  1. The true question is not who the favorites are, because so far it's either a team out of region 6 or Fayetteville. The question we should all be asking is who will be the surprise teams? That's the teams that are not on a favorites list that will come out of nowhere and make some noise. What are all your thoughts on that?
  2. Just throwing this out there. Michigan uses a playoff point system to determine whose in. It used to be if you won 6 games (they play a 9 game regular season), you were automatically in the playoffs. However, that led to teams playing weak schedules to make it in. Then in 2020 they adjusted it to using playoff points based on strength of schedule and who your opponents played. adjusted_sos_point_formula_table.pdf (mhsaa.com)
  3. Wow….this almost one of those “Tell me you didn’t play high school football” without saying you didn’t play high school football.
  4. It's been mentioned that playing a HS varsity game on Thursdays could hurt middle school attendance. That is a definite truth, especially in small towns where fans attend both kind of games. The other thing is many of the MS game officials are also officials on Friday nights. So are MS games going to have to be moved or cancelled?
  5. Yes Fayetteville beat South Pitt last season after being considered huge underdogs. Any team out of the west was going to be considered that. As to the LC/Fayetteville game from 2020, Fayetteville won by 2 scores. The 2019 version of the LC team could have named the score if they played the 2020 version of LC. Not only did the 2019 team held the class A Mr. Football to one catch, they also shut down a D-1 Va. Tech commit and made him look silly, apparently running the same play at him at least 10 times late in the game. Anyway, we can argue this all day, but it still doesn't change the fact that Fayetteville didn't play and LC won it all.
  6. Actually no. According to the TSSAA Board of Control meeting of August 16, it's handled this way: So since Peabody and Lake County are making up (and using non-region scheduled game dates), it's a legit game.
  7. Lake county has 210 according to the school count, so Peabody is roughly 40 students shy of doubling Lake county up. And they (LC) want to play.
  8. Lake County schools have been closed since this past Friday, so they have not been able to practice at all. The earliest they could practice is tomorrow assuming that they don’t have to many guys in quarantine since the district does contact tracing. Tomorrow is when the district is going to open back up.
  9. Heat index. Also could be watching film. They did scrimmage Friday.
  10. Has Coach Wolfe at West Carroll stepped down? Listed on the Teachers of West TN Facebook page is a list of position openings and one is for HS head football coach.
  11. Obion's JV team lost to Northside's freshmen team something like 42-0 this past season. Not sure on winnable.
  12. Probably not, as previously mentioned. West Carroll radio crew had to set up in the visitor bleachers.
  13. Assuming Peabody goes 1A, I don't see the state having a 10 team region in 1A when everyone else has at most 6 teams. The 10 team region would be West Carroll, Peabody, McKenzie, Halls, Greenfield, Lake Co, Gleason, Humboldt, South Fulton and Dresden.
  14. LC took their lumps when Peabody and UC dominated Region 7 and got better. They'll play the game whether Peabody is on the field against them or not. Of course, when you are the largest school in 1A, you ought to be dominant. To be otherwise means they would underachieve.
  15. You never know what they ill do in Nashville. If they place they Rebels in region 7, it would the largest 1A region in the state with 8 teams.
  16. They did not play this season. The only point of comparison between the two teams was their games vs Northview. Both teams lost to Northview. Union City lost 18-8. LC lost 48-36 while only dressing something like 16 players because a number had to be in quarantine.
