ETSU will always be a train wreck. George Quarels is a great coach at turning his athletes into fine young men. That should be the main goal of any coach. Yes, wins mean a lot to the fans of a team. But a coach is not there to coach fans. So being a person that molds these players into men is the first job. Then comes helping them play football. At ETSU things might not have gone well in terms of wins, but you can bet George made a positive impact on his players for the rest of their life. He may not be a impressive college coach in terms of wins at ETSU. But, I think he is the best high school coach Tennessee has had, in terms of wins. He is also an overall good guy off the field. I think he probably sleeps very well every night.

My conclusion after watching the game is that Alcoa is simply really good this year. To break it down. They are very big and strong on the line, both sides of the ball. The QB was very good. He was dangerous on the run and he did well passing too. He was difficult to bring down. The defense was good against the pass and really got after the QB. The amount of skill players was apparent. They coached this game well. Maryville does not seem to be as strong this year as past years. We look good at RB and O-line. The D-line is fine. Where we are not as impressive s we have been in past years is the secondary, our receivers, and QB. But, you can't have everything EVERY YEAR. The thing I like about Maryville, is many times I was not overly impressed early in the year, but they always improve vastly. We probably won't lose again, unless it is late in the playoffs. With that said, we were still just one play away near the red zone of winning this game. And that is what I like about this program.

NFHS will not have this one. It will be on Diamond Clear though.

How about games at Maryville? Can you still pick them up at the office early like before, or do you have to use gofan?

George Quarles and it is not really close. Give Rankin his due, but George was unmatched when the game was on the line and you need a play to win the game.

I'm doing good. I probably will not be able to come back to games, but I see the on NFHS and still keep up with the Rebels.

I know Rankin is the winning-est coach in the state and will win 3A year after year. Last night he had the faster, stronger players. He had a good lead at the half. Maryville is always a great team and they just have an ability to pull games out when in doubt. I think the loss last night lays at the feet or Rankin though. His player played well enough to win.

How sad...
