  1. I have seen Drew lock down the opposing teams best guard a few times now it was no surprise to me what he was able to do to a great player like Joe Anderson. It is a testament to the type of team player he is to be so unselfish and do the little things to make his team better. We got to see a glimpse of what he could do if he choose to last night his drive and dunk showed he has the skills to be a force on offense to go along with all the incredible things he does on defense. The blocks he had on Joe's step back jumpers were impressive and his ability to stay between Joe and the rim completely frustrated Mr Anderson it appeared. I personally think it was Pember who got under his skin so much that when a late foul on a drive caused Anderson to loose his cool and start the whole shoving verbal altercation in which a few players from Maryville left the bench area #24 and 11 specifically. What is supposed to be the penalty for leaving the bench area during a altercation? Was a great environment last night Bearden is as everyone knows loaded and Maryville is very solid well coached team.
  2. Being there still trying to figure out what the Ts were for please tell me what they were for and why they were justified? It really is sad that the officials were so incompetent that they made what should have been a great game very hard to watch. Sitting with several Maryville fans and over herd them saying it was tough to watch the game had no flow because of officials. So please do tell how they were justified?
  3. Just throwing this out there East beat Columbus by 4 in November and Columbus beat Bearden on a clutch 22 footer with a hand in shooter face at the buzzer to win by 3. Basketball is about match ups and tournaments are about guard play and defense. Hope the match up comes late in the state tournament but could be a good game.
  4. Bearden guards are so good that it makes you over look other players that are really good. Roman is always making a big 3 while seldom missing it seems. (would be nice to know his percentage from behind the arch) Then you add in Drew his ability to protect the rim and disrupt passes allows Ques and Trent the freedom to over play on defense and create havoc. Oh yea forgot to mention Drew is pretty solid on offense also. He is fun to watch and given how much he has improved with his body control as the season has gone on he could be really scary next year. You add Shamarcus and his ability to grab offensive rebounds and finish around rim even after contact you have the makings for another special player. I hear they have a JV kid who cant play varsity till sometime in February who is a very solid player as well. The rest of this year (and the next few JV only lost 2 games freshmen undefeated) could be really exciting.

What is the format of the district tournament? 1 and 2 host and winners move to highest seed place for last part. I just cant remember the finer points any help appreciated
  6. I was at the game...Maryville looked and played like they had a long off week...timing and rhythm just a little off....big credit to them the battled back and played hard.... Same Referee made 2 calls at end of game that a lot of officials would have left the whistle in their pocket on...both were legit calls just not always called.... first one tie game Maryville holds for last shot misses and Maryville fouls on the rebound as time ran out....put 1 second back on the clock and both free throw were made.....a length of the court inbound pass a designed catch and shoot that takes maybe 2-3 seconds from when the ball was touched bodies collide foul called as buzzer sounds.... one call for Maryville one call against and two made foul shots and one air ball and on made shot....that is how the game ended with officials escorted off court by Knox Counties finest.
  7. While I am not a fan of either school....I can recognize basketball talent respect good coaching and maybe provide an unbiased view point. The OR/DC match up at Arby's was epic for East Tennessee basketball. At best it was a top 10 ten game all time at the Classic. Considering it was a local team playing a neighbor from the west added so much to the atmosphere. Will the next game played draw 7k fans? Most likely not because you wont have the DB SH Tenn High East and general fans of basketball in attendance it will for the most part be fans of the schools playing. What makes the Arby's special. Tee is the best football player i have seen playing basketball since Kirby from Virginia. Sheer athleticism and the raw skills he displays are crazy good makes you have to ask just how good can he be if he choose to work on basketball more then part time? Good is a basketball payer..... he is too small he cant do, he will never make it, where is he going to play in college.... well all i know is the kid just finds a way to get it done. Having older siblings i am sure he took it on the chin and herd about it everyday from big brother and big sister. (well he plays with a chip on his shoulder like he was schooled in the back yard at home daily). As fans and even coaches we tend to forget just how big the heart comes in to play when talking about how good a player is. For the wing player who can play both inside and outside change the game with his strength and athleticism and simply makes the entire gym go wow Tee is the best. However for the undersized underdog who nobody ever said they could make it but somehow his teams and he just simply seem to always win. You then have to give it to Good. it is like trying to compare King James to Mr Curry both great players very different players but both great. How do you choose who is better simple..... you argue for months weeks and years on a message board and the debate never seems to be settled. Both are great players both are winners both are great kids both come from great families who raised them with a wonderful set of values so i say keep winning boys and keep them on the opposite side of the bracket and lets see if either can show the west just how special they are. Coach vs Coach Both have learned from great coaches Pitts and Pearl just to name 2. Both have the respect of theirs players and both get their teams to play extremely hard. Most if not all High School programs would love to have those qualities in their coach. X and O both seem to be able to scheme with the best of them. Green however has more experience so he gets the vote for better coaching but Good seems to have all of the traditional basketball schools in upper east Tennessee screaming to fire their current coach and bring in Good to replace them. Alumni of the great and all powerful SH have turned there back on their great school and become supporters of Cow Pasture High why for the most part it has been one person Good. When you look at the list of assistants and volunteer coaches on DC bench you have to look twice it seems there is a who's who's of SH alumni.... That by it self is reason to make you think that this Good guy can coach. In summary Coaching edge would go to Green but as time passes could Good close the gap...time will tell. Player that all fans who are honest with themselves has to be Tee. He is better....Good will just go back to work on his shot and ball skills and just keep getting the job done till one day he has done what everyone said he could not do and that is make it. The only loser will be the fans if these 2 great coaches and players don't get to lead their teams against each other one more time this year. The game they played at the Arby's was well a Classic. As a basketball fan I look forward to following them for years to come.
