  1. Looking forward to this one. Couple of questions and answers after finally seeing MASE in person against Peabody. 1. Can they win the game? Yes they have the athletes and line to matchup with anyone in 1A. 2. Will they win? Probably not. 3. Why they won’t win: First, I have a hard time believing they can have 20 penalties against Trenton and turn it around and play a penalty free against a much more talented McKenzie team. Second, MASE didn’t complete a pass all night against Trenton. Their RB is a stud, but he can’t win it by himself against McKenzie. MASE can win this game but let’s face it, they escaped against Trenton whose only offense was the QB running the ball all night. They are a very good team but I’d take McKenzie by at least 2 TDs. Hope it’s a great game and I’m wrong lol
  2. I think it’s pretty unfair to judge Peabody on last week. When the second string QB went down, they had to pretty much adjust the whole offense on the fly against a good team. It wasn’t like they had another option at that moment
  3. Hard to predict this one just based on all the new personal on both sides as well as Peabody missing some key players on offense. I like Peabody’s chances if they can establish the run game and control the clock. However, if Westview is able to pass on them offensively and make it more high scoring I think that favors the Chargers.
  4. Congratulations to Milan, they were the better team last night. Both teams had opportunities throughout the game and they capitalized. Couple of takeaways. Milan: Lots to be excited about. Program appears to be headed in right direction under Carr. Their RB’s are really good, tough to stop, and that Pruitt kid made some great catches. Solid effort by QB too. I thought their defense really did a good job of bending but not breaking all night. Played solid football, and didn’t make mistakes that cost them very much. Deserved to win. Trenton: Great effort, and didn’t quit with the adversity faced. After the 2nd string QB went down, the game could have gotten out of hand, but they made it a game. Defintely don’t think it’s fair to judge them based on this game since the offense is so far from what it could be at 100%. Also I think a lot of the mistakes made came from inexperience, and will improve as the season goes along.
  5. I always have a hard time predicting this game but it’s usually because both teams are very good. Lot of question marks this year. Milan has a first-time new coach which is unpredictable sometimes, but I’ve heard they’ve had a solid lead up to the season opener. Trenton has had a total restart as far as skill positions go, but have an experienced line. Lots of guys making their first varsity start. Never doubt the Tide and their preparation, but the new starters as well as Driggers being out and being on the road at Milan week one is a tall order. Should be a great game. Prediction: Milan 21-Trenton 21. Game suspended due to snow lol
  6. Great game! Good luck to McKenzie next week. Very evenly matched game, with both teams having shots to win. Really felt this game would be decided by penalties, turnovers, and special teams. Trenton really hurt themselves on all three while McKenzie played a much cleaner game. That’s the difference
  7. Almost an impossible matchup to predict. These teams appear to be dead even without taking a deep dive into it. Just hope the officiating won’t determine the outcome of the game. Luckily the LC/Trenton game wasn’t close enough for this to happen, but if it’s that bad, next week it definitely could
  8. Trenton actually has a richer history in football than you might think. Yes the 80s/90s/early 2000’s was a mediocre period for them. But during the 40’s/50’s/60’s/70’s they were very successful. Before the John Tucker years in Milan, Trenton had the far superior record of the two as well (obviously that changed up until the last 10 years). And adding what they have done lately, yes they should be on the list.
  9. McKenzie was the second best team in the state last year behind Trenton in 2A…..by a razor thin margin (could have easily went the other way in their Quarterfinal game). With them returning the majority of that team, they are no doubt stronger this year than last and a favorite to get to Chattanooga along with Trenton and Fayetteville
  10. Huntingdon has the ability to win a gold ball this year, that offense they run can take the ball out of the opponents hands and if you get behind, it’s really hard to beat them. However, it’s a double edged sword too. Their best defense is their offense. If their opponent can score and take the lead (especially late in the game) I can see where it would be very difficult for them to come back. I think it’s fair to say it’s not a home run hitter type of offense (not saying they can’t score on big plays though).
  11. No problem at all with McKenzie at #1, they are undefeated against common opponents (Huntingdon) with Trenton Peabody. This will all play out in the next month when the west is decided between Lake Co/Trenton/McKenzie/Fayetteville
  12. No serious poster from Trenton or West TN believes Trenton will run rule McKenzie. I truly think that Trenton played a completely different Huntingdon team than McKenzie did earlier this year, but they won by 20 and Trenton lost by 20
  13. Congrats to Huntingdon, great game. Well deserved win, it was their night for sure, and great atmosphere in their stadium! Couple of takeaways from the game. 1. Huntingdon is the real deal. They totally dictated the tempo of the game. There were about 4-5 swing plays in this game and they won them all. Hats off. They were better last night. They are a serious threat to win state in 2A if they dictate like that. 2. A big reason Peabody had an off night was because their opponent was locked in but literally nothing went their way last night for the first time in a long time, and playing from behind the whole game changed the playbook completely. 3. I don’t always think losing is good for a team, but i really think Peabody losing this game might be better for them than if they won it. The streak was incredible but it really was becoming too much added pressure on the players and the coaches and in some ways maybe kept them from getting better. It might be the thing that gives them a reset and puts them over the top to compete for another title. 4. Great atmosphere, great game, both communities should be proud of their teams and congratulations to Huntingdon!
  14. This is tough game to predict. Both teams are well coached and winning on the road at Huntingdon is always a challenge. While both teams have common opponents (Milan and Westview) those outcomes hardly predict how this will go because of how injury-plagued Milan became as the season progressed and also due to the fact that playing Westview is completely different than any other game.
  15. For Huntingdon to win this one they need to have long sustained drives and take the ball out of simpsons hands. Don’t care how good their defensive backs are, you won’t stop their passing game. You just have to hope that balls get tipped, their receivers make a mistake or Simpson loses a few (unlikely). Putting pressure on Simpson isn’t the answer either, he’s probably more dangerous in that regard
  16. That would be the knee jerk reaction and I definitely think that had some consideration in making the jump. However, with realignment, everyone in Milan’s 3a region either moved up to 4a or down to 2A,. 3a is almost nonexistent in rural west tn with the new alignment so they really didn’t have much choice
  17. South Gibson has a good team this year from what I’ve seen so far. They’ll play again in November
  18. Okay that might be true but instead we have to play McKenzie (who blew out Huntingdon, Fayetteville, and South Pittsburg, and Lake County. That’s harder sir
  19. Anybody who overlooks the Mustangs are in trouble. Been one of the best programs in West TN for a long time, and they usually consistently play well into late November, early December
  20. That’s true too. I would put my money on Westview too but not by 5 tds….maybe 2-3
  21. Yeah I don’t think they will beat Huntingdon by that much. Huntingdon is a good team and the style of offense they play can really dictate the tempo of the game. Very Union City-like
  22. Agree 100%. It’s not logical for that to happen, and I think Trenton is very good, but it’s too early in the season to make those outlandish predictions. They are going to play a lot of good teams this year with Westview being one, and there’s a good chance they won’t win them all. Guarantee all they are worried about is winning the last game of the year.
  23. I definitely think this will be a good and competitive game. Especially if Simpson is given enough time in the pocket and Westview can get some scores early on. It will be a very interesting game either way
  24. Like this post and think it has some relevance, anyone that is good will look great against subpar talent. Not saying that Dresden is bad, but they haven’t been very relevant the last few years. I do think that Westview is quite a bit better than they were last year, the big question is how much ground have they made up against the more elite teams? We’ll find out Tomm night
  25. I agree I don’t see either of them beating them but I think it’s fair to say as far as west Tennessee goes, there’s a significant shortage of quality teams in 2A and 3a this year with a few exceptions
