  1. Give me Community over Giles & Forrest over Magnet in the first round. Community over Nolansville & Marshall over Forrest in the semis. Community over Marshall in the championship.

Forrest will be lucky to win a district game this year. Program has taken a nose dive since that 2014 district title.
  4. Community and MTCS should both win by 20 plus. The Forrest @ McEwen game should be the best of the bunch. I expect it to be a close one and Forrest to pull it out by 6-10 points late with some free throws. Eagleville @ Houston Co should also be a decent game. Coach Lynch will have his team ready to play, but I don't think they have an answer for Houston Co's post player. I will take Houston Co by 8-12.
  5. 14/15 on All Season Predictions. Congrats to all and good luck to 9A in Region!
  6. Wow that's impressive. Definitely look forward to watching him. Has he committed anywhere yet? And have you seen Foster or Hopkins play?
  7. Just realized I made a mistake. Consolation will be MTCS vs. Eagleville. Not sure how I messed that up. I'll go with Eagleville in the consolation. Could still have a little momentum from knocking off City.
  8. I agree when game planning around MTCS Buckner is the first person to look at. That is why I stuck with Pierce as my selection. I just didn't know if Wilkerson being nominated would sway coaches opinions.
  9. I do not have much insight to the AAA or AA finalist; however, I have closely followed District 9A for years now and even before Foster and Hopkins played in the district. Now I have not seen the kid from Clay Co play, so I do not know where he stands in this race. From watching Foster and Hopkins since they entered high school I believe Foster is the better player. I have felt that way their whole careers, including this year. This year Hopkins has flashier stats. He was even as high as # 2 in the NATION in scoring. But he is forced to take every shot for that City team and they finished 5th in a mediocre 9A this year. Foster is a more well rounded player. He may not shoot the 3 as well as Hopkins, but he has a better mid range game. He also excels driving to the basket and can score in the post. Both are capable play makers, we just do not see that much with them both being the top option on their squads. Foster also has more of a defensive impact for his team. He is a pretty good shot blocker for his size and can sit down and shut someone down if he wants to. That being said I would just give him a slight edge in that category since both players exhaust most of their energy on the other side of the ball. Finally, Foster's team is having much more success this season. He is leading one of the best teams in Single A, who have a legit shot at hoisting the Gold Ball at the end of the year. For that reason, I give him the edge in this race. Both are great players, and I wish Hopkins the best of luck at Belmont as well as Foster where ever he goes. I hope Clay Co can make a run to state so I can see their finalist play. Good luck to all three players the rest of the season! Side note: It will be interesting to see if the 9A MVP race and Mr. Basketball race agree or conflict on the 9A guys.
  10. First Round Eagleville vs. City: I like Eagleville in this one. Kelley from Eagleville is the most underrated player in the district. Eagleville has been knocked out in the 4-5 match up the last two years. I do not think he will let this happen three years in a row, as a senior. Community vs. Moore County: Community should win this one fairly easily. Pride is on a roll, and Community is finally getting some solid guard play from Wiesner. Community is the one team in the district who can match Huntland's post play. Semi Finals Huntland vs. Eagleville: Huntland should win this one by 8-12 points. They are the most talented team in the district. FWIW I believe Foster should win 9A MVP and Mr. Basketball over Hopkins. His numbers are not quite as flashy; however, he is a more complete player and plays on one of the best teams in the state (Singe A). MTCS vs. Community: This is an intriguing match up. I like Community in a tight one. They are really peaking at the right time, and I don't think MTCS has an answer for Pride. Championship Huntland vs. Community: This could be Huntland's toughest game to this point in the season. They really abuse teams on the boards, but Community has the post play to match them on the glass. Community might have the best coach in the district on their side. Not Coach Davis, no disrespect to him, but the tall assistant coach the have really knows what he's doing. If Community can motivate Pride to make life tough on Foster for 32 minutes they have a real shot. However, I am going to go with Huntland in this one as they are the more talented and experienced team in this match up. They have a real shot at the gold ball this year if Foster can catch fire like he did at tournament time last year. They have solid post play, a veteran PG, shooting, and most importantly experience. It also helps that Single A basketball in Memphis is a bit down this year. Consolation MTCS vs. Moore County: Moore County had a feel good win over Forrest in the play in game; however, MTCS is the superior team and should win this easily. The region tournament should be very competitive this year. We will probably see a 9-10 split with Huntland and Lead both for sure winning. I do believe Region 5 will sweep the Sub State battles this year. Good luck to all remaining teams!
  11. All Season Predictions: Community- Pierce, Reed, Barnes MTCS- Wilkerson, Buckner, Adams Huntland- Golden, Lewter, Mclennan Eagleville- Barnes, Burns Moore County- Hawkins, PG Forrest- Yost City- Horton MVP is a toss up between Pierce a Wilkerson. Would have said Pierce before Miss Basketball finalists came out, but think its a coin flip now. I'll stick with my gut and say Pierce wins it. I believe Coach Lynch from Eagleville will take home Coach of the Year. All Tournament selections will obviously be based on how things finish up. Good luck to all remaining teams!
  12. Did not get a chance to post predictions before the tournament started, so I will just go from here on out. I see Community over Eagleville in the 1-4 and Forrest over MTCS in the 2-6. In he championship game I'll take Community over Forrest. Finally, in the consolation MTCS over Eagleville. FWIW, I think 3 of the 4 9A teams will win the first region game with the 4 seed from 9A (Eagleville in my eyes) losing.
  13. 1. Huntland 2. MTCS 3. City 4. Community 5. Eagleville 6. Forrest 7. Moore Co
