. Shipped from Minnesota, that has to be wrong. We certainly must have somebody in our state that can print, assemble and ship Donovan's book out.
  2. How would Coach Rankin do if he were at Maryville and how would Coach Quarles do if he were at Alcoa?
  3. I think all smaller programs, public & private, should entertain the thought of playing 8 v 8 football games. I have seen games in Texas in person and they have just as much action, if not more, than regular HS football. The TSSAA is looking into this opportunity. There already is a league for very small non-TSSAA members that play.
  4. Couldn't there be a 7 v 7 and no coaches involved, like people who have 7 v 7 teams outside of the school system?
  5. You are incorrect about the officials, that money comes from the TSSAA's 50% cut.
  6. They have been playing either semi's or finals in Atlanta for years. In all regions there is only 1 team placed in each section of the state. And basically the state is divided by I-75 and I-20. You can actually have 2 teams from the same region playing for the state championship.
  7. Big difference in payouts: 1. every playoff game -->12% off top goes to GHSA / 50% to TSSAA, 2. Officials paid off top at GHSA / TSSAA pays out of their 50%, 3. Travel teams get $4 or 5 a mile to travel one way - GHSA / Tssaa lets travel team have 25% of gate, 4. GHSA - after expenses both teams split gate 50-50. GHSA take 4 teams from each region and place them in 4 brackets across the state. EVERY TEAM that travels, no mater 50 miles or 333 miles gets mileage money per mile one way. Tell me who has the better deal. Games played at Georgia State for a reason. Mercedes-Benz Dome wanted $600,000+ for rent, all concessions, and all parking.
  8. Yep and Red Roberts will be inducted into the TNFCA Hall of Fame this December in Chattanooga during the Blue Cross games.
  9. Wonder how cheap the hotel's will be and how close to the stadium compared to Cookeville?
  10. Might be hiring from within.
  11. Why not rotate between Knoxville, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Memphis? Those are our D-1 FBS sites. And Nashville has 2 choices, Vanderbilt & Nissan Stadium.
  12. How about this. The CHS football alumni club wanted to donate $250 to a GoFundMe account in this young man's name. Told you can't do that because the club is an SSO and that is against the rules.
  13. Asking a very serious question...Are most Booster Clubs classified as School Support Organization's (SSO) meaning they have to follow state SSO guidelines or do they not classify as SSO therefore they can continue to support high school sports and not be restricted by state guidelines? In both cases they must be a non-profit organization file with the state.
  14. APSU seats 10,000 and they say that is not enough. Not sure my memory is correct but I think the largest crowds in Cookeville over their tenure as host has been 12,000 and that has only been a few times.
  15. What is the seating capacity for Jackson?
  16. Walking distance for hotels and restaurants can't be better than Vanderbilt at any of the mentioned cities. Would love to see it come to Clarksville but size of stadium will be a factor and Johnny's is the only place to eat within walking distance and currently no hotel within walking distance.
  17. Friday night a young football player from Clarksville HS, named Juland Laforture was shot and killed. Asking for prayers for his family, his coaches, his teammates and his classmates. This crap has got to cease. Two young lives in the past two weeks, taken too soon.
  18. The LB coach played at Oak Ridge and MTSU, yet another Tennessee connection.
  19. Coach was there in 1982, long before Tanner was born!
  20. JMO, Titans Stadium would be the best site. NFL would to schedule no home games for two weeks surrounding the championship game...OR PUT IN A SYNTHETIC SURFACE AT VANDERBILT OR TITANS STADIUM. Don't think that will happen at either venue.
  21. Absolutely agree and I would think that "magic" number would not exceed 300-400 students.
  22. I have mentioned this to TSSAA. I think it would be great for smaller Class A schools.
  23. His position coach at Tampa Bay, Rick Christophel, played and coached at Austin Peay as an assistant and Head Coach. Rick also coached at Southern Arkansas where Tanner Hudson played.
  24. If my memory is correct I believe Nebraska had 2 All-American OL in the 80's that played 8 man football. Granted that was 35+ years ago, but I believe both Dave Remington and Dean Steinkuhler (sp?) played 8 man football. I know for a fact it is successful in Texas. I have asked TSSAA about it as a possibility but I think you would have to have a limit on the size of a school to have an 8 man football.
  25. Wonder if Hammontree feels he made a mistake in leaving Maryville for the Georgia hedges?
