  1. I see that what I had heard through the rumor mill was true! It will make for an interesting game against Mcnairy! Congrats on the job Coach.
  2. I have heard through the rumor mill or grapevine, which ever one you would like to say is less accurate lol, that Bolivar has their eye on Scotts Hill's old coach. Rumor is again, that since Mcnairy 'fumbled' on not giving him a chance to even interview, that Bolivar will try and scoop up the loose ball and go score touchdowns on MC. This could be an interesting scenario play out!
  3. I agree, our middle school team takes the struggle bus to games. He saw the writing on the wall and I don't blame him for getting a pay raise and hopefully more talent. If our folks would have paid, he probably would have stayed. Jut my opinion.
  4. I've heard nothing but great things about John Ross. Give him a chance and see what happens.
  5. Congrats Coach Truett. All of us that wear the purple are glad we don't have to compete against him next year. I am hearing some rumblings that some powers that be wanted another guy hired and one person wouldn't give him the opportunity. Any truth to that?
  6. This is an opinion question that I have heard argued both ways.... If you have a coach that consistently wins 18-22 regular season games a year and consistently stays atop of their district standings but then they get put out every year either in the region quarter-finals or region-semi finals, are they considered a good coach? 1) Are they a good coach because they consistently stay competitive due to their regular season schedule and district record? or 2) Are they a bad coach because they can never get over the hump and win the big games?
  7. If he is as good as you all say he is, and I have no reason not to believe that, then I wish we could get someone like him in our system wearing the purple. If the principal wanted to move in a different direction, did the principal ever look at the talent level? You can change the paint on a broken down car and guess what, it's still a broken down car!
  8. I'm hearing that Lake County might go with an assistant from out of the area. But then again, knowing their history they will keep it in county.
  9. I agree 100%, Coach Williams will get corrected what needs to be corrected and the TCA Lions will win at USJ!
  10. I agree, I can definitely see this happening!
  11. So if he was unprepared, unseasoned, and undermined, why was he hired? As an outsider, this sounds like the ones who hired a coach like this should have their jobs on the chopping block as well. But we all know high schools athletics do not work that way. So who will Mcnairy go after? And looking at those records of the last decade +, who would want that job?
  12. I have to get off of CoachT and stop reading all of this nonsense. Each one of you gave your opinion on what you personally want to see kids do, not what's probably actually best for each individual kid. How about we just let kids play what they want. Let them go after their dreams and do what they feel is necessary to accomplish those dreams. If they want to focus on one sport, then let them. If they get hurt because of over-usage then that is on them. If they want to play multiple sports and they do not sign a scholarship because they did not focus on one sport then that is on them. I knew when I was a freshman in high school what my dreams were and I set goals and I focused on that. I stayed injury free by the way. I also played a secondary sport that did not take away from my primary sport. (And before you say kids don't know what they want or what is good for them at that age, these kids are on their phones with social media everyday making decisions that can help or hurt them. Some are behind the wheel of a car everyday and the wrong decision could hurt themselves or someone else. So, if they are making these decisions everyday, they can decide what sports they really want to play.) Parents don't force them or push them in a certain direction. Let them tell you their dreams, goals and then help create the best path for them to succeed at that! Don't try to relive your glory years through them or try to create glory years for yourself because you weren't good enough in high school. Be there to support and help, that's it! High School coaches don't push them in a certain direction and fill their heads with lies! Every coach in every sport is out to win because they are judged on wins and loses. I get that, but, if you are truly for the kids and what's best, support them in their decisions. Don't try to talk them into coming and playing for you just because YOU think they will help you win. I'm sure there are athletes at every school that could help another program win, but if the kid doesn't come and try out or comes to you and asks about playing, then leave them alone! If you are truly about the kids, then truly be about them and help them accomplish their goals. Not yours!
  13. You're good, I definitely was not throwing any shade at The Ville.
  14. I believe the trainer you are talking about is an actual employee at A'ville H.S. That sure would make for a long day to drive a kid from Selmer all the way to Scotts Hill and be back to Aville for work. Then have to drive back up there after school to pick the kid up and bring him back to Selmer. Doesn't make a lot of sense unless this kid is Derrick Henry lol. And it's funny how the people from Mcnairy county only complain when it is a good player. Didn't you guys have a couple of kids who transferred to Corinth and Kossuth a few years ago and are excelling at those places? Instead of insinuating cheating from other programs who do things the right way, you need to ask yourselves, what is wrong with our own program and why do kids want to play at other programs and for other head coaches before they want to play at ours.
  15. Just saw where Hardin County is open. Who will they go after there?
  16. What is everyone's thoughts on doing like Kentucky and playing your area no matter the classification? For Example: in Jackson you would have: Southside, Northside, JCM, Liberty, Madison, USJ, JCS, TCA, and Sacred Heart. Could possibly have two districts out of that. And then maybe go south/east and have: Chester, Lexington, Scott's Hill, Mcnairy Central, Adamsville, and Hardin Co. Then Maybe west/south from there you go: Middleton, Bolivar, Haywood, Fayette Academy, and Fayette Ware. And do this through out the state. Memphis would be divided up into several districts there by location. Just a thought. Any opinions?
  17. I messed up, He's actually 1-1 in district play.
  18. It looks like they are undefeated in district play and in first place. Not sure how tough that district is but I would say he is doing a good job so far.
  19. I agree with WestTnHoopFan. Madison lost everyone to either graduation or to JCM(rumor on this comment). Scotts Hill is returning everyone and they have a senior on the team who can light it up. Watched him play last year. And for Scotts Hill to make it to the region in the district that they were in last year says something! Especially if they have everyone returning.
  20. 1) Mckenzie. 2) Houston Co 1) West Carroll 2) Perry Co 1) Bradford. 2) Dresden 1) Peabody. 2) Middleton
  21. District 11: 1) Hickman. 2) Camden. 3) E. Hickman District 12: 1) Westview. 2) Union City. 3) Gibson Co District 13: 1) Bolivar. 2) Scotts Hill. 3) Madison
  22. I would say a solid hire considering how late in the year it is and basketball is about to start up. He is probably not teaching, so it works out for them. They do not have to try and create an opening in the classroom. He can just come in and coach. Collierville can get through the year with a solid coach and then regroup and see what direction they want to go in come spring time.
  23. Can't leave us hanging, what happened here?
  24. Hahaha easy as following a recipe on the label of a soup can. I never said that coaching was easy. I guess that is what all the college coach's do since they have a shot clock(Just follow the recipe). And just because you are down two with 45 seconds remaining, does not mean you have been out coached.
