Exactly! The entire starting offensive line are wrestlers not to mention the other skilled players playing on the team, a lot of toughness from wrestling and improving on tackling sure helps from the wrestling room.

I understand Nolensville being A-AA as they are a new school and growing out of A-AA what are the reasons for the other schools, curious.

Alcoa also won there Football classification state Championship that should make them wrestling champs also?? Possibly if they were on different sides of the bracket they would tie for 1st ?

Signal Mountain beat Red Bank 52-19 thats the field,

How badly was Jonah Bird injured from Red Bank?, looks like he was out for a month and his first or second match back and injured when they wrestled him up to 170 against Allen Ashworth.

As they are a new school and started with freshmen and sophomores and now have juniors this year they have already exceeded the small school enrollment and with the addition of another freshman class will be a big school next year according to Williamson County Schools.

Anyone know how they will pick the seeding for the two vacated spot by Pigeon Forge by not qualifying and Page for going big school? Greeneville will be #1 as they finished 2nd and Greenbrier was 4 last year and should be #2 now.. possibly they will take the next highest finishers from last year or roll the dice with the rest?

Only problem with Nolensville is I believe they will be a big school.

The MTWOA JV wrestling tournament is today. Here are the guidelines below... how can some teams bring non freshmen Varsity Kids who have outstanding winning records such as 20-5, 18-4 and 17-8... this is an opportunity for kids to get "competition" that either are forced to be Varsity during regular season by default, or rarely get the opportunity to wrestle due to being two or three deep in there weight class. Disgusting to see this two years in a row and by multiple teams. A sport I love and prides itself on ethics. The Grand Championship is a single day tournament that is open to all freshmen level wrestlers in the Middle Tennessee area that MTWOA services and the JV & Girls tournament is open to all Tennessee and surrounding State wrestlers. JV level is defined as 10 or fewer Varsity matches or any wrestler with a 50% or less Varsity Record.

MTWOA Grand Championship 2017 A bit of a rant, today I went and watched the Junior Varsity and Freshman tournament and saw some really good matches and some very lop sided matches and talent level. It happens I understand...but then you start realizing you recognize more and more of the wrestlers from schools VARSITY teams and with impressive win records. This tournament is implemented to allow the wrestlers to have a more competitive edge not to bring Varsity wrestlers to beat up on the other wrestlers who didn't have the opportunity to wrestle much during the regular season. I came home and investigated more and saw many schools listed there wrestlers improperly as a wrong losing record or a Zero 0-0 record , and yes many of those either won or were in the Championship bout. Independence, Mt. Juliet, Nolensville, Franklin Road Academy, Page High, Cane Ridge and many others were guilty.. If you care to check this out for yourself.. its on Track Wrestling and shameful for a sport that is supposed to teach integrity and rewards for hard work and is RAN by Referees. Saddens me and yes it was pointed out by at least a few coaches. Even one of the TSSAA state ranking officials was there and turned a blind eye to his own teams wrestlers criteria. Some or the criteria? have a sub 500 record, be designated as JV junior Varsity etc.. Shameful and shame on those who took Glory for a little bit of ribbon and metal. I am sure some will feel offended,but no doubt the intent is to get those kids who have not had many opportunities to wrestle and when they have it was against a top ranked wrestler who has been wrestling for 10 years, many wrestlers get put off in this sport and when our Adult coaches, referees and others not only allow but proselytize these actions it is disturbing! Due to lack of participation they RE Cancelled, I hope next year they allow the then SOPHOMORES to have a Sophomore only Championship as well as a Freshman Championship. Johnny
